Chapter 4_2

Back at home once more, rod enjoyed his meal with his family as they have returned from Barcelona. On the next day, he is exchanging calls and making arrangements with the school that was near his house and with the mendez family.

During their discussions, as rod also needed another job, they agreed that he is to be the founder and head of the new building. later on, construction had started and was later finished, there, a research building was then made.

soon, there were students from that school that did experiments with both chemical, engineering, and inventions. He also made students research his designs and theories where they made some progress as well.

At the garden in their house, sheryl was a bit lonely as she had no more friends since she cut all ties with them.

"hello mr rod" sheryl calls him as she was sitting at the fountain in her garden

"hi sheryl. And please call me rod"

"no.. I--"

"i insist. I already asked your dad and it seems that our ages are close."

Sheryl was being hesitant since she has a lot of respect for him.

"a-alright then. Rod, how are you now?"

"just fine and doing fine. The new company that i will make is going smoothly."

"thats great. Though i have some news to tell you."

"what is it?"

"you have been nominated by my parents as a candidate to be my fiance."

"oh boy..."

There was then a few seconds of silence.

"but it would be an honor to be with a cute lady like yourself."

"i-idiot..." for a while, she was surprised at the comment and blushed. "a-Anyways, i have also cut ties with my so called friends."

"what did they say?"

"nothing.. They just ignored me after that, along with the whole class. But its no matter cause im transferring."

"you will now be in your last days of school right? Why not just endure it?"

"thats what i want to ask you about. I want your advice on something."

"like what? Advice on our wedding?" rod said teasingly

"i-idiot.. Like if i should transfer or not."

"what matters would be what you gain from everything, and not from what you should gain. Take time to think of what you really want to do and if its worth it."

Sheryl was taken aback by his words that she had to think for a while.

"sheryl? You still there?"

"y-yes. Sorry about that. I was taken back at what you said."

"so your answer is?"

"umm.. I dont know what i want now..."

"your life is now in a crossroads it seems. Its now your second life, live it to the fullest."

"how?"

"lets see... You already have the money and everything you want.. So what more would you need or want?"

"i dont know but right now, i feel a little bit lonely."

"you will always have me as a friend."

"how about this.. You finish school first and then later work with your dad?"

"dont i need to go to college for that?"

"haha.. Yes, your right on that. Or how about working with me?"

"this way, we can be together and you wont be lonely." as he said that, sheryl then blushed again." And this also beats going to college. Like they say, there is no better teacher than work itself."

She then hangs up. Still blushing, she thought of them together at work. Him always teaching her and they help each other. Just like--

She then snaps out of it and finally decided. She then goes to her parents bedroom and woke them up.

"mom, dad, i have decided.. Im gonna work with rod by the time i graduate from senior high." sheryl said as she declared onto them

"wha-- why?" ricardo said as he was surprised at her declaration

"as my closest friend, he will be my teacher as well as my workmate. So there is no need for me to go to college."

"b-but--"

"i know.. Which is why im finishing senior high at the same school. I wont give a damn to them which is also why you shouldnt transfer me."

"huh? Are you sure?"

"yes. I will also show you that i can graduate earlier so that i can be with him."

"so you accept him as your fiance?"

"yes"

Both her parents were very surprised at her decision that they decided to do as what she says and see if her decision is best.

Then one day, a woman came to his lab early in the morning.

"hello, is there a rod mason here?" a woman in her twenties said

"yes, do you have an appointment with him?" guard

"no. but if hes here, i will. can i see him?"

"can you leave your ID here please and pass through security?"

She then left his ID and passed through security where she was accompanied by another security to rods office. There she waited for a few hours until rod showed up.

"hi, are you rod mason?"

"yeah, why?"passing through and was about to unlock the door

"im carla sanders from the US comatose center. " she gave a card

"comatose? i think i know where this is heading."

"yes. we currently have a patient who is now very old which is still in coma and i was wondering if--"

"i knew it. and no, i wont do it though where did you get this info?"

"i got it from a rumor floating around that there was a man who was able to bring back a comatose girl with just his bare hands"

"ricardo.. and?"

"and i investigated the rumors which led me to barcelona where i asked a rich family about it. i paid a handsome amount and they led me to you."

