Chapter 5

Somewhere over the south of new Zealand, there was a legend to never cross the other side of the fields cause if you do, you can never return. Then one night, a group of teenagers went to the other side of the fields.

“hey chad, we shouldn’t do this!” one of the teenagers said as they were about to cross a fence leading to the other side of the fields.

“whats wrong derik, scared?”

“you know, rod mason wouldn’t be afraid of going to places like this. “

“yeah! Rod mason! The extreme rescue man! Just look at the snakes that he fought!”

“yeah! And the big white thing too!”

“don’t be scared derik! We wont be here for long. We will just walk by and go back, easy as that right?”

“yeah but.. rod already warned us right? Of the dangers—“

“that was with those places. There isn’t anything here at all right?”

“dude.. if you believe in some silly legend, then you’re an idiot. You also read his book right? What was that saying..”

“Legends and myths are only rumors passed along thru word of mouth that only a very few are with basis and most are without. And those myths and legends serve as a reminder of a past worth telling and worth remembering.” Derik

“as expected from a book nerd. If your one of us, then you shouldn’t trust that silly legend or everything the old would just say.”

“yeah.. that legend is too old. Who knows if its true. Besides, we are in the modern ages now!” chad said with open arms

“o-okay then. We wont be there for long right?”

“yes yes.. and this is also for your own good! So stop being a scaredy cat and come with us!” chad said after he got to the other side of the fence and waved at derik to come.

Others were with derik waiting for him and the others was with chad on the other side. Derik then gulped and stepped forward beyond the fence towards the group of boys in total of 10 of them. They then walked forward slowly into the foggy fields also filled with withered trees, never to be seen again.

“hello there. im here for this request.” Rod was alone when presenting the request at the police station reception desk. Rod was in his armor when he visited the police station.

“okay.. just one minute..” the guy at the reception desk said before he saw rod mason with open eyes. “r-r-rod mason! Its really him!”

The others at the station then started to gather at rod who was a bit smaller than most of them.

“h-hey.. easy there guys. Im here for business though im happy that you all know me.”

“who ever doesn’t! you’re the guy who always say ignorance is bliss!”

“your interviews were very good.”

“who doesn’t! he just fought against giant snakes and unknown objects!”

Rod just scratched his head while smiling. “c-can you please get the detective here.. this is really embarrassing.”

“whats there to be embarrassed about?! We all like you because of what you said!”

“yeah! makes people go to cops again for help instead of just trusting crap from the internet.”

Rod just stared at the guy at the reception desk while the people all said their good comments. “ehem.”

“o-oh! Sorry mr rod! Right away!”

The guy then went his way to the detective. After a few minutes, a detective ran towards the crowd surrounding rod while rod was busy with signing autographs.

“im really glad you’re here rod. I would really need help from an expert.” A tall man excused himself from the crowd

“alright then. So whats the contents of the request? You said to come here since only me and my team might be able to help with this.”

“yes. We currently have a case of about 10 children missing. We had an idea where they were going from the investigations but—“

“hey sedric, whatever you will ask from us, we will never go to that place. Ever” one of the police said and the others nodded

“y-yes.. I get it. Even the local priests wont dare help me with this. Gosh.” The detective face palmed “oh by the way, im sedric braise.”

“good to meet you sedric. Should we discuss the details here or..” rod

“no, here is good.”

“yeah.. this happened only a week ago when the parents of those children all came to the police for a missing persons request.”

“we investigated every lead possible but there was nothing else that we could think of.”

“their parents said that those children were staying overnight, but when I connected all their stories, it was all messed up.” Sedric

“all their parents even quarreled at each other. It was very messy I tell you. Some even brawled here.”

“the mayor would also really appreciate your help with this since its not just only them who has gone missing.”

“so there is more than 10 right?”

“yes. It was only suppose to be 10 but recently, we also received reports that more children have gone missing overnight.”

“how many are they now?”

“I don’t know yet the exact number but I estimate about 20 kids.” Sedric

“hmm.. let me see if I can help. Lets go now to the scene”.

“o-okay. Let me go get my coat first.”

Rod nodded as the detective goes to get his coat while rod is still surrounded by cops being questioned of all his adventures. After the detective got his coat, they then go towards the fence where rod was just flying following the detectives car. rod also signaled the origami to follow them to the destination.

“here we are rod.” sedric said after he got off his car and rod descending to the ground

“hmm… in the fields, there might be space for the origami to land.”

“land what rod?”

Rod then signaled the origami to park by the fields as he faces upwards. The detective was also struck in awe as the origami descended to the clear fields.

“s-so that’s the origami.”

“yes detective. Now whats the story on this place?”

