Chapter 1

One day, when everyone was just leisurely shopping in a small mall at tanghub city, about 4 men dressed in military uniform came to the mall.

"Whats your business here sir?" The guard said

"Were here for inspection."

"Inspection? I didnt get any memo about that." Guard

"We just called today, which is why there is no memo for now."

"Oh, alright then. Please wait one moment as i check with the management." Guard

"We cant let you do that though." The leader said as they point their rifle at them.

"Sorry, we cant let anyone in without a memo, specially terrorists." Guard

"Then die here." The leader said as they shot them before the guards could ever bring up their rifles.

With the sound of rifleshots, the people all ran from the front entrance which they came from to go towards the other entrances, whereas the other people didn’t run.

“so much for being discreet, right boss?”

“yeah, lets go before they all run away.”

“what do we do now boss? Take hostages?”

“kill them all.” the leader said with a serious face

With that order, they then started to randomly kill people within the area and ran. Meanwhile, josh was with his dad shopping on the supermarket where he caught a glimpse of the commotion. And as he was worried with his dad, he ran towards the fruits section where he saw his dad.

“dad! Lets hurry up and hide!” josh

“why son? Is there any--”

“there is a mass shooting going on now!” josh

“your kidding right? Is this one of your own--”

“whatever! Stay there for now!” josh

“wait, I will go with you.”

“i said stay there! Please promise me!” josh

“alright, fine. I will stay here, so you continue to get the things we need, alright?”

“sure dad.” josh said before he ran towards the front of the supermarket. “if dad wont believe me, then I guess I have no other choice but to do it, right partner?”

“thats right. Use your gifts wisely, alright?” a voice inside his head said

Upon reaching to one of the isles and hiding, josh was able to pinpoint now just where one of them were with his hearing of the enemys footsteps. Before the terrorist knew it, he was thrown off guard by josh surprise attack and thrown towards the back of the supermarket, with his herculean strength which left the terrorist fainted. As he now got possession of the terrorists rifle, he then then approached the wide entrance of the supermarket.

“hey kamote 1, where are you?!” the leader shouted as the leader, which was with the others

“boss, maybe kamote 1 is not yet done.”

“yeah, probably. Lets all go search for him.” leader

As josh went to hide behind a counter, he heard the terrorists footsteps walking towards one of the empty lanes which is yet to have dead bodies on them.

“its now or never.” josh muttered

With josh going out of hiding and running towards the terrorists head on, he open fire and killed one of them. And with the terrorist without any room to speak, and with bullets bouncing off of josh as he ran, he was able to catch the terrorists off guard and killed both of them while they were hiding.

“whew, now that solves one thing, now off to solve another.” josh said as he runs towards the back of the supermarket

At the back of the supermarket, as josh was running towards the unconscious terrorist, his dad arrived at the scene where he found the unconscious terrorist.

“dad! Get away from him!” josh said as his dad saw him with a rifle

“son! What happened?! and why are you with a gun?!” his dad sounded shocked

“like i said dad, someone was shooting out in the front. I have already taken care of them, including him there.” josh said as he put down the rifle at the floor on his side

“is that really all that happened?! are you hurt anywhere?” his dad said with a worried tone

“not hurt dad, now lets go before the police comes." Josh said pulling his father

"Alright then, though would you want to do something to that guy?" His dad said before they stopped

"Nope. Unless if you want me to kill him--" josh

"No, lets us not go there." His dad said before they finally walked away

With that done, they were now able to go out of the mall through one of the snaller exits where there were lesser people gathered.

"Eva, i have got some bad news to share." His dad saying as he pulls josh

They were now at their house after they basically escaped through the crowd and left their car, as they cant get the car yet from the parking lot.

"What is it? And where is the car?" His mom said as she saw them

"The car is in the parking lot of the mall for now. But nevermind that, i have sonething to tell you on what our son just did!" His dad said as he is now angry

"Ok, please calm down and tell me."

His dad told everything that he saw and his mother almost fainted as she just couldnt believe what just happened. His mom was now sitting in a chair as she recovers from her shock.

"Son, your coming with me to the doctor, right now."

"What?! I only did all that to protect you! And anyways, you basically dont even believe everything that i just said!" Josh said as his dad tried to pull him

"How can i ever believe when you got a mental condition! Remember, we went to the doctor once and it calmed your senses!"

"I was only quiet since you guys would always never believe me and OVERREACT!!" Josh

"I believe that you have killed someone, which is why im taking you to the doctor before you are quaranteened in your room!"

"No dad, i will quaranteen myself in my room! Until you apologize!" Josh said as he walked away

"Come back here!" His dad said as he grabbed his arm

"I said im not going!" Josh said before he unconsciously used his strength and damaged yhe metal screen door towards the inside of their house

His dad was surprised by what just happened, as josh slowly removed his right hand from the damaged screen door

"Now look what you made me do. I will go to my room, if you have anything to say, say by the door!" Josh said before going to his room with his dripping hand

"W-wait! We have to let a doctor see you!" His dad said now worried

"Dont worry, look." Josh said as his arm just healed itself in front of him

His dad, wide eyed, just stood there from shock

"Now i have to go back to my room." Josh said as he now went to his room

After josh went to his room, his mom and dad were talking about what to do with josh. After that, they tried to reconcile with him and abided by his wishes to not go to the doctor, nor go anywhere else. After 3 days, the police were able to determine what happened at that mall via CCTV.