"really? Oh yeah i didnt say to keep this a secret. Well miss carla, you came to the right place. Though i wont be able to give you what you need since its a very dangerous operation."

"i dont care, as long as i can be reunited with him"

"is he important?"

"yes, hes my father."

"hmm.. how long has he been out?"

"hes in coma for 6 years now. i just graduated as a nurse and am still proceeding as a doctor. But for years we have been trying to treat my father but we had no luck doing so.. Its really frustrating for me to.." she then cried

"i see. though would you be willing to bet a 50 percent chance for your father?"

the people outside could hear their conversation and he decided best to continue inside his office. "guys, please keep this a secret for me will ya." before he entered

"miss carla.." as he closed the door "i know how hard this is for you specially when you really--"

"please.. i got nowhere else to turn to.."

"umm.. are you really willing to bet 50 percent chance?"

"yes. how much would i even have to pay you for it?"

"its a risky operation and im unlicensed to do this. Let me bring up a contract first before proceeding. And the payment would be after the operation is successful."

"really? i thank you from the bottom of my heart mr rod."

After a while, he brought up a contract he made and signed it both manually and e-sign.

"let me get ready first my bags." rod

"yes, i will just wait here."

"no. you come with me."

they then go to his house where his parents greeted him. he then packed his bags where she briefed the parents of her situation. and as before, his father begged to also go with him and agreed.

they then left for the states where she instantly provided a visa for 2.

After a taxi ride to the comatose center, she then contacted her mom of the operation where an argument broke up and she hung up.

"are you sure about this miss carla?" dad

"yes, since there is still a chance my dad will wake up, i will take that chance."

they then made their way to the patients bed where a lot of doctors and nurses were waiting and some attending on other comatose patients.

"is this really necessary? the crowd? you know that im not a doctor" rod

"yes, they just want to see it with their own eyes."

"are you really sure about this miss sanders? He --" the doctors trying to persuad her

"yes. How many times do i have to tell you guys!" carla said as she was annoyed at the doctors

"guys, please dont tell anyone about this. the current rumors is enough as it is." rod

the doctors were all in doubt as to what will happen but they all nodded in agreement. and then he started the operation. he just did what he did to sheryl that time where they all waited for the results of his operation. it was a very long wait for them as they were anxious to what would happen.

then at nightfall, rods patience over the procedure came to end where he finally used the chi blow where the patient was finally forced to wake up, gasping and heart racing.

"please calm down and breath slowly mr sanders. " rod

"its a miracle! truly a miracle!" doctors said as they murmur about it

"dad! finally!--" as she embraced her dad after 6 years of coma.

"what just happened carla?"

"you went comatose for 6 years after one night dad. Im just glad your awake now!" carla

"really?" a face of shock plastered in his face

"yes mr sanders. and he brought you back" a doctor pointed at rod

"thank you." tears falling

Her mother then suddenly came. She was surprised to see her husband that no words could express her happiness. She then ran to his arms and cried along with carla.

"miss carla, i think i would need my payment now so that i can go." rod

"son, whats the hurry?" dad

"yes sir, whats the hurry? you saved a mans life! it requires a celebration!" a doctor said

"no it doesnt. from the start, this operation has a success rate of only 40 to 50 percent."

"you knew and you still go ahead with it carla!?" the patient was then surprised about the fact

"yes dad. 6 years of wait had made me anxious and i was really stressed out."

"i see. so what would be the payment for your services?" the mother

"just to be friends with her and her contacts."

"really? that was all that you want?" carla

"yes. and a plane ticket home."

"thank you!" she cried again and hugging him as her dad was in shock and appreciation with rod

"what kind of contacts are you suggesting?" the father

"university contacts, investigators, that contacts." rod

"umm.. excuse me but are we suppose to keep this a secret? The operation is a success so can you also teach us how? Can you do it again to other patients?" a doctor

"like i said, no. and as payment for viewing the operation, you would have to keep this a secret." rod said being serious

"you could save many lives with this treatment! why?"

"because this really exhausts one person and there are other better treatments than this. i would refuse to teach you this."

"can you at least show us how?" the doctors who saw the operation really wanted to know.