“oh yeah.. ehem.. it was a very long time ago, maybe around when new Zealand was colonized. Legend has it that there was once a family that lived in a barn on the other side of this fence but one day, one of them got possessed and started attacking the other family members. Luckily, one of them was able to get a priest to exorcise the possessed. But after a while, the whole town didn’t hear that certain priest ever again and since then, this side of the fields would just be covered with mist and fog.”

“hmm.. I don’t see any fog.” Rod

“yet. At night, it fogs here so very thick.”

“have you seen it fog?”

“yes. Maybe it was the other day when we finally got to the point where we should search in this place. It was night by then when we arrived here and it was covered with thick fog.”

“alright then. Shall we wait until tonight or do this now?”

“are you kidding? Lets do this now!”

“my instincts are telling me to wait until tonight.”

“just why must it be at night?” the detective said while being in dismay

“because that’s also when the distortions are at their strongest.”

“and when we are able to see them more clearly.” Stacey said as she was brought to them by one of the assault team.

“hey Stacey, whats up?” rod said as he welcomed her

“can we go shopping? Were running out of supplies for the babies.”

“o-oh.. okay then. We still got time anyways.” Rod

“wait.. were seriously doing it tonight?” sedric

“yes.” Both of them said

“c-cant we just do it now? Please..”

“uhh.. if you really don’t want to go, then don’t.” rod

“anyways, this mission is only specially for those with the proper equipment.” Stacey

“b-but I also want to go with you guys. like going on a mission alongside a hero.” sedric

“or you just want some fame for yourself?” Stacey said raising an eyebrow

“w-what are you saying?! Im totally not aiming f-for that! Its my job to save lives like he does.”

“stacey, I will just let him in on the mission.” Rod

“okay then. Anyways, im starving rod. can we go now?”

“sure.” Rod said to Stacey. “see you until tonight detective. We will just meet in this place.”

“o-okay then. I will be ready by then.”

With that, rod then flew with Stacey towards the town to but some groceries and supplies while the other team member got back to the origami to rest for the day. Rod and Stacey didn’t shop for long as they also have a mission to go to at night where they then rested in the afternoon. At night when the mission is to begin, the detectives car went towards the fence where rod and his team was all ready for the mission.

“hello rod. n-nice time for a night mission.” Sedric said after going out of his car while carrying a copy of the bible and a medium sized cross.

Rod was discussing with the team leaders when he saw sedric coming near them

“uhh.. whats that for?” rod

“this my friend is for protection. “

“well, suit yourself.” Rod saidwitha gesture.”men, you all got the plan?”

“yes sir!”

“okay then. Mission strart!”

“hey, what about me?” sedric

“your coming with me on land. Were all walking.”

“what?! i thought that were going to fly.”

“nope. Were going to walk with the alpha team.”

“o-okay then.”

“you all remember the plan right?”

“yes sir!”

“make sure to turn on your spectral gear at all times. Now lets move out!” rod said before he got his helmet on.

The omega, beta, and delta teams then dispersed to the air while team alpha also dispersed walking on land. rod walked forward with sedric towards the fog where sedric hangs on tight to rods shoulder.

“umm.. your hand is kinda heavy.” Rod said after a while of walking

“j-just leave it alone rod. Y-you should be glad that im here.” sedric said while examining the area

“hahh..”

Then after 30 minutes of walking, rod then saw a red flare being fired in the distance.

“w-whats that suppose to mean rod?”

“that was the color for surrender which means that they don’t have any communications or they just gave up.”

“hmm.. l-look.. there is nothing here.. can we now go back?”

Then as they walk, they then saw the abandoned barn at the distance.

Rod took a deep breath. “oh look.. there it is.”

Sedric couldn’t do anything else but gulped.

“hey rod. Cant we just go in the morning?” sedric said as they were already at the barns door

“nope. Its now or never.”

Rod then opened the door where it was very dark inside. But as rod shone the flash light, a black light was then shining and suddenly closed in on them. In that instant, Rod then turned on his energy weapons and prepared himself for the fight. But after he turned his energy sword on, the black light disappeared.

“don’t let your guard down detective!”

“yy-y—yy-yes sir!” sedric said as he hangs on tight to rods back

Sedric then tries to remember what he saw that instant where he could have sworn to see a black figure closing in on them.

“detective. I now want you to light up the fireworks now.” Rod reaches to his sling bag to bring out a portable rocket launcher firecracker and a lighter.

Sedric then nodded and grabbed the firecracker to light it up at an open space with rod guarding him. But as he tries to light the firecracker, sedric just have to look forward to see the black figure again and closes in on him. Rod notices the black light and in that instant, try to slash it but disappeared again.

As sedric was now at the top of his limit, he then ran forward bringing with him the firecracker and shouting at the top of his lungs.

Rod was then left all alone to face the black light where it cant be found that easily. He tries to examine everywhere, even to his left and right.

“tch. This isn’t going anywhere.”