*door bell rings*

"Yes?" His mom said after opening the door

"Hi, can we talk to josh mavric?"

"Why does the police want to talk with my son?" His mom said

"Misis eva mavric, my name is major jeremiah espin, the head police of tanghub city. We believe that hes the one responsible or the death of 3 terrorists and the arrest of 1 of them."

"I think we should talk inside about this, though only 1 may enter." Eva

"Alright then, let me order my men for now." Espin

As they agreed, espin ordered his men to stay while he himself will go inside the house. After a minute of waiting for josh at the dining table, josh finally appeared where he himself came from sleep as it was a sunday morning and was yawning.

"Hello josh mavric, my name is major jeremiah espin, and i wish to speak with you about the incident at the mall the other day."

"yes, I took down the terrorists in order to protect my dad, what of it?” josh said bluntly as he took as seat across espin

“josh, didn’t we say that we should keep this a secret?” eva said as she was roaming around the kitchen trying to do something out of her nervousness

“well, no matter how much I will hide it, they would most likely soon to catch on.” josh

“your son speaks well. Anyways, where is your husband, james mavric?” espin said to eva

“hes still at our small family convenience store, being the only persons to manage the store is really hard.” eva

“yes, I believe so. Well, I believe that I would need a full report on what just happened and why. Josh, please tell me everything that has happened.” espin

Josh then told espin everything that has happened at the mall, without telling about his gifts.

“can you really repeat all that? It seems too unreal.” espin

“like I said, first I just threw a terrorist towards the back of the supermarket and took his gun, before killing his other comrads which were in disarray.” josh

“wait, it cant be that simple. Though with your physique, it maybe is true.” espin

“right? All that just happened at the mall, before we just sneaked towards the crowd and back to our house.” josh

“I see, though my hunch is telling me that you arent telling everything.” espin said, getting all suspicious.

“no, like I said, im telling the truth.” josh

“but not the whole truth, am I right? Even still, I would need you to come to the station for you to be questioned properly.” espin

“what if I say no?” josh said as eva was now scared

“sir espin, he has nothing to do with all this. Hes just a boy who tried to protect his father.” eva said as she holds on to josh shoulder

“no can do maam, I really need to question him down at the station, as its only standard protocol.” espin

“hahh.. I don’t care about protocols sir, but I know that what I did was right, and i don’t regret what I just did.” josh

“yes, you did a very brave thing. But--” espin

“but im still not going there.” josh

“hahh.. if I would present a warrant against you, would you still be hesitant?” espin

“i would, since I have to be here for my family. If im not mistaken, I didn’t break any law.” josh

“yes, you didn’t. but I would still need to take you to the station.” espin

As espin wouldnt budge from his statement on making josh go to the station, josh then thinks on what to do.

“just go with him josh, I think that you wouldnt lose anything with just going to the station.” his dad said as he was also listening by the door

“but dear, what if he will get into trouble?! im scared!” eva

“you can rest assured miss eva, mr james mavric, that no harm will be done to your son.” espin

“you will promise that right?” james said by the door

“yes, I promise, on my badge I will.” espin

“son, you can go with him. Your already old enough to make your own decisions, so you can always not worry about us, we can take care of ourselves.” james

“dear, are you really sure about this?” eva said, almost crying

“mom, I will be fine. If you guys will trust me on my decisions, then there is no worries there right?” josh said as he holds her hand

“a-alright then. You can go.” eva said as she looked at josh eyes filled with determination

“but first of all, let me change my clothes. I cant just go to the station in just my pajamas.” josh said to espin

“sure, I will wait here.” espin said before josh goes up to take a bath and change into some decent clothes.

After a few minutes of waiting, josh was finished and he was escorted towards the station.

“sir tuba, you have a call from major espin.”

“major espin from tanghub? What does he want?” tuba said on his seat rummaging through some paperwork

He was at his office when his secretary got in to inform him.

“he would like to report in about the terrorist case at the mall in tanghub."

"Alright then, give the phone to me now." Tuba

"Sir, they want to call you through video call."

"Oh, then i will take over from here, i will give the word myself." Tuba said before he goes to his computer.

After a few minutes of turning his computer on and logging in, he then logged in to his social media account for the video call.

"Hello, this is major espin reporting."