"no. but if you really are desperate to learn, heed my words. the key is in china." rod said dodging the responsibility and to test if they are worthy

"china?! why china?" carla as she wiped her tears

"like i said. this is a puzzle for them to solve. you must earn your way and to be taugh the exact ways . you know, i only theorized this." rod

"you theorized this?! there is a life at stake here! how can--"

"i know which is why i warned her many times before proceeding, the same as with the patient before." rod

they were both shocked at the recklessness of this operation and in awe of what it could do. they then dispersed and continue their daily routine. carla then began to copy her contacts to him.

"what are you gonna do with my contacts?"

"im gonna do research with them. oh and specially historians and investigators, i will need them more."

her father just lie in bed the whole time thinking what would have happened to him if it went the other way but thankful. From that day on, he became religious.

when they were finished with the contacts, rod and his father rode the taxi back to the airport and rode back home.

Back home, he then began to contact the historians and investigators for an investigation of the past memories that he saw within his dream as some of them were true. he also began to contact scientists, which he got from the historians, for their opinions on his theories based on his experience.

back in the research center, his students were tired at deciphering the designs that rod made.

"guys, whats the status on the other projects?" rod

"sir, we couldnt figure out some of it but we have understood some parts of it."

"maybe you guys had not enough materials to go through."

"no sir, it was more than enough."

"did you think outside the box?"

his students were shocked at the statement and began to think once more on the designs.

"also use your imagination on this guys."

they agreed and got to work. they used online resources as well and finally, found an answer instantly.

"we got it sir! we now only need to implement it."

"great! you just have to make your thoughts fluid, alright?"

"yes sir."

then one day, a person came to his office.

"good day, im searching for rod mason. here is my card." a man in a formal work attire gave his introduction card

"good day. and what would the visit be for mr.." looking at the card "yukino wakamura."

"this would be a discussion best shared in private."

"alright then. Please take a seat for a while."

he then sat until rod came.

"rod san? are you rod san?"

"yes, i am. what can i do for you" looks at the card "wakamura san?"

"please call me yukino. and let us talk in private."

"alright then. come to my office."

yukino then looked all over his office "your office is nice. "

"thanks, it was arranged by me." as he closed the door

"now on to business. I have read your book and one of the past memories you speak of is the memory of a great omnyouji. "

"ah, i see. which of those memories might that be?"

"his name is abe no seimei, the great omnyouji. and the one who was burnt alive on the sacred fire."

"ah, that boy."

"i was hoping that he had also said something to you other than his memories."

"why is that?"

"the head priest is saying that the spirits are restless over at the foot of mt fuji. over the forest of death."

"and?"

"and we lost someone on the forest as she was searching for a lost person. "

"can you tell me the story? "

"i suppose i have to huh.. my mother is the one shes searching over the forest. and the lost person would be my mother and my sister. My sister is a spirit medium and even knowing the dangers shes in, she still goes to the forest."

"and what do i get from all of it if thats the case?"

After a while of rod thinking, yukino didnt move from the spot and continued to bow.

"hahh.." rod scratches his head "alright then."

he then prepares the same contract as the last time with little edits. they signed the contract

And made their way down from bis office when one of the students came to rod

"sir, i think that we cant yet prove your theories for quantum energy. "

"good timing. please prepare my energy beam unit."

"that project? are you sure sir? and it still untested."

"no worries. i will test it myself on the way. please prepare the unit."

"alright sir."

"please remember that this project is secret, alright?"

"yes sir."

"whats that project?" yukino

"its best you dont know and tell. Cause this can also be used as a weapon."

he was shocked to hear this though he followed him go his house where he asked yukino tell to his family about yukinos situation.

"son, what are you going to do now.. we are old and your sister just came home for vacation." henry said as rod was packing his bags

"yeah. im going to go to japan and find a lost girl. "

"yes, that. your always jumping to trouble ever since you made that novel. you never should have made that novel in the first place!"

"i needed a hobby that time and it was a perfect way to vent out my frustrations. because of that, i have made peace with what happened with me."

"even still, doesnt mean that you have to go. its dangerous."

"if it gets dangerous, we will just run towards safety. and i wont be afraid since you will be with me."