Rod then flew towards the skies when the black light presented itself in front of rod and passes through him. As rod knew in his instincts that he must fly towards the sky in that instant, he then flew upwards full throttle. But the black light was keeping rod from ever passing through the thick fog as it was holding him down to the very same spot in the air.

“tch. I must at least..”

Rod then reaches out to his flare gun and loaded it with the red flare. Rod struggles to shoot but due to his courage and will, he finally shot in the air. After a few seconds, a team member then comes near the point of origin of the flare and saw in his spectral gear the black light holding rod from ever flying towards the sky.

“h-hey there! you all know what to do right?” rod said as he still struggles in the air against the entity

“y-yes sir!”

The black light then tried to reach its tentacles towards that team member when rod immediately descends along with swinging his energy sword at the entity. With this, the team member was able to fly up high.

“this is delta code 3 to origami. Code red alpha!”

“sound the alarm!” Sheryl said on the bridge

The origami was just up in the skies above them when that team member called where they saw on their monitor a slight image of a top of a barn just beyond the fog.An alarm then came ringing far and wide as well as throughout the comms where the other team alpha members heard it on the ground loud and clear. They all then gathered to the skies before they descended on rods location.

In the meantime, rod got back to the ground after earlier where he readies himself once more against the black entity. Then after a few seconds, he heard the sound of the alarm to warn the whole team and gather to his location, just as planned. And now that the alarm was sounded off, all he got to do was wait for the whole team to get there.

But as he readies himself and examines the entire area, he then immediately noticed objects flying towards him and he dodges them. the black entity was also too fast for him to see where he was even thrown forward where he was almost hit by a flying object. The then flew back towards the open ground at the front of the barn when the entire team then descended with their energy weapons at hand.

“team, you all guards your sixes while forming a perimeter around the barn while i go inside to check the place!”

“yes sir!”

They then formed a perimeter while also guarding each others six while rod walks inside the barn with his flashlight on to find a trap door by the floor. Rod then opens the trap door and shone the light down to find the teens unconscious and also around them, a black background.

“tch. They might be inside a distortion. Better also call the te—“

The black entity then showed in front of rod and tried to posses him but rod immediately notices this and flew backwards where the black entity eventually left him. The black entity then showed itself in front of the barn where the other team members then readies themselves to fight while others were also shaking.

“team beta! With me to fight this entity! Others rescue the children trapped inside!” rod said as he flew back towards the front of the barn

“yes sir!”

“be noted that there is also a distortion inside. Please proceed carefully.” Rod said as he landed in front of the black entity and readies himself

Through rods spectral sensors, the black entity then approached rod and as if to look at him face to face. Then forms some sort of face depicting that the entity is angry. Rod also being scared, he again hides this fact as he then steadies his energy sword towards the black entitys neck. The black entity just stayed there behaving itself as the other team members picks up the teens inside the barn. After that, they all slowly flew back towards the origami. Rod flew as he was still facing the black entity where it stayed there the whole time, but this time, it smirked before it disappeared.

“team! Count off!”

The whole team then counts off with their numbers of over 40 members to find one missing man. Then another figure in the sky approached the hatch holding one more child.

“sir, i saw this teen while i was still walking on the far west side.”

“good work. Team, close the hatch and rest for now.” Rod then walks back to find a black figure in front of him. He instinctively jumped back and readies himself to fight but the figure was gone.

“god! I hate it when they do that!” rod cursed as he then goes to the bridge. “yukiko, please go to the fence immediately. were getting out of here.” rod said with an annoyed face, also with heart thumping hard

“yes rod.”

The origami then heads towards the fence where cedric was there waiting for them. after that, he was scolded by Stacey after she got word on the bridge of what happened during the mission. They then delivered the teens to a hospital so that they can be checked up by a doctor.

“well.. thats all of them.” sedric said at the entrance of the hospital where the team was also busy carrying the teens to stretchers

“hey.. im still not done with you you bastard.” Stacey said pointing at sedric

Sedric was all sweating due to the guilt that he felt for leaving rod alone.

“hahh.. im totally not saying anything—“ rod intended just to comment with the situation when he suddenly felt tired and kneeled

“whats wrong rod?!” Stacey said as the whole team noticed it

“i must be feeling tired. Lets get back to the bridge and see all the data that we have gathered.”

“look at what you have done! You left rod and now the entity got to him! If only i wasn’t pregnant, i would totally kick your freaking butt!”

Sedric was now sweating bullets as he leans on the wall filled with guilt and fear.

“next time, if you really cant handle it, then don’t ever push it” rod said annoyingly to sedric when he stood up which he then nodded

Rod flew back with the whole team back to the origami.

“here is the data that we have gathered during the mission rod.” Flores said as she displays in the monitor the video feed of the entire team

Then at the rescue attempt with the teens, some of the team members saw a bed far inside with some skeletons at the sides. There they also took a closer look and saw the skeleton of a chained woman by the bed and the skeleton of a priest lying at one side of the bed. With this shocking discovery, it sent a chill in all of their spines which they also let the whole assault team see the footage.

