Chapter 5:

Chapter 5: Their ordeal

Theater of the strangers: Part 1

Yata is just my code name. Only Niksha knows the real one. He is special after all. After everything I saw, I decided to do some research. Niksha probably has the same thing in mind, but he can't go because of the elite unit that was investigating what happened. Niksha is probably watching from afar. I was in the street to the right of where the incident happened.

   "Looking for something, Yata?"

A male voice formed behind me, interrupting my thoughts.

"Officer, I did not expect to meet you here."

      "Still snooping with that bastard?"

"I'm not in the mood for that right now, Milorad. I'm pissed."

"Aww, he didn't let you suck it?"Normally I don't fall for such provocations, but I had no choice this time.

"Jealous? I can give you some next time. I'm sorry, but I had to leave the unit. Also, be careful with your words. You know I can destroy you without even using force."

       "Don't think I can't kill you."

"It's not a question of whether you can, but whether you should.

"What exactly do you want with all that information ?"

     "Nothing you need to know."

"Is that all?" a short question filled with his nervousness. Behind him flew two men who had jets on their backs. The steel armor on their muscular bodies could protect them from a bullet. Their swords used their energy to form. Those men moved forward with the aim of killing me.Milorad left the scene. I left the stage too..

Two minutes later. Behind me, only a pool of blood and two pieces of armor remained. I was annoyed after what I saw.                                            Niksha kissed her. It was good release after killing them. I'll have to kill more, but who?To kill Niksha so she would suffer, or the opposite? Niksha didn't need her at all. He doesn't need the power of people at all. I am enough for him. I know he just used her. His acting is perfect. I would have believed him myself if I hadn't been able to see his true feelings. All this happened the first time we met. In the painting room, at the University of Fine Art in Belgrade, he was invited to perform in a play.

Opening the studio door, he stopped and fell in love with the picture I painted on the F100 canvas. I took a self-portrait. Bothered enough, I decided to turn to him because I didn't hear any reaction.

He was crying. Eyes wide open and shining like stars in the night sky. He was inspired by my painting. This is the reason why I became immune to his acting. The second time we met was in an elite unit in Serbia. He tried to manipulate me with a similar technique he used on that woman, but having seen his true face before, I didn't fall for it. Today, Niksha doesn't know how to behave around me because of that. He soon found himself in an identity crisis. He pretends to be a different person around everyone. A person he doesn't know. It was an understatement to say that he was duplicitous.I was resistant to that acting so I can't blame her. I'll have to get rid of her with some painless solution.

I saw Niksha looking around nearby.I heard all the conversation he had with Katarina. It was easy with my chip. Knowing him, he shouldn't have gone to her to let her know he was alive. With that in mind, I headed to the Cultural Center. I had to hurry, so as not to see Niksha if my thoughts are wrong after all. From his story, I knew exactly where the dance room was. After knocking  on the door to which I got the answer, "It's free!" I entered it and saw Katarina standing looking out the window of the building. At that moment she immediately turned around, probably expecting Niksha. On her face, confusion was drawn.

   "Who are you?" she shouted.

"Niksha is dead," I said with a sharp look and tone. In the same second, she falls to the floor in tears without any questions. I wasted no time and immediately disappeared from the dance room. I heard the stairs and I ran to them to hide on the part of the stairs that led to the second floor. It was Niksha. He entered the dance room. As I had already said not so long time ago, I had access to their conversation through my secondary device that I was using. After listening to everything, I regret what I did. After all, he went to her instead of me. From the conversation, I realized it was time for him to leave the dance room. I was ready to follow his next move. He stopped at the stairs. I can't hear what he could be doing. The next moment, the conversation started.

...

...

"I don't have time for that now. The subject is serious."

It was a phone conversation.

  ...

 ...

 "Yes, yes."

  ...

...

  "Yes, Yata. We're both fine."...