"dad, i will go with him this time" june said as she entered his room

"what?! "dad

"at least with me, he would be kept on a leash." june

"alright then. but please becareful." dad

"alright Dad. " june

they then go to the airport and fly to japan. then they got to a taxi ride to the province where they stopped at a monastery.

"where are we now?" june

"we are at an omnouji monastery where we will be staying. "

"why are we staying here?" rod

"its also our house... Where im also an omnyouji in training. "

they then enter the gates where they were presented by a lot of omnyouji passing by. They then made way to the main building where the head priest was praying.

"hello head priest. i have come back with an incarnate of abe no seimei." yukino said after he sat down across the altar.

The head priest then turned towards them as if finished his prayers.

"yukino... Where have you been? i thought i said to stay here and do nothing."

"from all the books that i have read, including his, they all taught me to not give up when there is still hope. i--"

"they are all speaking in japanese bro. how can we --" june said during the conversation

"shh.. leave it to me and yukino." rod said quietly to june

"if he is who you say he is, then let me see him for myself."

the head priest then walked straight to rod who inspected his face and touched his head with his.

"certainly, i felt a very strong force within him. but it doesnt mean that he is abe no seimei."

"as i said yukino san, in my book, that it is only a fragment of each soul doesnt mean that i am him. but i may be able to help you." rod speaking in japanese

"what do you gain from all this boy?" head priest

"that can wait until we are done here." rod

"even so, i would not lose hope just yet. i can still feel that they are alive somewhere there."

"fine. as she was my finest student as well, i will let you have some people accompany you there one last time." head priest

"so you already had someone go there right?" rod said in japanese

"yes. I already sent some people to search only to have some lost and some running back." the head priest said angrily.

"you said about spirits being disturbed. Can you explain?"

"yes. For several days now, we have sensed some disturbances in the forest of death which we dont know why. Even though the dangers that you will face, you will still go right?."

"yes. I already have a digital map of the area and equipment for the journey." yukino

"well then head priest, we will now be on our way to the forest of death."

they then stood up and go to the door. They now have gone to yukinos room across the hall to prepare for the walk.

"are you guys ready?" yukino said while they were checking the equipments in yukinos room

"please speak English when june is around" rod

"sorry. though it will be a long journey i think."

"did she bring anything like her phone or something?" june

"in there, there would be no signal. and we even had a dog trace her footstep but the dog wont go further than the safe path. "

"then why are we here anyways if there is no chance at getting to her?" june said skeptically

"there is maybe... but we will have to hurry. how many days has it been since she had gone to the forest?"

"this is the 3rd day."

"hmm.. if we ride by helicopter, we wont be able to see because of the trees. so i have prepared climbing equipment for this as well. we will mark each area that we have been through. and if we get lost on the way, we will just head on straight to mount fuji and use a satellite phone there to pick us up."

"thats a great idea rod san. " as he prepared the map

"do you have any friends who rides a helicopter?" june

"yes. we will call him if it gets to that." yukino

"alright then. lets get rolling." rod

they were then delivered to the entrance of the forest by a pickup truck where they began their walk. after a while, they then found the trail where the dog last sniffed and started their climb.

once at the top of a tree, they then took a panorama of the surrounding area with their smartphone, climbed down and repeat the process a few yards away.

they also split into teams where the other exorcists was briefed of the plan where rods team was to the right. after a nightfall and a wide range of tracking, they then found a lady sitting at the base of a huge tree.

"i caught her on camera and shes just right there." one of rods team said after his turn at getting a picture up in the tree

"she looks tired and injured. " june

"lets go get her" rod said with a bad feeling.

they then approached the lady in just a casual attire and let her drink some water.

she then woke up to find a man letting her drink water.

"thank you. but i have to find my mom."

"my japanese is broken so forgive me. but we are here to recue both you and your mom if shes here."

"forgive me for i havent eaten in days. "

"no need to say it, here is some bread and water." he handed some bread and water

"thank you."

"it seems you have a splinter. you would really need medical help with this one, your glad im a medic." june said as she applied first aid on yukikos foot

"may i ask whats your name? i forgot to ask yukino." rod

"my name is yukiko."

rod then carried her and made their way back to the entrance using the guidelines they left for each tree. after a while, they reached the entrance where they waited for yukinos group to finish. but after a while, there still no sign of his team and it was already midnight.