By then, the origami was still hovering in the skies of the town where they all then sleep inside the origami.

“hey officer, here is a USB of what we found at the other side of the fields.” Rod said to the guy at the reception at the police station by the next morning.

With this, it only frightened the guy as rod placed the USB at the desk.

“s-s-s-s-so i-i-i-it is true!” the guy shouted while leaning to the wall

“you can just deliver this to the president of new Zealand and to the mayor if you want. Now don’t you ever let another soul into the other side as much as possible.” Rod warns the guy as he peed his pants

With the other officers heard this, they all froze in shock as rod then walks towards the doors exiting the police station.

Next up, they were now on their way towards Greenland where there was a request for a lost person.

“excuse me, can i see the mayor here?” rod then approached one of the townsfolk without his helmet on and with their new armor built for ice travel

The armor got a very warm wool inside while being covered with titanium plating and armor where the chest plate has a special function of heating up at the sides for just over 20 degrees celcius. And as rod asked one of them, he just walked away from him.

“cant anyone here speak English?! Hello!” rod shouted at the town

After a few minutes, rod was approached by a woman.

“hello there rod mason.”

“thank you for noticing me.” Rod said after he turned to his back

“i saw you on TV and over the internet. You were fantastic with your adventures!”

“oh! Thank you. And have you already read my book and watch my interviews?”

“rod, your swaying way off course here.” Sheryl said over the comms

“yes! That was good too!”

“i see. By the way, im here to fulfill a request from this guy.” He then hands the paper to the woman for the name “we also searched the town this request came from and ended up in here.”

“yes. This way.”

“thank you.” Rod then follows her towards a house at the far end of the road where she left him at the front door.

“hello.. im here to fulfil a request! Its me! Rod mason!!”

After a few seconds, he heard sounds inside the house. “yes! In a minute!”

After a few more minutes, rod was then greeted at the front door by a man in his forties.

“im so glad your here rod mason. We would need all the help we can get. Come inside.”

“no. Lets just finish our business here. no offense but im seriously allergic to extreme temperatures.” Rod said with his nose running

“ah.. i see. Then lets go to the town hall where we will explain to you of the details.”

They then go towards the town hall where some men were gathered there to discuss something urgent.

“hey people! I finally got rod mason here!” the man shouted towards the group of men while they were walking

“perfect timing then!”

“what seems to be the problem?” rod said as they arrived

“recently, there was a group of men who was to deliver urgent mail for the town. But after a few more days of waiting, they aren’t yet coming.”

“we contacted the other town through a satellite phone and said that they were already coming.”

“so this means that they might be trapped in the snow. But how is that possible when the weather now is clear?”

“the last few nights, there was a terrible blizzard. Maybe they fell off course.”

“probably. Let us just see what we can do to find him. Though why is it that you would still need someone to deliver on land when you now have sea farers?”

“well, some of us still stick to the old ways. Specially if the delivery is for very important things.”

“don’t you guys have rescue teams around here?”

“we do call for a rescue team, but they haven’t come here yet.”

“i see. We will see what we can do about it.”

“thank you rod mason.”

Rod then puts on his helmet and flies back towards the origami which was on standby at the skies of the town. They then head along the route towards other towns on land except for those in islands. They even tried to use a heat sensor to detect any life signs in the area though only after a few hours of finding, they were able to detect very slight life signs on the snow.

With that, they were able to save 5 delivery men from extreme hypothermia and delivered them back to the town. The town was a happy to see those people but was also sad that the delivery got lost in the snow. After that, they bid farewell to venture off to finland where their next request is.

“hello mr president. I have received your request and am en route now to finland.”

“good lad! Might if you would go anyway to the place to find them?”

“please tell me the contents of the mission.”

“okay lad. The mission is to get some adventurers back to finland. They have already been missing for a week now where their hotel reported that there was an empty room filled with their stuff.”

“so these adventurers were—“

“can you like go south beyond the border of finland lad. That was also where they were last spotted and probably going there.”

“sure. We will try.”

“great! I better go now cause im pretty busy right now.”

“sure.”

The president hangs up the phone.

“hahh.. I guess were searching a needle in the haystack again.”

“well, that’s our job now.” Sheryl said as shes reviewing the requests that was sent to them directly from their company.

“hmm.. i hope our missions would be smooth sailing for now.” Flores

“yes. The last mission really took a lot out of rod.” yukiko

“please do not ever remind me of that mission like.. ever.. im concentrating here!” Stacey said as she was busy leading the science team

“I guess she hasn’t yet forgiven that jerk yet. Though we also haven’t forgiven him either.” Maria

“anyways, lets make haste towards the south beyond the borders of finland.”