Looks like he was talking to me. I'm glad he called me so quickly, but this situation was dangerous. Since they decided to attack me, it's only a matter of time before they attack Niksha too. Their plan is this bet or whatever. It will take time, and the organization's plan to get rid of us will probably be realized by then. I'll have to buy them time. I hope I can protect Katarina, it would be a shame if something happened to her nyuck nyuck nyuck!! Niksha will probably return the wardrobe he borrowed right away. I want to be there! Nyuckkk! After I get out I will probably be attacked by a the elite unit. The thing is that parts of the organization of smaller states contain very little information about the goal of the organization itself. They try to kill me without knowing the reason they are doing it. I am afraid if Niksha will be able to defend himself. He finally ended the call and put the phone in his pocket.             "Take care, Yata," Niksha said.

You could feel the concern in his voice.         "Nyuck nyuck nyuck! Victory is mine, Katarina." I realized I don't have time for that. I hurried as Niksha must have left the building. As I also left the building, I could see him about 100 meters from the Cultural Center. He headed towards my house. Looking from a distance, it was obvious that people were following him. They did not carry any additional equipment.. They probably just had guns with them, thinking they could stop him with just that. Nyuck nyuck! My hiding mission was successful. No one except me and Katarina knows that he has altered DNA. I have to follow people who follow him. It sounded a little silly, it's a wonder I left the house at all. I want to finish that painting so I can give it to Niksha. After all, I don't plan on sticking with him for long. It will all be over soon. I decided to hurry. I must not let them kill Niksha before my plans are completed. Now, I got closer to people following him. We were in a back street, without anyone anywhere. They were ready to draw their pistols at any moment and kill Niksha. I wasn't the only one who realized that.

"May I help you in any way, gentlemen?" The voice came from Niksha, with a hint of nervousness at being insulted. The thing about Niksha is something he won't show everyone, but he is

Narcissist...

He was mad for being underestimated. At the same second, Niksha turns around with his arms outstretched. The men who followed him pull out their pistols the same moment, but..

They stopped? At the very moment, they fell to the ground. It could be seen just a trail of blood under their bodies. He continued to walk nonchalantly, without any concern that he had left the bodies in the middle of that same back alley. He needn't have worried. He had me cover up all his mistakes, but maybe he got too used to it, nyuck! After everything I did, he still didn't choose me... I approached the bodies to find out how he killed them. I felt a little wind.

!?

 Eh?

Huh?

Confusion was probably written on my face. I didn't understand what happened. I didn't even have time.        My head was flying. I was beheaded.

POV is back to Niksha.

After a little trouble, I hurried to Yata's house. I didn't knock or anything. I entered the house, then burst into his room even though I knew I shouldn't.           "We have to go fast! It's only a matter of time before they find us."

Yata turned around holding a paintbrush. He was working on a painting that he didn't want to show me. I didn't even pay attention to the picture.

    "We have to-"

"I said you are not allowed in my room."

"We don't have time for that, they found-"

   "Get out!"

"Yata?" He was obviously worried about something. At this very moment his face turned pale. He fell to his knees.                 "Yata, what's wrong? Yata??"

"Ah ah... nyuck nyuck!" came out of him with a painful tone.

"It must be that I underestimated them.."

  "What happened?"

"Nothing major. We've just lost some information and a place to hide. We're left with no other choice."

"It's not a problem. We can stay at my place, I live alone anyway."

    "Nyuck nyuck nyuck...Ahhh!"

"Take it easy, you're not feeling well..." I'll never get used to his laugh.

   "We have company..."

In shock, I decided to peek through the window, but the second I pulled back the curtain, a bullet hit the window.

 "Shit… we need a plan."

Then I felt a hand on my shoulder.         "Niksha, relax. Everything will be over in two minutes," Yata said with a seductive look. I raised my guard and turned off all the lights. I was ready to protect him. I would even give my life for him. The sounds of fighting and even screaming could be heard outside. We shouldn't have made the move. After two minutes, all the sounds stopped. The only thing I heard was Yata breathing loudly. It was as if he was in pain. I peeked out the window. I couldn't see anyone because of the darkness. Ran out quickly, while Yata just walked slowly. I didn't think if it was because of the pain or if he was acting confident, but I had something to see. I went down the stairs that were at the entrance. I was greeted by a large pool of blood, along with bodies lying there. All the bodies were identical, with armor so I couldn't figure out who killed them.

   "What the-"

"I told you not to worry about me," Yata said as he looked down at me from the top of the stairs. The wind blew my thoughts away as I looked at his confident smile fade.

    "Niksha watch out!"

 Huh?