"hes not back yet and its midnight already." rod

"your right. but its too risky to just go in the night." one of the men

"lets split up again. the driver and one man will be left behind to guard yukiko while the rest would go with me in search for them." rod

they agreed and left to search for yukino. they searched the area for any markings and also made their own, scouring through the left side of the forest. after a while, they then saw remains of people who did suicide on the forest. they just say their prayers while passing through.

then they saw yukino holding a woman by his hands with a rope by her neck. rod kinda guessed so they slowly go towards him.

"is that--" june

"yes june san. shes my mother. you see, we had financial problems with the temple by the time as she is also raising us by herself... along with a huge debt to pay left by our wretched father. "

"im sorry to hear that. but its time to go back, we just found yukiko and shes in the truck now waiting for you." rod

"i dont know what to say to her about this. if she knew, i dont know what she will do as she is entirely dependent on mother." yukino said out of sadness

"lets just go before it gets too dark around here." june examining her surroundings

"yes, lets go. our mother would need a proper burial so we should also.."

"alright then. " june and rod agreed

they then held the mother while going back when suddenly, a dark figure happen to pass by. they were all surprised by it as a fog covers their tracks.

"june, use the sword in the case in case there would something happen to you." rod

june was carrying a case and thought before on what it might be, but now she totally got it and opened the case to find a sword inside. she also saw a switch at the side and the sword released a laser tip.

"bro, your cool and all but how is this--"

"june, if an entity ever comes to us or you, cut it. you can use the goggles to see those entity if possible"

"with pleasure." she then swing the mid ranged light weight sword and readies herself

they then made their way by sticking together and with june protecting them from any entity to enter her radar.

she then saw through the goggles, entities from afar that was hiding out of fear.

"i see something bro and your right, ghosts do exist. "

"those are just forms of negative quantum energy from negative people who committed suicide. they wont harm us with you by our side."

"but i also see some entities fight one another, are they suppose to be friendly too?"

"no. they must be remnants of soldiers who died in past wars of ancient past." yukino

"june, those goggles are spectral goggles that allow you to see energy pass through."

"what is it with this negative quantum thing anyways bro?"

"what comes to your mind when its about quantum? the brain right? so quantum energy might be energy that is responsible for data processing."

"data processing? whys that?" yukino

"have you ever wondered how a black hole ever moves around and why there is a black hole? quantum energy can delete and write data. "

"whatever is this energy thing anyways, this sword is cool." as she cuts down every lost soul that came and encountered her in half.

after a while, they then found their way out and into the entrance where the truck is still waiting. after they got everyone onboard, they depart back to the monastery where the head priest then received word of their good return. And along the way, yukino explains about their mother as he clams down yukiko.

Then on the next day, they visit the head priest once more. Back again in the main temple where the head priest was praying.

"yukino. you have done a great job at getting back yukiko and mashira. im proud of you"

"thank you head priest."

"i now present to you a token of you and your teams valor with a feast tonight."

"thank you head priest" rod said in japanese

"yey! a fiest!" the priests outside celebrated

"so what would i pay you now rod san? i really cant thank you enough" yukino

"how about a copy of every omnyoujustsu text book in your library? and mind helping me translate them and a tour to tokyo and akihabara. you will pay us our souvenirs as well. how about that?" rod

"sounds like a deal. " yukino

then they fiested at That night and later on, the people was now asleep. june and the others was already done with bath and its now his turn.

"this would be my first time in a japanese bath." he said as he stripped

when he opened the bathroom door, yukiko was still bathing. rod immediately closed the door, though that surprised both of them.

"rod san, its alright to come in. if its you."

"really? is it alright? i mean.."

giggles "yes, its alright. i was just a bit surprised that time when you came in without warning."

"i see. if you will excuse me then."

he then opened the bathroom door and got inside where he saw the beautiful body of yukiko as she was standing.

"why would you let me in? Im a man plus an outsider?" rod said as he slowly walks towards the hot spring bath.

"you have saved my life plus yukinos as well so i am in debt to you. A normal person would have ran away knowing the dangers that they were in."