“really? According to this map in the internet, there is no city or town in there.” flores

“yes. That were the adventurers were headed as per the president.”

“alright then. Setting up course towards the tip leading to the white sea.”

“wait.. im gonna hurl..” Stacey

“me too..” the girls were gonna hurl and they rushed off to the bathroom.

Yukiko then set the pilot controls to rod for now and with that, rod has no comment as always. After a few hours of searching using heat sensors, they found nothing until somewhere at the very tip of the land just near the white sea, they saw an ancient ruin just down the cliffs. Rod then had the assault team ready after the girls returned from their room either to get some change of clothes or to check on the babies and kaori who was taking care of them.

Then the assault team along with rod sortied towards below the edge of the cliff where they saw ropes at the cliff and some ancient ruin. As usual, they take record of the details of the mission as the descend forming a perimeter around the ruin. Rod saw that the entrance was already open and scans the runs for any life signs.

There they saw 2 slight heat signatures inside the ruin along with some energy readings leading to an entity or a distortion inside. Rod then readies his energy weapon and signals about 5 people to do the same and come with him. with that, they entered the ruin and had 3 of them picture and video the inside of that ruin.

The inside of the ruin was filled with skeletons where probably an ancient cult had practiced their evil deeds in there. but once they also got inside, they immediately saw the victims unconscious and pale deep within the ruin where they also saw a black entity sucking up their life force. Rod then signals the team to go there slowly and when they arrived to the scene, rod and one other team member crossed swords against the black entity.

The black entity did nothing at all as rods team took the 2 victims with them outside while its tentacles were still attached to the victims. After securing the victims outside, they then flew upwards back towards the origami and rod cut the tentacles from the victims. But at that moment, rods instincts kick in as the black entity immediately flew towards them.

“tch. Team! Fall back and retreat back to finland! I will be with you guys shortly.”

“yes sir!”

The team then flew back towards the origami leaving rod to deal with the black entity trying to reach out to the victims again with its tentacles while being held at the spot by rods energy sword. With the suns rays and the energy sword, the black entitys powers were being cut in half as it cant display its full powers. Rod then activated the new features on his suit where each titanium plating in his suit and his helmet emits electricity, preventing the black entity from ever holding him and threw an energy bomb at the entity, thus dispersing its particles into the air as rod flew away.

*ring*

“hello rod. have you got them?”

“yes, I got them. And some data that you guys might want to keep.”

“oh no.”

“oh yes mr president. You better believe it! If it wasn’t for our science team, rod would have still suffered just like in new Zealand.” Stacey

“w-who is that rod?!”

“I have you on loud speaker on the bridge. Anyways, I will send these adventurers back to you.”

“just who are these adventurers that has your attention?” maria

“they are the husband and wife of a multimillion company in Switzerland. Their company then sent a letter to me the moment they didn’t come back to their house or at work.”

“I see. Though you guys better send them directly to a hospital since they look really depleted and very pale.” Sheryl

“o-okay. I will have my secretary call one of the hospitals here to ready a bed just for them.”

“alright then. That’s all for the request right?” rod

“yes.”

“once were done there, were then off to Mongolia for another life saving event. Bye.”

The president then hangs up the phone.

*ring*

“hello rod.. does this mean you will accept our countrys request?”

“yes mr president. Im on my way now towards Mongolia.”

“you can just go directly to the mountains where a couple of mountain hikers went missing there.”

“really?”

“rod, don’t you think that they are all treating you as some kind of gofer?” Sheryl

“w-who is that?! Anyways! Im very busy right now! So just rescue those guys now!”

The president then hangs up the phone.

“you know, sometimes I wonder if we should really accept requests from other people.” Yukiko said annoyingly

“yeah. but this is really our job.” Sheryl

“so your already used to people like them huh Sheryl.” Maria

“yeah.. from my searching for investors for the company, there would almost always be people like that.” Sheryl

“I feel you too girls.. hahh..” rod was doing a face palm. “origami.. set course for the mountain ranges of Mongolia.”

“already on it rod.” yukiko

After a few more minutes, they have arrived at the mountain ranges where a blizzard was raging on. They used 360 degree heat sensors to detect any life signs within the mountains but they still detected nothing yet. There was even a blizzard going on in the mountain ranges.

“brrr… I really hate extreme weather.” Rod said as he was very cold in his seat, even with his jacket and all.

“hold it in rod.” maria

“if you want, I can give you a hug..” yukiko

“hey! No one gets to go first with rod!” Sheryl

“who just made you the boss?” yukiko then enabled the auto hover function

they stopped in mid air just so that yukiko could go to rod and hug him. Stacey noticed this and immediately cut off her communications

“no fair!” the 4 girls then grabbed rods sides while Sheryl gets to sit at rods lap. All 5 girls were then seated around rod while sharing their heat with him.