"Yes major, and before we start, why the video call? When you can just appear right here at manila office?" Tuba

"Its because of the urgency of the situation that i want to report about it as soon as possible. Since in the news, we said that the situation is under control, but having a lot of factors that doesnt fit.--" espin

"I get it, i have also seen the news. Proceed with the report." Tuba

"Actually, i have here with me the one who took care of the terrorists." Espin

"Really? Did you apprehend him?" Tuba

"No, i talked to him and he willingly goes to my office. Hes here with me right now." Espin

"What?! You should have just apprehended him! He killed someone, aside from the fact that he saved the very few people inside the mall." Tuba

"Yes, but were talking about a filipino chinese guy here, i have to treat him with care. Besides, you also havent seen the CCTV video havent you?" Espin

"No matter who he is, he must be arrested and cuffed! Period! Thats an order!" Tuba

"He said to cuff you, would you agree?" Espin said talking to josh

"Yeah, so let him see it himself on how im cuffed." Josh

"Alright then." Espin said as he turns the camera to josh

As espin finished cuffing josh, josh just splits the cuff in two, which also made both tuba and espin wide eyed

"Now will you listen to your subordinate?" Josh said before he indirectly asks espin for the keys to his handcuffs

"Wh-what did i just see? Nevermind that, if your just--" tuba

"Joking? No way. Im the one who took care of the terrorists back at the mall." Josh said with a serious face

"Sir, i have sent you the CCTV footages into your social media messanging app. If you could browse on that, you could also see how he took care of the terrorists. This guy, who had no military training whatsoever, just took out 4 armed terrorists." Espin

"Hahh.. alright then, i will see the videos later. For now, report on what really happened?" Tuba

"This is going to be a long story, which you will never believe. Would you still care to listen?" Josh

"Make that long story short, im still a bit busy here." Tuba

"Ok then. Before, i was a call center agent. But one time, my comrades betrayed me behind my back and put me under a voodoo. But as i know about hypnotism, it didnt work, so they resorted to remote mind control over me so that i will quit my work. Dont know why they want me to quit, but it worked, i quit due to stress and paranoia. Anyways, once i got home, i was being called by the gods to help them and i helped them. So in exchange for my help, they activated what i call my soul reactor and which is why i can do what i can do now." Josh

For a moment, both of them just couldnt believe what they just heard.

"Boy, tell us the truth right now." Tuba

"What im saying is already the truth. I already went to a doctor before and even the doctor wont read my story, so they prescribed me with some mental drug which i take every night so that my parents wouldnt worry." Josh said being irritated

"I see. They have done the right thing." Tuba

"But doesnt explain why bullets bounce off of him sir!" Espin

"What?!" Tuba said, being surprised

"Should i test it now josh?" Espin said as he draw his gun

"Whoa! It doesnt work like that. I can only do it if my souls in my soul reactor agrees with me, or they would provide their help." Josh said as he try to shield himself

"Oh, i see. So right now, your souls dont agree with you right?" Espin said holstering his gun back

"No, i dont know if they would agree with me, but they will provide me protection if need be." Josh

"Hold on. Whats with this souls and soul reactors and stuff? Please explain properly." Tuba

"Alright then. Soul reactor is where the souls of ancients live. As souls of the ancients would either roam the earth or go to hell, they also visit the living and see their lives whenever they want to, and leaves a part of themselves whenever they also want to. The gods just activated my soul reactor which many heroes has touched me, and which also somehow activated part of my dna." Josh

"So your saying gods do exist?" Tuba

"As long as man will still remember them and stories unfold surrounding them, they wont die just yet." Josh

"I see, just like how we all remember our heroes, gods wont disappear as well right?" Espin

"Yes." Josh said with a smile

"Anyways, whats the soul got to do with the dna?" Tuba

"The dna still has some things that we dont understand right? And the soul is also connected with our brains and dna. So by changing something inside the brain, so will the dna change." Josh

"Really? Its just that simple?" Tuba

"Yes, simple to say, but never easy to do. Although souls that touch a person would either be a human or an animal." Josh

"I see. Though we should also let you see an exorcist if this might not be a demon." Espin

"Right. Let him see an exorcist if he maybe possessed or something." Tuba

"Ok then, lets all have it your way." Josh said with a gesture

"So, will this be all?" Tuba

"Yes." Espin said before cutting the line

The day after the call, an exorcist was invited at the station.

"Hi, im wen malaubang, and i will be your exorcist." Wen said outside the station

Espin and josh both agreed to meet with wen outside the station before going inside.

"Josh mavric, whom they call the possessed." Josh said as he was pointing to espin

"Stop that. Anyways, you will try to exorcise him right? If there might be a demon inside of him?" Espin said as he brushed off josh remarks

"Yes, i will. But first, i would like to hear his story."

"Ok, lets go inside first, to my office." Espin

As wen agreed, they all go to espins office so that they can hear josh story.

"Wow, if that maybe true, then your lucky." Wen said when they were still standing

"Thank you." Josh

"And now, can we do the exorcism?" Espin said as he sat on his chair

"Ok then, josh, please sit so we can start." Wen

Josh agrees and wen starts the prayer, but no matter how much he prayed and recited the lines for exorcism, josh didnt budge.

