Chapter 36:

Extra Chapter 1: From Sayaka's Eyes

The Nietzsche Protocol (TNP): The Cult

As Sayaka teased Shion about taking Chizuru to bed, she was left stunned by her reaction. Shion looked up at her with a shy expression on her face, and cheeks red with embarrassment. This was not even at all possible. Get the fuck out!

Sayaka knew Shion since she was young, and not once had she ever seen her make that kind of face, not even after enduring buckets of harassment or the unexpected kisses that she would give Shion. Before Sayaka had a chance to confront her about this, Shion took off into the tunnels, on urgent business, no doubt.

Sayaka slowly sat down on a lounge chair. Her thoughts raced. How in the fuck did that fire bush manage to pull Shion? Of all the years of directly making moves on Shion, who rejected any advances from literally anyone, how in the hell did this happen? There was only one way to find out. Sayaka was going to go full on stalker mode, and track that red-headed bitch to see how the fuck she had tricked Shion into sleeping with her.

Sayaka ran to the costume room and grabbed her brown leather trench coat, covered her long brown hair with a bald cap, and slid on a blonde wig that was cut in a bob. She threw in some blue contacts then beemed the bookstore staff, “I’m headed out for the day, if there are any serious issues talk to the librarian.”

Sayaka was unsure how the fuck she was going to find carrot top, but a good place to start was probably going to be the town square or downtown. As she walked onto the main street of downtown, she noticed a group of soldiers heading into the records building. There she was at the front, that sneaky seductress. There was no way she would be able to follow them into the building, so she climbed to the nearest rooftop and pulled out her binoculars after throwing a listening device onto the window where Chizuru and the team began searching for something.

The Sgt. next to the carrot top was speaking to her. Through Sayaka’s neurolink, she could hear their conversation.

“So Lt. I saw that you showed up at the same time as the Colonel this morning. Did you have another sleep over on her couch?”

“No, not exactly, Shi..., I mean the Colonel was over at my place last night, and neither one of us slept on the couch this time,” Chizuru said in a giddy voice.

Sayaka’s head began to throb. Shion never did that either. Staying in other people’s homes. Just wtf was going on here. The team began to rummage through things and Sayaka, bored out of her mind, started falling asleep. As she drifted in and out of consciousness Sayaka’s mind drifted back to the first time she kissed Shion seriously.

She had been packing her belongings and getting ready for transport to OTS when Sayaka pressed Shion up against the wall and kissed her hard. Shion didn’t resist, but she also didn’t touch her back. Sayaka knew that Shion didn't feel love for her in the same way, but she thought that if she was persistent, eventually Shion would come to love her. Bang! The slamming of doors signaled the departure of the soldiers and sent Sayaka into a panic after being so suddenly woken up.

Sayaka followed them to the research building where Shion met up with the rest of her team. Sayaka listened in on the conversation in the elevator when everyone suddenly got silent.

The same woman as before started speaking, “Oh shit, Lt. is serious.”

That statement left Sayaka super anxious about going over all of the possibilities of what the redhead had shown her team. After about an hour, the team left the building, followed by a smiling Shion and Chizuru. The two suddenly began running and before Sayaka could follow them, they were out of sight.

The next time she saw Shion, she and Chizuru were dressed in Rebellion armor ready to interrogate one of the bastards that was a frequent client of her shop. She stole something from Shion’s breast pocket before leaving them with the client. It was a ring box. Now she knew what they were talking about in the elevator.

Sayaka was getting ready to blow up with rage at the audacity of that red-headed witch, when Shion came to check in on her. She looked absolutely ecstatic at the mention of her engagement. Sayaka had not seen her that happy since her parents were around. And just like that, Sayaka knew that she had lost Shion to Chizuru. Heartbroken, Sayaka fled to the tunnels where she knew Matt would have a job for her as he always did. As expected Matt put her straight to work and told her to investigate reports of a cave by the sea.

Why didn't she decide to fight for Shion? That was a simple question to answer. She loved Shion. For many years, she had gone without even a single genuine smile. To see the person she loved be happy,  even if it wasn't Sayaka that made her feel that way, was all a girl could ask for.

It had been difficult to find, but after hours of searching, Sayaka was able to find the entrance to the caves. To her shock, thousands of soldiers were standing motionless at the mouth of the cave. She heard familiar voices speaking as she perched up on the ridge at the cave entrance. She saw Adam begin to move towards Chizuru and Shion’s concerned face, and her body moved on its own. The next thing she knew, Sayaka was carrying Chizuru out of Adam’s grasp. She would do anything to make sure that Shion wasn’t hurt again, because even if she had lost the battle. She still wanted Shion to be happy.