“uhh.. girls.. can we save this for later?”

“it wont hurt to have a little break right?” Stacey

“a-alright then.”

In that moment, rod was being heated up by the 5 ladies who were sharing their heat to him, though he was also turned on by the breasts that keep hitting him in his front and his sides. The girls all just smiled at him as they all rested for the day.

After they were finished resting, the search continues at the blizzard on got a bit worse that they really had to go to the skies now where they are safer. But as they passed through a ravine, their sensors immediately detected some very slight heat sources under the ravine.

“im picking up some heat under the ravine rod!” flores said as she was hanging on to her chair for air turbulence

“theres no use! The blizzard is getting stronger!” yukiko said as she was now on manual pilot

“gosh! Why does it have to be a blizzard now of all times?!” maria said as she was also hanging on

“maybe these mountain ranges are always having blizzards which is why they are requesting for us to come and get them instead.” Sheryl said as she was hanging on to new her chair by the strategy table

“rod, its now or never or else we will lose them! Its has already been more than a week since they went missing.” Stacey

“yes. They might be suffering hypothermia right now. Maria! Prepare the assault team right now! Only those with the artic suits can come down with me.”

“okay.. on it.”

“where are you going in this blizzard rod? cant you just let them handle it?” Sheryl

“I could.. but they would also need their leader at times of need Sheryl. I have to go.”

“just let him go Sheryl. Even we are also worried about him but hes also right.” Stacey

“rod always keeps his promises with us. Lets just pray like always for his safety.” Yukiko said as she was struggling to steady the ship as it ascends

“o-okay then. But do come back alright rod?” Sheryl

“you got it Sheryl!” rod said as he then stood up and walk towards the door.

Then with 20 members of the assault team, they then dive from the ascending origami and into the ravine. They also struggled through the harsh blizzards as they descend towards the ravine. Once they arrived at the ravine, they then go under it to check for any survivors. There was also an old broken bridge at the top of the ravine where the mountain hikers might have fallen.

Inside the ravine, the blizzard didn’t quite hit them though temperatures there were below maybe 4 degrees celcius as the others were also freezing. They then spread out in groups and scanned the entire ravine for any life signs. After a few minutes, they finally found about 9 of the missing mountain hikers at the bottom of the ravine where they were all freezing to death as they all shared the same portable bed, all of them almost buried in snow.

“sir! the other team finally spotted the mountain hikers at the bottom.”

“alright! Lets all go to them now and help them.”

“yes sir!”

Rod and his team then arrived at the other side of the ravine where the other team was waiting at the bottom, checking up on the victims.

“sir! their all now suffering sever hypothermia and malnourishment.”

“as expected. Get all of them now to the origami.”

“yes sir!”

But at that very moment, a ball of light suddenly appeared before rod, then rod jumps back and readies his energy sword. The whole team also saw the small ball of light and turned on their spectral gear as well as their energy swords. For a couple of minutes, the entity didn’t move from that spot and slowly, rod and the whole team disengaged their energy weapons.

“sir! what should we do now with that entity?”

“can we just bring it with us?”

“are you crazy? Stop joking around.”

“hold your positions men. We will see what this entity has got to say.”

Rod then disengaged the electric field in his armor and goes near it.

“wait boss! What if it sucks you dry!?”

“no. if it wants that, it would have sucked the life force out of these victims already. It wants to tell something.”

With the touch of rods finger, he then made contact with the entity as it flashes an intense light around them all.

There was once a great chief in the snowy villages just below the mountains where he ruler peacefully in his clan. In there, he learned about many things such as martial arts, pottery, art, trade, science, and magic. Throughout his clan, he was a very known warrior king always ready for battle if the need arises. And just like rod, he had many wives and lived happily in their village. But at the same time, he also had brothers in arms who was very jealous of him as he isn’t that much good in all aspects as the chief. The chief was also fierce as he was very wise beyond his years.

One day, as part of his expansion plan or crusade of his territories, he has gone south where they eventually met the lord of that kingdom. During the meetings with the kingdom, the chief and the lord in that kingdom became close friends as they both share the same interests and thirst for knowledge in arts, science, and mysticism. They even clashed swords and compared strengths in battle against each other as a form of communication and friendship. But every time that the chief would have meetings with his close generals just outside the walks of the kingdom, his brother in arms always protested to the matter of peace between 2 rulers. Of course the chief also protested against him as it was for the future benefit of the clan. The chief even learned of his new friend that he was now crowned as the new emperor of his kingdom.

But one time, his brother in arms has had it and always plotted against the chief with false reports, lies, stealing, bribery of other officials, and many more. Despite his efforts, the chief and the emperor was still close friends. Then one time at night, he invited the chief in a stroll up the mountains to hunt. His brother in arms took him towards the ravine where he was being backstabbed and thrown off the ravine. Then now as a spirit, he saw that that brother in arms took over command of the entire clan where he cut off all ties with the kingdom and started a war.