"Thats all i can actually do, so how do you feel josh?" Wen

"I felt a good vibe from your prayer recital, and all is good. Thats all i felt." Josh said with a gesture

"So how is the exorcism going for him?" Espin

"He said that all is well, and he didnt feel anything that might have possessed him, so hes not possessed by anything." Wen

"Well, thats good. I guess what your maybe saying is true, that you have been gifted by the gods." Espin

"And which god are you implying josh, if i may ask?" Wen

"All the gods of old." Josh said with a smile and wen is lost in thinking

"Thank you for all that you have done sir wen." Espin said standing to shake wens hand

"Thank you as well." Josh said as he shake hands with wen

And when josh and wen was to exit the office, espin stopped josh by grabbing his hand

"I still have some business with you josh." Espin said before he lets go of his hand

"Well, if you will tell me to join either the army or police, i would like to decline if possible." Josh

"That was what i would like to ask, but since your a civilian without any proper training, my personal request of you is if you would help me some time with my work?" Espin

"If thats the case, then i might accept." Josh said with a smile

"Thats your only choice though. We are making your identity a secret, so the least you can do is to help us." Espin

"Yes, i know. Though what will happen to me now?" Josh

"Normally, you will be sent home with a bodyguard. But due to circumstances, im just letting you off with the police doing close patrols at your area." Espin

"Thats fine, its a deal." Josh said before he made a handshake with espin

Thus josh was able to go back to his home without any other fuss.

Some days past that day, josh was now back to his daily life.

"Hey josh, everyone, its time to eat." His mother said, calling all of the family to eat

They were now eating when they also tuned in to the news.

"Reporting live from cebu, the behead and rspe of a girl which was thrown to an empty lot. The police are still investigating on whom is the culprit for the case."

"Whoa, some bastard just chopped off her head after raping her, now thats cruel." Josh said as the table

"Yes, this world is really cruel." His dad said

"Those kind of people really deserve to go to hell, though nothing will happen to us if we just stay here at our home." His mother said

"They will go to hell, since they defy gods will. Anyways, can you pass me the sauce josh?" His dad said

After a few seconds, josh phone rings.

"Hello, this is josh speaking." Josh

"This is major espin, can we talk for a sec?" Espin

"Sure. What is it, is it urgent?"

"No, not really. Though i want to ask you if you would like to help me with a certain case, which your particular case can maybe help."

"How can i help anyways?"

"Since you can talk to your souls, perhaps you can also talk to other souls walking on the earth."

"Yes i can, why?"

"Have you seen the case about the beheaded raped girl right?"

"Yes, i have."

"I need you to help me with the case."

"I see. But isnt that outside your jurisdiction?"

"I have a friend there at cebu. I told him about you and he agrees to help you with the case."

"Help me? So i will lead the case, thats what you mean?"

"Yes. All your expenses will be convered by the police, just dont overspend alright."

"Hold on, i will have to speak about this with my parents, and were still eating our dinner by the way."

"Oh, ok then. Will wait for your decision by tomorrow." Espin said before cutting the line

"What did sir espin say josh?" His dad said

"That i have to help him with a case, would that be alright?" Josh

"What case?" His mom said

"You saw the news just now right? About the beheaded girl." Josh

"Yes, what about it?" His mom said

"He said that i would help him with that case." Josh

"But isnt that outside his jurisdiction? And wont that case be dangerous?" His mom said

"Probably, but dont worry mom. I have me and my soul reactor with me, though i must always be careful." Josh

"But it will be dangerous right? You see something with your soul reactor right, that its gonna be dangerous. Just stay here josh, where you belong." His mom

"He did say its probably going to be dangerous, depending on how things will turn out. He is already old enough, so let him go and do as he pleases." His dad said

With what was said, his mom couldnt say anything other than concern and worry for him.

"Thanks dad, though i wont let you down." Josh said with a smile

"No son, your our son, thats all we could ever ask for you." His dad said

"Yes, your dad is right. I have my worries still, but i will let you go since he say so. If ever something hapoens to you out there, we wont spare any effort to bring you back." His mom said

As they all agreed, and after eating dinner, josh texted espin of taking the case which he responded with the details of his flight towards cebu. And by the next day, he took the early flight towards cebu, where the police friend of espin was waiting with his patrol car.

"Hi, my name is wesley tambayan, your josh mavric right?" Wesley said by the entransce of the airport at the arrivals section for the domestic flights.

"Yes, i am." Josh said before shaking his hand. "Do you know how many nights i will be staying here?" Josh said as they were walking towards the parking lot

"If you can solve the case as soon as possible, then you can go back earlier." Wesley

"I see." Josh said as they arrived at the patrol car

Once josh was able to settle in to a hotel, they then go towards the scene of the crime.

“so, do you sense anything? Like their soul?” wesley

“nope. Her soul must probably be wondering around somewhere right now.” josh

“what should we do josh? To tell you the truth, this might become a cold case if you cant solve it.” wesley

“no worries, I have a plan on how to handle situations like this, though if you can give me some time.” josh

“sure, whatever you may need.” wesley said before he goes to the patrol car

And once wesley was able to go to the patrol car, josh went to meditate, to contact the souls within.

“hey guys, are you there?” josh

“yes partner, we are all here just for you.”

“can I talk to sherlock holmes? So that I may be able to use his power on this?” josh

“no need. I hear your plea and I shall answer it. We are all part of you, so you just need to use us wisely. We are only here to prevent you from misusing such powers.”

“ok then, thanks a lot.” josh said before he brings himself back to reality, where wesley was right in front of him

“uhh.. what are you doing josh?” wesley

“i was concentrating on talking with the souls inside me.” josh

“oh, so thats what you were doing while kneeling like a knight. I thought you were doing something else.” wesley

“like what?” josh

“you know, its rare for me to believe in some things like ghosts and stuff, but I clearly thought you might be talking with a ghost or being possessed by one.”