"is that all?" rod smiles as he dips his body in the water as if he knew there was more.

"yes, thats all. Aside from you being cute that is." she giggles as he comes near

"im just glad that we made it back." rod said as he settled beside yukiko

"why is that?"

"what i feared has not come to pass."

"you know, when we were children, our mom was the only one who raised us and do everything around the house. one time, she even saved me from bullies at school and i thought that she was a hero. if only i can be as tough as her. but now, shes gone."

"im sorry for your loss. though you can always stand up and be independent yourself. you have the decision to be independent if you want."

"i cant leave yukino behind."

"yes. which is why that you must be stronger than your mother in both heart and mind. continue your training if you must but just be yourself. version 2.0."

"how sweet of you. though as my savior, there must be something else that i can do for you."

"then how about being friends with me?"

"sure. and are you sure thats all you need from me?" she said as if taunting him

"yes, thats just it. and if your thinking what im lewdly thinking, i think its still too early for that."

"you go that way huh, a loyal one. i think i might fall for you."

"haha. your free to do so. but im from another country and i hate long distance relationships."

"okay, you got it." they giggled and finished their bath together.

In the morning, they began their tour all around tokyo and their scenic spots. in the afternoon, they then go to akihabara where rod bought many animes which their trip lasted until sunrise of tomorrow.

They then gone back to rest before the burial ceremony of mashira where they also have bought some black clothes along the way. then at night, rod and june then made the return flight back where sheryl was waiting in their house.

"good morning sheryl, were back." rod said as sheryl had woken up in the guest room in her pajamas

"good morning rod. and why didnt go get back earlier? i was like waiting for 2 days for you."

"i see. so how was your stay?"

"good. though i was also bored since they didnt allow me a tour of your research facility."

She then got up from her bed. "even the government guy that came in yesterday wasnt able to do it as well."

"what government guy?"

"he even left a letter for you with your secretary." sheryl then goes to the mirror to brush her hair

"i see. So how are you now?"

"just great. I just finished my studies earlier and ignored all the other people just like you said."

"wow! Thats great! So what are your plans now?"

"to be your wife."

He totally had no comeback with that and they remained quiet.

"i-i better go and check that letter."

he then hurried up with breakfast and hurried to the research facility to either read the letter or meet the official. upon arrival, he then read the letter.

but before reading the letter, he thought about the floor plans and it was all good. soon after, the government official arrived in his office.

"hello mr rod. im julio deguzman from city hall here to inspect your business permits." the government guy arrived with his work attire

"hello too. and here they are." rod said as he had already prepared the papers beforehand.

while julio was inspecting the papers "mr julio. can you also arrange a meeting with the city mayor for me?"

"for what exactly?"

"im gonna discuss with him about energy."

"arent we using renewable energy now?"

"i would also like to establish an electric company based on renewable energy and i would like to discuss with him about something."

"i see. how about going to city hall instead?"

"no. he needs to see this himself and come here. tell him that i will be waiting."

"why me? you should just go to his secretary and arrange a meeting with him."

"can you accompany me to the mayors office then?"

"yes. and since your papers are good to go, lets go now"

they then go to city hall and rod arranged a meeting with mayor dongdong parojin. he then go back to his house where sheryl was waiting and said that hes arranged a tour for her by the next day.

on the next day, they then go to his office where they will wait.

"oh come on. i already waited for quite a while and we have waited enough." pouting sheryl

"just a bit more longer sheryl. someone important is also going to go with us on the tour."

"then give me something or entertain me."

"there is the TV.. its just a few minutes more maybe."

"alright then. TV it is.."

after a few more minutes, the mayor then appeared to his office.

"hi there mayor! how is your day?"

"fine thank you, just a bit hot being outside."

"i know right? anyways, lets begin with a tour in our facility."

Both in their work clothes, they then got out of the office.

"you said its just about you making another energy company."

"there is that but lets start by introducing you to our research facility."

"alright then."

"mayor, i would also like you to meet one of our board members miss sheryl mendez from barcelona." he said as they got out of the office to a girl sitting outside watching TV.

she then stood up and shook hands "hi, im sheryl. nice to meet you."