For many years, the emperor pleaded them to let him see the chief for what is really going on but he was told that the chief has already left the clan leaving his brother in arms as the next clan chief, with all his wives also to his bidding. With learning this, the emperor then formed a plan to fortify his kingdom against the invading forces outside his kingdoms walls. Although the emperor did this, he still hasn’t given up hope for that very friend that he has and always capture any general on the other side so that they can talk about what happened.

Despite the emperors efforts, the generals of the chief didn’t say anything about the chief as they also have no clue to what he is doing right now since he is also missing. then after many more years, he gave up all hope as the battle has gone too bloody to even count the dead that has fallen under the blades of the barbarians. Then as the emperor completed the fortification of his kingdom, he also charged to battle along side his generals to slay all the barbarians. Of course the chief, as a spirit, lay witness to all the events throughout the years passed.

Then after so many years of fighting, at long last, the emperor finally killed the last of the barbarian warriors and faced off against the new chief and his magicians. The final battle was an epic battle where the magicians all threw many bottles of many poisonous potions at the emperors army as they all move forward hunting the last of the barbarians down. Then after some time of chasing and killing the magicians against flying arrows in the sky, the new chief was all that was left and for that very last thread of hope, he asked one last time on what happened to the last chief and said nothing.

He then killed the last chief in vain to his quest to find his dear friend. Then with all the corpses of the barbarians, the emperor then made a new declaration, to build a pyramid like the stories of other emperors that was told to him from far away merchants. Then there at the bottom of the pyramid, he buried all the corpses of the barbarians and built himself a tomb filled with a very poisonous substance from his magicians. As per their beliefs, they believed that the substance would grant eternal life as well as to protect oneself from any evil spirits or souls or to seal off evil.

The emperor was very old by then and at his dying bed, he commanded that he be buried inside the tomb as well to help guard the evil from ever coming out. Touched by his command, the emperors generals ordered to make a clay model of the emperors army so that they may also guard the emperor in the after life as he suppresses the evil from the tomb. The emperor was also then sealed off into the tomb along with burying his clay soldiers.

Then rod also had flashback of the emperors life of the loss of his own mother, who had like a goddess complexion and golden hair, the mourning of the loss of his dear friend in tears, which he shouted to the skies just right at the open space of the palace, his new found habit of drinking the poisonous substance due to the loss of his mother and friend so that he may obtain eternal life and rule the kingdom forever, overseeing it until the ends of time with his wise rule.

“please help save my friend”

Then rod snapped out of the dream to find himself standing without his helmet and with one of the team members checking his eyes with a small flash light.

“whoa! What are you guys doing?! And where is my helmet?! Its freaking cold out here!”

“thank god sir! your back!”

“for a moment there, you really stood like a rock.”

“for how long was I out?” rod

“about maybe 5 minutes sir.”

“from the moment that thing flashed us all with a bright light, you have been standing there.”

“your eyes were even glowing that time sir.. sorry but we really had to check you out that time.” Said one of the team members who presented rods helmet

“o-okay then. That was very weird experience.” Rod then grabbed his helmet and put it on again

“sir, what should we do now?”

“team, can you dig around this area?”

“why sir?”

“my instincts tell me there might be something in here.”

“o-okay sir. we will dig around the area and look for something.”

The whole team was then digging around the area then after a couple of minutes, they found a skeleton of an ancient warrior.

“wow sir, we didn’t think this guy was gonna be here.”

“we will also take him with us to the origami so that the team can analyze it.”

“yes sir!”

They then gathered the skeleton and flew back to the origami along with the victims, flying high up above the clouds where the origami was waiting with its hatch open. As there was also little air around, only a few were present with oxygen masks with them on the cargo hold as rod and the rest of the team got back to the origami.

“rod, what took you so long!?” Sheryl

“you really wont believe me when I say this.”

“just say it.” Yukiko

“maybe along the way.. for now, lets go to china.”

“wait.. isn’t china not on our to do list?” maria

“yes. But I have a feeling that I must go there right away.”

“hmm.. is that your instinct or something else?” flores

“a little bit of the above flores. Anyways, I will also explain along the way. Yukiko, to china now.”

“okay then.” Yukiko

“whatever it is rod, I hope its worth it. We still have a lot more on our list on some things that we must do.” Sheryl

“yes, I know. But I just cant shake off the feeling that I must go now.” Rod then looked serious as he said that

“hahh.. cant you just listen to his request girls? He might have something in mind.”

“okay then. Setting course for china. So rod, where in china?” yukiko

“the tomb of the first emperor”

At the skies of china just right above the research camp still studying the terra cotta warriors.