“well, being possessed by a ghost or soul would be one thing, but my case would be clearly different. Anyways, I can do this.” josh said as he stood up and brushed the dirt off his pants

“do what exactly?”

“scanning the area.” josh said before he uses one of his abilities

As he use his ability to “scan”, he can see the traces of what has been done and reconstruction the events that led to the event, just like taking a peek at the past.

“do you have a pen and a paper? So that I can write notes about what I saw?” josh

“sure! Though I don’t have any paper or pen, how about my smart phone?” wesley

“thanks.”

With the smartphone at hand, josh was able to write down the license plate of the car that was used to dump the body.

“here is the license plate number of the car. As for any other evidence that will be used against these individuals, I don’t yet know.” josh said after he was done taking notes and deactivating his ability

“this is good enough josh! Thanks! This is better evidence than just eye witness reports!” wesley

“thats good.”

“now lets get out of here, so that we can cross match any license plate this belongs to.”

With the evidence that they have gathered, they were able to match a person which has reported a stolen car.

“dang it, and I thought that we were close to catching the suspects!” wesley

“wait, let me do this my way. Follow me.” josh said before they go towards the scene of the crime once more.

“so, what are we doing here again?” wesley

“right now, I will use my scan ability to track down where they might have gone back to, or the route they have taken.” josh

“really? You can do that?” wesley

“yes. So when I say which direction to take, you must take it.”

“are you sure? The traffic here in cebu is like so slow.”

“no worries, I can just monitor which direction that they take with my ability from time to time.”

With both agreeing on their roles, they then move towards the city where it led to the suburbs somewhere in cebu, which it eventually led both of them to a house.

“whoa there wesley, they probably have guards guarding the place. Lets just take a U-turn here and just observe from a distance.” josh said after pointing towards the house

“alright. Instead, lets just park somewhere--”

“no, that wont do. We are currently in a patrol car, so they would notice that the police is onto them. Without further evidence, we cant pursue them, am I right?”

“tch, your right about that.”
”or maybe lets go back for now and change cars, or do you want to proceed with the mission now?”

“what mission?”

“to take evidence from--”

“no, thats called trespassing! lets just go back to get a new car then.”

“but what do you propose anyways? That we just knock there and ask for questions? Like they would be good enough to answer your questions.” josh

“alright then, what do we do?”

“i got the plan, but you wont like it, as a police officer I mean.”

“hmm.. it also goes against my conscience to break the law and make a crime to prove a crime--”

“leave everything to me. And due to traffic, we arrived at night right?”

“yes, what of it?”

“my plan is very simple. You either distract them or just stay here, if things go south.”

“hmm.. alright, I accept the role as getaway driver.” wesley said with confidence

“good. We should park maybe a block or two away from that house, they might suspect something.”

As wesley agrees to the plan, he then goes to park about 2 blocks away from the house and turns the engines off, all before josh left the car and walks towards the house.

“now then, how do I do this?” josh said on his mind

“dont worry about that, we are all behind you a hundred percent partner.”

“thats reassuring.” josh said as he smiles and before he pressed the doorbell

As the house also had its lights turned on, josh expects someone to be present in the house, thus he rang the doorbell expecting someone to answer. As someone answered, josh then reached out his hand to use his ability “black smoke”, to have the one who answered the door sleep. After putting the thug to sleep and dragging him inside a bit, he also sprayed black smoke everywhere on the house to have everyone sleep as well, after helping himself and entered the house which had about 4 thugs which were heavily armed. After putting everyone to sleep, he then searched the house for any file cabinets or any secrets using his scan ability. And after he was done reading a bit and picturing on classified information on the files that was being kept, he finally returned to the entrance where he put the thug by the chair at the entrance, all before he locked the entrance door and shut the door behind him. With the mission accomplished, josh ran towards the car so that they can now escape.

“lets go now! We must hurry up before they wake up.” josh said as he opened the doors to the car

“your late! I even thought that you werent coming back!”

“of course I came back, now drive before they will suspect something.”

“right.” wesley said as he turns on the car

He then does a U-turn again, back to police HQ, where the police was then shocked on the pile of information that they received from josh and wesley.
”just how did you get all this?” wesley said as they were checking on the information at his desk

“i just normally sneaked in inside and got everything I need. I even have a copy of all the files from their personal computer.” josh said as he hands over the USB to wesley

“like I said, how did you do it?” wesley said, dumb founded

“lets say I have turned into a mutant which also talks to souls. Anyways, you can keep the USB, I have a lot of them back at home. Gotta go back to my hotel room now. Please do let me know what happened to the case.” josh said with a gesture as he exits the station

The next few days, they made an arrest warrant, which they discovered to be a drug lord.

"We bring you a live report at cebu, where a notorious druglord was captured by the police. The police made an arrest warrant for julio gutierez, the druglord which evaded the police many times has finally been captured--"

"Yes, im seeing it on the news now. Glad that part is over, but i think that he will make a comeback." Josh said as he was talking over the phone

"What you mean? We avenged the beheaded girl you know! You should be proud!" Wesley

"I am, but there is a thing with me, one of my abilities is "premonition" and i just had a very bad feeling thats maybe going to happen."

