Chapter 19:

The Super Weapon

Newton's Empire

This was the apocalypse that Newton had feared for all of his life.  Had killing Newton, unleashed it upon us now?  Who really knew.  What I did know was that a giant octopus or kraken-like monster was emerging from a red portal that was opening up in space.  I had to come up with a plan.  I had already used the blue plasma, my most powerful weapon.  I glanced at Tesla's orb.  It was cracked, and the lightning no longer worked.  I would no longer be able to visit the dark space between.  But that didn't mean I didn't have a plan.  I needed to destroy this monster somehow.

I took off The All Seeing Eye.  While it was a powerful tool that could be used to protect myself from all different futures, it wouldn't help me against a monster that could just eat Kepler's Ring and the earth in one bite.

I ran down my spiraled black stairwell and out the door.  Lady Freud and Athena were in the doorway.

"Daddy, there's a big, scary monster trying to get us."

"Don't worry, I always have a plan for every situation."

Lady Freud comforted Athena by hugging her and patting her on the head.

"What happened to Newton?"

"I dealt with him.  He won't ever bother us again."

[Now you might be asking yourself one serious question right now.  Why did I kill Newton?  Isn't my whole society based on the worship of this one guy.  The title of this whole book is called Newton's Empire.  You would figure that I would care more about this guy or something.  But there are more serious questions you should be asking yourself.  Was leaving behind The All Seeing Eye really the best choice?  Did I really need to use the blue plasma on Newton if I could have just trapped him forever in the void?  Why didn't I bring back Athena from the future to kill the Newton of the past?  Would I ever do anything about the immortal head that was in Newton's cell?  These are all really good questions my friend, but how much time do I really have to answer all of them.  None.]

"But now I must kill the kraken that endangers us all.  I must find Einstein right away.  I need you to get some people and thing ready for me while I'm getting ready."

"Okay dear, what do you need?"

I was standing outside a large brown building.  It was twenty stories tall, but really not that wide.  This old building was owned by the Einstein family.  And it was said to have something inside that had been passed down from many generations.  A weapon powerful enough to kill a God.  One that could destroy the world ten times over.  This is what I would need to destroy the kraken.

"Einstein, I'm glad you could meet on such short notice."

"Of course I would meet with you.  Even if there wasn't a giant monster coming out of the sky, I think I would always make time for my good friend."

"Einstein, do you know anything about the weapon your great great great great great great great great great grandfather built?"

"Oh yes, the family's magnum opus.  Every Einstein is taught its secrets and spends their life improving its capabilities.  In this brown building we have an older model...  It's better to see it than talk about it.  Come inside."

Einstein walked in front of me.  There was a big brown door.  Einstein kicked the door a couple of times as it slowly opened from all the rust that had been building up through the years.  What was inside was amazing.  A tall rocket.  A rocket that reached to a sharp point right at the top of this twenty-story building.

Einstein smiled, "This version of the weapon was created by great great great grandfather.  He called it Super Long Boy."

"What does it do?"

Einstein scratched his chin.  "I'm not sure if I should tell you, since the science behind it was originally developed to destroy Newton.  And my family has been sworn to secrecy since."

"Come on."

Einstein grinned wider, "Your elaborate argument has convinced me.  This is an atomic bomb.  It works by taking a single Hydrogen atom and splitting it apart.  The results of the explosion would be devastating, to say the least."

"So, could this rocket kill the monster?"

"This old rust bucket.  Hell no.  And why do you need something so big.  Luckily I have something more suitable for this job.  I invented it myself."

Einstein handed me a small black box.  It was about five centimeters long in each direction.  He put it in my hand.  It weighed as much as a pebble.

I stared at Einstein in disbelief.  He said, "I call this the Super Microsized Boy."

I said, "You know, size does matter."

"Size doesn't matter, Kepler.  It's what you do with it that matters.  And trust me, this will get the job done."

I looked at the black box with indignation.  "But the big rocker looks so cool."

"It may look cool, but it doesn't work."

"Fine, I'll use it.  Will this really kill the kraken?"

"There's only one way to find out."

Einstein and I rushed to Central Park.  The place where we had agreed to meet with everyone.

Lady Freud waved at me.  I ran over to her.  Athena was holding her hand.  Trina was standing next to both of them, but I couldn't  see her face behind her fan.  Einstein gave the little girl a strange look.

"Who is this girl?"

"She's my daughter."  I blurted that out without giving it much thought.

Einstein seemed to freeze in time trying to calculate something.  But I didn't have time to explain things to him.  Everyone else was here.

The creepy priest from the temple was there.  He gave Einstein a wink with his eye.  Hawking was there, too.  He was moving around in his robotic way.  Lead Pipe Larry was there too.  He waved his lead pipe in the air happily.  Next to him was the dead body of High Lord Hooke.  And last, but not least, was the doctor who had kicked my ass in the park...

"What the hell is this guy doing here?"

"I thought you said you wanted to invite everybody."

"Larry, hit that guy with your lead pipe."

"Hey, boss, I don't just go around hitting everyone I meet with this lead pipe.  What are you thinking?"

The doctor ignored me and looked at the dead body of Hooke.  "You know this man might still be alive."  At that, Lead Pipe Larry hit Hooke in the head a couple more times.

"He's definitely dead now."  The doctor said.

"I brought you the spacesuit," Lady Freud said.  Indeed she had.  It was a white astronaut suit that was commonly used to maintain parts of the Ring that didn't have gravity or oxygen.  The perfect suit for me to go into space.

"Larry, I know you didn't want me to use that jetpack before.  I know what happened to my father was very tragic.  But who could have known that if you played Red Rover with other jetpack enthusiasts, it could have such catastrophic results.  But now our whole world is in peril, and I need you to let me use that jetpack."

"I ain't going to stop you.  There's no way I'm going to sit around and wait for the guy up there to eat us.  No way in hell."

"I'm not sure why I'm needed here,"  said the ugly priest.

"You have a very important role today.  You will lead a prayer circle with all my friends here."  I looked at the doctor for a second.  "Even this jackass here.  Everyone must pray with all your heart for my safe return.  If you pray hard enough, maybe I'll hear your prayers and be able to make it through this."

"Beeep!"  That came from Hawking, who, as always, had nothing useful to say on any matter.

And with that, I put on the astronaut suit and jetpack.  The black atomic bomb in my hand.  It was time to kill the kraken.
