Chapter 2_2

“whoa.. just how do you do this?” Wesley was still getting used to the controls for the backpack

“just press your thumb steady as you go forward or hover. Don’t be afraid to use it Wesley.”

“cant help it, its really my first time.”

“alright. Slowly then.”

After some time has passed, rod and Wesley reached a dead end and goes back where they came from. The team was then waiting for them hovering in the middle of the cavern just waiting for them to return.

“gather around me so that we can put together a map.”

They then gathered together and put together a partial map of the whole network of tunnels where some of them still had some parts left to cover while some of them reached some tunnels which are branching out.

“this is going to last us at least some time in here.” Rod

“your right about that. Look at some of this place, we might have not yet even reached over half of the whole place.”

“if only we had more men.” Rod said cursing

“don’t worry rod, we will find them.”

For hours, they ventures through all the tunnels reaching dead ends and some also reaching a giant cavern with plant life flourishing. Of course they also took pictures of the giant cavern aside from the video feed from their helmets. Until they finally found a pathway leading towards some kind of lost tribe where ancient camps were still intact and mummies were all found everywhere in the camp.

“look rod! we found a lost tribe or civilization!” Wesley then descends towards the tribal village

“hey wesley! Don’t just wander off! Team, lets investigate this area first.”

After some time of hovering in the pathway, it then led to another giant cave where many more tribal huts were present as well as mummies. The cave, just like the cavern, also had many crystals hanging on its walls lighting the place up with a dim blue light. And there inside the cave, they finally found the lost children of those nobles just camping at one side of the cave. They were all almost running out of food as all of them were still alive and well. at one side of the cave, there was also plenty of pure water for them to drink as well.

“are you guys okay? You speak English?” said one of the team who approached them

“y-yes.. yes! we are okay!” said one of them

That team member then gave a thumbs up to rod which he nodded. The number of lost people amounted to a total of 10 people where one of them said that some of them probably died on one of the other tunnels. The whole team then scans the whole area when they found a small pathway leading to a small pond.

Rod and Wesley were then called over and the two of them dived and swam under the water. They then saw a hole on the other side of the tunnel filled with water and resurfaced. There they found many treasures of gold and silver along with another mummy.

“hey Wesley, stop ogling at the treasures and do you job. I cant analyze the mummy you know.”

“o-okay okay..” Wesley was then reluctant to let go of the treasures that they had found

“hmm.. form the looks of it, this mummy is probably ancient greek or roman.” Rod stares at the mummy soldier

“just let me look at it and stop assuming things.”

“Wesley, what are you doing?” rod stares at Wesley which was about to remove the armor

“where are the pockets on this thing?!”

“damn it Wesley! Its not the time to take the treasure!”

“what can I do?! This is probably the find of the century!”

“you know, unlike ancient Egyptian treasure, that treasure doesn’t hold historical writings in them. They are almost just like jewels to me.”

“what are you saying—?!”

“fine. Just take the coins with you instead. Your still carrying you bag right?” rod said pointing at the sling bag

“yes but its full of my important things.”

“then decide. The treasure or your things. Take the armor off and you wont ever get out of here.”

“damn it!” Wesley scorned that he couldn’t take the treasure

“you know, your now tempted by greed right now.”

“a-alright then! I will empty my bag! That’s all I gotta do right?!”

“leave the bulky ones and focus on what you can bring wesley. Specially the coins. And don’t you ever leave the camera behind.. its very important..”

“I know..” Wesley was then busy with packing the treasure in his bag

“oh boy.” Rod then does a face palm.

As rod was also carrying a bag with some test tubes, he then got a cloth from the dead mummy and put it on a test tube along with just one coin.

“hey Wesley, im gonna leave you behind you know.” Rod said as he was standing on the pond

“wait just a minute, im still analyzing this mummy.”

“hahh..”

After Wesley finished his analysis, they then returned back to the other side where they found some of the team on the ground feeling some pains that they couldn’t understand.

“what on earth.” Wesley

“tch. Team, switch to spectral gear! We got company!”

Rod and the team then switched into spectral gear where they found many entities walking around the floor and one big distortion on the ceiling where a large entity already had his tentacles reaching out to everyone.

“team! Energy weapon now! don’t let those tentacles get to you!”

“how about me? I don’t have an energy weapon.” Wesley

“we cant trust you with one yet since your still new.”

“oh just great.”

Rod then turns on his energy sword and tries to slash the tentacles but to no avail.

“everyone! Retreat now!”

“y-yes sir!”

Even while in pain, rod and his team evacuated along with the lost people as the tentacles are still stuck on the bellies of every person. As they also try to escape, the many entities walking then possess the mummies around them and tries to drag them to the ground. Through tremendous pain, the team suffered as they go through the tunnels to get back to where they came from. And while they were also flying away, entities were also running on the ground along with them.

“don’t give up yet men! We can do this!” rod said as he flew in the front guard

2 tentacles were about to reach rod and another one far from Wesley.

After a few hours, they finally arrived at the giant cavern where they came from. Wesley, being afraid of whats really happening and because also of the adrenaline, he swooped in first towards the sand from the sinking hole where they came from.

“damn it Wesley. Men! Go up towards the sand now! I will slow down these entities!” rod said as he shielded them from a giant tentacle about to touch them.

There, the team goes up into the sinking hole one by one while rod was shielding them.

“sir, go up now!” 2 of the team members struggle through the pain sweating as they assist rod

“you go first. You guys were affected worse.”

“its alright sir. You must go first for our sakes. We will be right behind you.”

“tch. Alright then. Do catch up with me.”

“yes sir!”

Rod then goes to the sands upwards where he escaped from the sinking sand hole. Rod then waited while hovering on the sand through a raging sand storm. Those 2 team members eventually came out where rod grabbed them and flew upwards towards the origami where it was just waiting high in the clouds.

“sir! Are you alright?!” one of the med team said as she goes near them

“yes, but these guys need medical attention right now!” rod then hands them over to the med team

“this is rod to origami, take us out now.”

Rod then walks towards the bridge and taking off his helmet where they were all waiting for him. They then ascended high above the clouds and moved forward towards Egypt.