"Seriously? You have such an ability?"

"Yes i have, though dont get me wrong, my premonition is random and i cant predict everything thats going to happen."

"I see, thats inconvenient. So what should we do then?"

"We just stay as is, and you can contact me whenever something may happen or if the situation would badly need me."

"Got it, when we will need you, i will call you."

"Ok then, bye." Josh said before he cuts the line. "Now then, what should i do for now since i just finished calling mom and wesley about the situation."

After some thinking, josh just slept through the day before going to the mall in the afternoon to watch a movie and window shopping, all before meeting up with his sister.

"Hi jade! How are you?"

They were now inside a big mall, meeting up to eat together.

"Just fine ya, how are you?"

"Just fine too."

They proceeded to some minor chitchat and ordered some food.

"Mom said to me about what your going through and this case, are you sure your going to be fine?"

"Yes, as long as i have the souls of the ancients with me."

"Souls of the ancients? Are you sure your still sane brother? As an aspiring doctor in the medical field, i just have to ask."

"Yes im alright, dont you even want to know how i protected dad?"

"I see. I was just asking, though it really remains a mystery on how you saved dad, I just cant imagine how."

"You dont have to worry too much about me, i can handle myself when it comes to push comes to shove." Josh said with a smile

"Alright then, i hope your right about that." Jade said before their order came and they ate

After a while of eating, josh accompanies her towrads her dorm.

"You shouldnt have accompanied me to my dorm, i can take care of myself." Jade said while they were at the front door of the dorm

"Yes i know, but due to my case right now, i need to guard you whenever possible." Josh

"If the case was very dangerous, why did you even take it?"

"At first, it was just to pay major espin back for keeping me a secret from the media. But i didnt see that the case would be very dangerous."

"What made it dangerous then?"

"Because the list that we recovered from the druglord also involves high profile targets, as wesley said to me earlier."

"Hahh.. eitherway, you do know that you just endangered our family towards harm?"

"Yes i know. But whats done is done, you can blame me if you want--"

"Im not blaming you ya, i just hope we can all get over this together." Jade said as she holds his shoulder

As josh was relieved of what jade said, and after jade assures of her safety inside the dorm and at school, josh goes back to the hotel to sleep for the night.

"What did you say again wesley?" Josh said as he was having breakfast while talking on the phone

"I said that julio was just shot inside his cell! What the heck is really happening?!"

"I sense a bigger fish working here."

"Yes, probably."

"As long as his men doesnt get out, we also got nothing to fear."

"Why is that?"

"Because one of them can testify if they were knocked out by someone, and thats bad."

"I see, they might lead to--"

"You might even got a mole inside the police, tracking your movements, and mine."

"Damn, your maybe right on this. Will go to your location now."

"Please use your car this time, not a patrol car."

"Do you think i have a car?"

"Then borrow one. If not, then a motorcycle is fine."

"I will get my patrol car anyways, you never know when we might need it. Also, what will we do now?"

"Check up on my sister." Josh said before they cut the line

After wesley met up with josh, they then went towards the dorm.

"What the hell is happening here?!" Wesley said as he raised his arms like in defeat

What they were now witnessing at the dorm is a burning building being taken are of fire fighters.

"Now they have done it." Josh said with a serious face

"What do we do now josh? I thought that i was only solving a normal case, but this takes the cake!"

"Dont worry, for now, let me check what they have done." Josh said as he walks towards the building

"What are you doing?! Are you insane?!" Wesley said as he tries to stop josh

"Dont worry about me for now, i will just go and check on something. You call the police and know whats happening here." Josh said as he retrieved his hand before walking towards the building

"Tch!" Wesley said as he got to the patrol car to report

As the firefighters were busy putting out the fire, josh then runs towards the building which is still burning. Then he goes towards rooms to check for any survivors which none has survived, due to no air and smoke inside their rooms, before he goes towards his sisters room. When he got to the room and opened the door, there was no sign of people or any struggle. But when he used his scan ability, there was no sign of struggle as she was being pointed with a gun which made her wake up earlier. As soon as josh found that his sister was captured early in the morning, he then exits the building without a scratch, which also surprised everybody.

"What happened? Are you ok?" Wesley said as he came to josh

"Careful, im a bit hot right now due to the temperature inside the building. Anyways, now i know that they got my sister." Josh said as he looked up

"Uhh, josh, you shouldnt have gone into the building. People are now talking about you right now." Wesley said as they now looked at everybody else

"Alright then, lets follow the lead they have given." Josh said as he walks towards the patrol car

"What if its a trap?" Wesley said while walking

While they walk, the crowd then paved way for them to pass through while some are taking photos of them.

"Leave everything to me. Though you could also wait at the car if you want." Josh said with a smile

"Thats not funny. As long as im an officer, i will abide to my duties." Wesley said before they got to the car.

As like before, josh provides the directions on where the car took his sister when the traffic was still a bit light, before arriving at a mansion at another part of the suburbs again.