“can I see who is in charge in here?” rod said to one of the archeologists walking around without his helmet

Rod had also changed into the titania, the titanium armor, as the temperatures were now not that very cold.

After some time of talking to some researchers, one of them finally notices his call and comes up to him.

“who might you be?”

“im rod mason and im here to see who is in charge.”

There were then murmurs among the crowd and they immediately moved back.

“what are you here for?”

“I will talk with the one in charge of the details. Though if you could my lady, please guide me to him.”

“hmm.. okay then.”

She then led rod inside the building where the director of the site was in the middle of arguing with some people in the halls where the artifacts were being displayed. Those men were in their expensive business suits while the director was I his work clothes.

“like I said! This archeological site is off limits to anyone else aside from the government!”

“what if we have connections with the government?”

“we could just easily enter there as we please.”

“l-like I said. This is with the Chinese government and we do not allow any outsiders to trample on these grounds, even if it’s a fellow Chinese.”

“hahh.. we will come at another time then.”

“just wait until we receive approval from the president himself.”

The director was sweating bullets as the two men left.

“director, I have rod mason here for you.”

“w-wow! Rod mason here?! You are all over the internet and are those videos even true?” the director then went to him in relief

“yup. They are all real. It would just be up to you if you would believe it or not.”

“w-w-what are you even doing here? Don’t you have work? Can I have your autograph?” the director then shook hands with rod

“ehem.. director, I believe that hes here for another reason.”

“o-oh.. sorry. I lost composure there. What is it then rod mason?”

“let me get to the chase here. Would it be alright if I could know more about the first emperors tomb?”

“yes, certainly.. whew.. im glad your not like those other gentlemen there.”

“what do you mean?”

“y-you see.. they were forcing us to open the tomb by all means necessary.”

“I do apologize for that greatly director. If only you hadn’t..” she then gritted her teeth and clenched her fist as she restrains herself from saying anymore

“I think I kinda get the whole program. But just why would they now want to open the tomb now?”

“ever since your escapade with finding lost cities and stuff, my father has been hooked up to the idea of finding more riches than ever before.”

“so One of them was your father?” rod

“yes. Im ling chi lin, the daughter of fu chi lin, the head of fu corporation.”

“if only they wouldn’t bother us with our work here. Those rich guys should have just stayed in their empires.” The director said cursing

“sorry about my father director.” She then turned her attention to rod “I have actually read your book and it was a good book indeed. From your wisdom, I understood immediately about the dangers that lie if you will pursue the impossible. But I have got to say, you are pursuing the impossible despite what you said in your book and videos.”

“yes. Since I wrote the book, it was also my responsibility to warn everyone again of the clear dangers they would face once they will do stupid things.”

“hahh.. if only my papa would listen to what I say. I even told him the wisdom from your own book.”

“and what did he say ling?” director

“he just said what do you know about life? What does that stupid author also knows about life? Your just young and arrogant! Grow up some more before you can say anything to me.”

“hahh.. the pride of the old.” Rod

“its quite alright child. Im used to somethings like this. But I tell you, they have been coming here for almost everyday now! Its so very annoying!”

“I can feel you about that. Though we should really protect the tomb from them or else danger will come to them.”

“danger? What kind of danger?” ling

“you already read in books right? As well as see in the science channels that scientists believe that inside the tomb is filled with mercury.”

“yes. But with todays technology, it might now be possible to enter the tomb.” Director

“really?” ling

“yes. Though there might be some slight set backs with that.” Rod

“after all this time that the government has just succeeded in letting the world just ignore the tomb, now all is ruined.” Director

“its all because of people—“ ling

“stupid people who just cant seem to understand the dangers that they are facing.” Rod

“I understand you rod. here you are saving the world from itself yet they just wont listen to you. You have certainly done enough.” Ling said as she was smiling

“hmm.. I should call in to check with the Chinese president on this.” Rod said as he excused himself into a corner

“maria, can you connect me to the Chinese president?” rod said after putting on his helmet

“sure.”

*ring*

“hello rod mason.”

“hello mr president. Do you have some time?”

“actually, im busy right now. What do you want?”

“I just want some answers.”

“then hurry up!”

“okay then. Would there be anyone who has requested to open the tomb of the first emperor?”

“hmm.. Im in a meeting right now and cant talk. But I do remember that there might be one. And don’t worry, I denied the request.”

“thank you mr president. We just cant have stupid people touch important relics right?”

“yes. That is chinas legacy for god sake! I will never let them touch a single brick from that pyramid.”

“nice one mr president. That’s all I need to hear.”

“good. Bye.”

The president hangs up the phone.

“so what do we do now rod?” maria

“I will stay here for now. You girls and the origami must stay up in the clouds so that they will never know that my full force is here.”

“got it.”

“please be careful there rod.” Sheryl

“yes my lady. I will.”

Rod then ends the communication and got his helmet off.