"well then, let the tour begin."

he then introduced them to the projects that the university students made and researched about. they then gone down a secret stairs where they were taken underground.

"here now is where my own research being conducted by the students. this here is the new renewable energy that i was talking about."

There they saw attached to the wall, a little circle which was surrounded by many transparent wires which were pulsing at a very fast rate.

"the theory to this is when an electric current flows through, the flowing atoms would bounce on the walls where the other wire would pick up the flowing current us potential energy thus doubling the energy output. though we would still need to control the flow of electricity and a cooling system so that it wont blow up."

"wow! this is new! and your going to make an electric company from this small thing?" mayor

"the output would also depend on the size mr mayor. just enough size of this would power up a whole city. though what im going to use for the company is my other project, project torrent"

he then showed them a room where project torrent was also generating electricity the same as the other one.

"this project lets kinetic energy be converted to electricity and further enhance through the other engine."

"its all quite very impressive. so how do you think i fit in to all of this?"

"i want you to sponsor for our new company, only you."

"why only me? you already got her right?"

"my family is already financing a large amount to this facility so anymore would be suicidal." sheryl

"i see. so you just need help with the money to set up the new company... Hmm... alright then, i will do it."

"depending on the amount of money your gonna borrow, i might shut up."

"anyways, if you wont shut up then it would be the end of the world."

"whys that?" suddenly in cold sweat

"project iron heart can be used to build energy weapons such as lasers, laser weapons, light sabers and more. "

"though you can always trust the president am i right? you know him right?"

"no. you know the military. anyways, anyone holding this project would have control over something or would have the upper hand. since it can also be used as a bomb."

the mayor broke into sweating then turned pale as the thought of terrorists having this kind of project. the moment someone will break into the facility would be the end of the world, thats what he thought.

"and does the admin and the students who work their projects here know about this too?"

"yes. i even let them sign a contract along with their families just to protect the company's interests."

"you are certainly evil you know that." the mayorbsaid pointing at rod

"i know it all too well, but this was a necessary step for world peace."

"world peace huh. do you think it would be easy now to win my approval for your new company? this is madness your making here."

"yes, i know. and there are also others just below this building. as you would keep this secret, might as well right?"

"you know, your turning evil. Sheryl said as she stares at rod

"but its for the good of man so i approve." sheryl

"alright alright. i will sponsor your new company and keep the secret. but dont expect that i can keep the secret for long."

"once that happens, you should warn them on what might happen if the military gets a hold of it. since the military has always tried to aquire more firearms and weapons in the name of peace and security."

"your really insane you know that."

"no, this is not insanity mayor. this is in the name of protection. and soon, the world is gonna need us for some reason or another. So lying low is a top priority."

"so you want to become a hero isnt it? that-".

"no mayor. i just want to protect and enhance this world, thats all. but due to forces untold or yet to unfold, i have no choice but to keep them safe. besides, i have already wrote a book and gave away inventions and innovations that are safe to use and yet there is only a small percentage who would believe in me and my theories." rod then flow a tear in his eye "sorry, i got all emotional" then wipes away the tears.

sheryl then grabbed his hand in simpathy

"sorry for that. i just want to confirm something from you before i consent to your new company and your secret projects. i will approve of the new company but it doesnt mean i approve of the secrets you hold. if its so very dangerous as you say, why invent it?".

"for the future mayor. for the future that is in store for us. if you have read my book, you would know what i mean."

"you mean aliens? or just other countries?" the mayor said as a retort

"both mayor. since fear is what keeps us alive also isnt it?"

the mayor was then taken back with his answer

"true. alright then. show me the other projects and i agree to keep it a secret."

"thank you mayor. and could you send a copy of my book to president dutuer? it would be an honor if he reads it."

"alright then. can i ask for a copy?"

"lets go to my office after the tour then and i will print you one."

they then finished the tour and the mayor got a copy of the book along with a signed contract for 2 separate things, the secrets and the new company sponsorship. then at the airport at night time before sheryl departs for barcelona.

"now i know what kind of person you are. im glad your my friend."

"thanks." and was kissed by sheryl in the cheek

she then departs back for Barcelona to report to her parents about the research facility