"Are you ready?" Josh said as they walk towards the mansion

"How can i be ready? When im about to raid the enemys base with just you!" Wesley said shaking

"Dont worry, the plan is solid. So if you wont bump into anyone else, no one will notice you going with me."

"No, let me accompany you anyways to the dragons lair without any of your protection."

"Like i said, you may need guard the car just in case."

"No, im also serious about this."

"Alright then, if you say so." Josh said as they arrived at the front gate of the mansion

Wesley rings the bell and a thug greeted them inside, after knowing their names.

"Good morning there josh mavric, i hope my men greeted you with utmost respect." Said a man at the long table

They were now taken to the dining room of the mansion where jade was also eating.

"Ya! Im glad you came!" Said jade who have a gun aimed at the back of her head

"Its alright jade, just stay there for now. This wont take long." Josh said as he also took a seat at the opposite side of the table

"How naive for you to think that you have a way out of here, though that doesnt matter cause i have your sister with me."

"May i know who you are?" Josh

"How rude of me, my name is frank gutierez, the father of julio whom you have easily captured. And speaking of capture, when we just wanted to live in peace in this new administration, you just showed up. Explain your purpose, is it money? Fame?" Frank said as he almost lost composure and was a bit irritated

"Nope, none of it. Im just here to help a friend of a friend of mine solve a case." Josh said as he points to wesley

Wesley, who was just standing beside josh, was shaking by the amount of men with heavy arms.

"What case would that be?"

"You heard the news right? About the beheaded raped girl."

"Ahh, so which is why it led to the arrest of my son. How unfortunate of him. So, what will you do now?"

"Depends on how you will treat my sister, i mihht have to either capture all of you or kill you right here." Josh said smiling

When frank was about to laugh, he saw his wine and the whole table shaking.

"What is it that you want anyways? A person like you would only spell bad news for everyone." Frank said as he was now on his guard

"For a person like me, i just want my sister back." Josh said as jade was relieved

"Really? Thats all?" Frank said being surprised

"Yes, thats all."

"Bwahaha! Do you know that your dealing with the devil here boy?" Frank said as he was now laughing

"No, im serious, that it may be the other way around. Anyways, how did you know it was me?"

"Just ask your friend there." Frank said smiling

"Sorry josh, i didnt mean to betray you--" wesley

"No, i get it. Your family is in danger as well right? I understand. Which is why i wont forgive you guys for what you have done." Josh said before the guns that the thugs were carrying shook

As the guns shook, the thugs noticed that the magazine bounced off to the ground with all the bullets bouncing off as well from the magazine and then bent.

"Hurry up jade and get here! While they are all out of bullets!" Josh said before she ran towards josh

"Wh-what did you do?! Answer me!" Frank said being surprised by the events

"Like you said, you might be dealing with the devil." Josh said as he smiled

"Boys, crush him!" Frank said as he stood up

"Dont be hasty mr frank." Josh said as his men all levitated

"So this explains how you got my son! You have some sort of powers! You need not power, you already have it! So what you really need?!" Frank said before josh made the thugs bump into each other which made them unconscious and surprised frank

"Like i said, all i want is my own sister, and you dare threaten me. Though i also have to say, that all this is for those innocent souls that your guys have burned in that dorm." Josh said as he stood up to walk towards frank

"Wait! What?! Meaning that your an avenger?!" Frank said as he was now scared and stumbled backwards when josh tries to approach

"Ya, thats enough. Im saved, so lets just bring him to justice." Jade said as she now approached josh

"Even you cant stop from whats coming to you josh mavric! We all already know your face and name!" Frank said as he bumped into a wall behind him

"Yes, and there is no stopping these souls from getting what they want. From the moment i saw you right here, i saw many souls gathering around you." Josh said as he brushed off jade

"Hahh.. fine. Do this your way for now ya." Jade said as she just stands in the middle

"The souls says thank you jade, though you are also belittling my gifts, so you will be next to receive something." Josh

"Wait, stop. What are you doing to me?" Frank said at the same time and was struggling

As frank struggles and holds josh hand, to prevent josh from poking his eyes, what josh was doing is just activating his third eye so that he can see the numerous souls that would love to complain at him. As frank opens his eyes, he now could see the souls of his victims.

"Feel their wrath." Josh said as he stood while frank screams from fear

"Ya, what have you done to him?!" Jade said before she was stopped by josh from going to frank. "Let me go, i must tend to him!"

"No jade, you must receive the gift as well." Josh said as he pressed his finger into her forehead

With that, he activated another of his gifts, "heroes call". With this ability, he can call upon any hero residing inside her or any soul, or he can just give a fraction of a heros soul. Thus jade fainted by the time josh touched her forehead.

"Wesley, call on the police, this matter requires their assistance." Josh said as he lifts his unconscious sister by the shoulder

"Y-yes sir!" Wesley said before going to the patrol car with a shaking hand

And so, wesley got to the patrol car and reported everything that had happened. Once the police arrived, josh reported the truth of everything that have happened.

"Like i said, im sorry for everything i did!" Josh said as he follows jade around the hotel

They were now back at the hotel josh was staying, after some reporting to be done at the station.

"Just what did you do to that guy? And to me?!" Jade was furious

"I, or me and my souls just called upon the soul inside you, this ability is called heroes call."

"Heroes call? I have heard my fill of your crap at the police station. Do you know how embarassing it was to listen to all that?!" Jade

"But its true! As proof, you even saw me break through those cuffs right? Its one of my abilities called herculean strength." Josh said before catching jade. "Can we go to my room? So that i can properly explain to you everything."

"Alright then, its also embarassing to just rant here anyways."

After agreeing and getting the key to josh room, he explained everything that has happened to him and her. Josh was also staying at a single bedroom.

“wait, your saying that I have a fragment of a heros soul within me, is that right? and unless if you will give me a scientific reason on how this is happening to me, I wont believe you.” jade said after hearing the explanation

“yes, you do have a heros soul within you. Though are you sure you want a scientific explanation on how this is happening? You might have a nosebleed trying to understand it.” josh said as he was sitting in his bed

“try me.”

“alright then. The soul is a part of the quantum force which governs everything in this very universe, and which beings which is a part of such a force are called entities, or gods in ancient language. Some gods are born from mans imagination, and some already present from time and memorial, and our souls are also a part of that force. Thus the souls of humans can also be called entities once it is out of their shells.”

“wait, im getting a headache from hearing all this from you.” jade

“like I said, you will get a nosebleed from hearing the scientific stuff from me. I can explain more, but that is just the summary of what I have learned.”

“anyways, lets move on. You said that I have a heros soul inside me, who? And what is now happening to me? I feel that I can see ghosts. Is that part of it or just my imagination?” jade

“for which heros soul you may have, and what are its attributes, I do not know as I can only call on them from inside you. It now depends on you on how you will earn your heros soul.”

“i see, as for the ghosts?”

“they are souls my sister, not ghosts.”

“whatever, just answer.”

“yes, seeing souls is part of your awakening. If you wish to awaken further, I can help you with that, though if you don’t want anything to do with souls and such, you can just be exorcise and try to seal your third eye if you can.”

“if I cant?”

“then you just have to live with it. Like what I said when I was being possessed by deaths soul, you must also see for yourself on how I will live from now on to appreciate more.”

“possessed by deaths soul? What do you mean by that?”

“as part of my burden with carrying this power, all my abilities, I must also carry part of deaths soul inside me. Also since i earned deaths soul.”
”hahh.. all this is giving me a headache.”

“all that being closed minded is very helpful jade.” josh said as he face palms

“so what? You going to help me now with determining which hero I have?”

“if you shall abandon the customs and beliefs of all religions, and listen towards inside your soul, and be open minded, you can maybe speak with your heros soul. I have already paved the way for you, the rest is up to you.”

“lets say I understand all that and do as you say, will it change anything?”

“yes. You will have the power to protect our family. That is why me and my souls agree on activating your soul.”

“alright then. If all you have said isnt true, you will feel my wrath.”

“well, everything just falls if you will accept everything or not. Pride is nothing compared to doing the right thing and the truth.”

As Jade had nothing to say in response with his statement, she just quietly sit besides josh.

“so, what do I do?”

“meditate, and open your seven chakras. You can just watch this videoabout opening your chakras.” josh said as he brought out his phone

“wait, are you joking with me?”

“you don’t trust me?”

“tch! Alright then. Let me see the video.”

Josh then navigated and let her see the video on how to open chakras, and she meditated as well.

“note that if you wont take this seriously, you wont ever achieve and activate your powers properly.” josh

“yeah, I get it.” jade said before continuing

And after opening the seventh chakra, she was immediately taken to a space within her soul.

“so, you made it here.”

“who are you? And is all that my brother said is true?” jade

“yes, its true. As I have awakened within you, and you have willingly awakened yourself, you wont have any other worries. For I am joan de arc, and remember, my words are power!”

After that, she was awoken back to reality.

“whoa! What happened?!” jade

“did you just see anyone in your meditation and after opening your chakras?”

“yes, she said her name is joan de arc.”

“what did she say?”

“that her words are power. What does that mean?”

“it means that you have power over words jade. A type of mind control or control over something which you can make true.”

“wow! Is that true?”

“try it if you want. Lets see.. by turning on the TV.”

“are you sure it will work?”

“yes, just believe in yourself. But please be specific” josh said with a smile

After breathing deeply, and she said “turn on TV”, the TV turned on by itself without any remote. With that, she was very surprised and was in a state of joy.

“you have quite the powerful soul within you, you should be proud.” josh

“yeah! Thanks ya! With this, I might be able to protect our family!”

“but remember, with great power comes with great responsibility and sacrifice. That power is maybe great, but it can also kill.”

“yes ya, I will be careful.”

“so, what will you do now?”

“with what?”

“with school? At this rate, you cant go back to your normal life.”
”its alright. I will think of something.”

“though there will be a lot of tension with you and other students at any rate, and you wont be able to make friends anymore there.”

“so I will transfer to another school.”

“ok then, lets just hope you will be accepted by other schools in spite of what will happen.”

“what will happen anyways?” jade said with a gesture
