Chapter 16:
Cherry: A Blossom Anew
Taro’s arm fired up like a white shooting star and his eyes turning void black, Taro felt a faint silver tone cloaking his skin, a power he had been missing for so long. As Bombast threw another dagger towards Taro, black smoke broke the weapon into two, and a pure white hand pushed Taro out of harm's way just in time for him to unleash his powerful move. "Ghost gateway," he shouted, summoning his spiritual prowess to face Bombast head-on.
In the midst of the battle, freezing in mid-air as a white portal materialized above him. Without hesitation, he jumped inside and disappeared, leaving everyone bewildered. Mr. Z expressed concern, sensing the surge of spirit energy. He pleaded with Taro not to lose touch with reality.
“Where did Taro go,” wondered Kel.
“What just happened,” said Apollo.
“Son, are you seeing the true spirit realm right now? Do you remember anything from back then? Can you feel your mother there also?”
As Apollo connected the broken dagger from Bombast, he poured in essence and arrows, making it over one hundred yards long. He knew this move would cost him dearly, as blood burst from him while he slung the dagger forward, with Bombast managing to catch it. However, in a surprising turn, a powerful white beam shot out, ripping off all of Bombast's arms and leveling the forest grounds.
"Where did that shot come from?” questions Apollo.
“I’m right by you,” said Taro.
A white portal reappeared, revealing Taro. “You were completely unnoticed by everyone.” Taro's eyes shift to black with white smoke inside the pupil. His long black hair fades to gray silver, his whole right arm covered with white holy flames.
“I only felt a glimpse of so much spirit energy, and it feels so powerful. I'll burn the rest I was able to bring back with me. I can’t be in this forever; I feel my spirit being decreased by the second.”
“Hop on, then,” shouted Apollo.
Mr. Z flew over Bombast, shooting rapid laser rounds. Bombast swung its arm, spinning Mr. Z out of control. “Dammit!” At a close call, almost crashing. Mr. Z got control of the spaceship.
The bloody arrow flies through Bombast's neck, exploding; Bombast's head hangs off. Taro forces the explosions apart.
“GHOST OUT!”
A massive shining white beam shot forth, its sharp black razor tip slicing through Bombast's whole top part of the body, causing it to vanish into black smoke, but a dagger emerged from under the smoke, and Bombast delivered a powerful blow.
Rebuilding its body together, Kel and Sola flew like missiles. Bombast ignited fiery rocks at the girls; Kel swung the rocks around, sending them back. Two-star spirits spun off Sola’s arm. “Star style explosion!” Bombs ignited stars anywhere. Half an arm swung out, and Kel stopped it barely. She ripped Bombast's arm into pieces.
Bombast inhaled, sucking everything around in, including them. Kel managed to push Sola out of the way. Exhaling lava, it burned some of Kel's skin and clothes.
“AHH!”
Pai rushed from the ground, swinging a rapid attack with the feather-style blade. Red lines appeared across Bombast's leg; the whole leg was blasted off. Sola came flying behind but got hit beneath with a dagger.
Knocking Sola up, Bombast grabbed her. Like a pitcher, curling the princess down; clashing against him. Pai launched Sola out before Bombast's hell rainfall. The blitz of rocks cracked multiple bones inside of Pai, as the land shook, knocking trees down.
Bombast kicked Pai up; a blitz of attacks struck Pai with all four arms. It summoned one dagger towards him. Parrying the dagger away, Pai teleported above, splitting the beast's head in two.
“What the hell my sword isn’t coming out!” The feather-style sword heated up, pushing lava and flares throughout its head. “Dammit, give me my sword back!”
Apollo and Taro flew on an arrow, firing at its torso. Kel boosted their projectiles forward. Taro’s spirit energy decreased by the second, and Sola’s stars poured from behind. “AHH!” Flames poured from the feather-style sword. Pieces of red armor grew over Pai’s hand.
Bombast's herculean body entwined over its knees, and strong essence gathered around the lava hound's arms as they latched out. A flashing white wave of essence exploded like a nuclear bomb, neutralizing any attacks that came before it.
Kel was shot high above, passing through each cloud. Apollo and Taro were sent crashing into a lake, sinking to the bottom. Sola was launched through the barn, narrowly avoiding the blast as Mr. Z flew away. The overwhelming power of Bombast was taking its toll; they couldn't keep going like this forever.
A fiery rock narrowly missed the spaceship. “Guess I'm not in the clear yet!” Mr. Z fired missiles onto Bombast, but the monster continued to chase him down. Meanwhile, Pai crashed into the molten dirt, leaving a crater behind. Blood poured from his mouth, and his eye was badly injured.
The sought marking on Pai's face faded away, revealing his normal brown eyes. Danika appeared above Pai. “King, this is the power standing between you and Nova. The struggle will end when you reach Nova; this is a mere pet from those false gods.”
Pai coughed, spitting out teeth and thick burnt blood. “Fuck, I don't have much left in me; some of my bones are broken.”
“Who cares about broken bones? Are you just going to let your friends die all around you while you cry?” taunted Vanula, playing his mind games.
“Another Seeker?” Danika questioned.
Pai turned over, realizing this person was a Seeker like him. He sensed immense essence from Vanula, yet the man seemed strangely calm. Vanula's essence was somewhat familiar, and Pai couldn't deny that he was the most powerful person he had ever encountered.
“I’ve been watching this battle the whole time, and I've been following your little trail since your newfound journey. You guys are crazy. I can’t let you keep doing things your way forever. Sooner or later our paths were gonna meet,” said Vanula.
“Screw you, a helping hand would’ve been peachy earlier. You don’t just swoop in making demands,” snapped Pai. Vanula's foot hovered over Pai's face. “I could’ve ended you right here, and your friends long ago. I can still take all the praise.”
“Yeah, me too.” taunted Danika, holding an orange essence orb between her palms. Faint lightning sparks around them, as essence intensified throughout the area. “Good one, kid I like you; that's some Seeker you have.”
“Yeah, what the hell do you know about them,” mocked Pai.
“Isn’t it obvious, because I’m also a sought like you. Where’s your golden princess friend? She’s only been here for like three days and already causing so much turmoil.”
“Who the fuck are you?”
“I’ll explain later. When will you use that essential tool properly?”
“Essential tool…What are you talking about?”
“I can sense all this essence ready to launch out.” Danika floated to the sword, observing the essence heating up. The energy reminds me of that red being. Pai wasn’t even fighting at his full potential. He’s been fighting with his hands tied up. This is his trump card!
Apollo and Taro shoot from the lake. “You got any hidden tricks we could use right now,” asked Taro.
“I actually do.” The arrow he saved from his pursuit earlier. “Holy shit.” A shadow covered half the lake. A giant hovered over the entire lake, dripping blood down.
“I won’t be able to hold this arrow together forever; I lost too much blood.”
“Well, I’m low on energy myself, so we gotta make this count. Let’s blast this thing off C-Three.”
"Could you actually wait a little longer?” asked Blake, skipping rocks into the lake, purple lightning carrying it farther, even reaching the other side. Green essence crawls from under her feet.
“What the hell are you doing here, Blake?”
“Cleaning up your mess, the perfect situation for us. I’m Blake; nice to meet you, Taro.”
“You know who I am?”
“Well, I know all of you, even the Seeker connected with your brother.”
Jets and aircraft sliced through the air as above Vanula. "Did you really think you'd be the only person on C-Three who knows about Nova? We're all fighting for the same thing. There's a fire in us, pushing my people to put our lives on the line for a full victory.”
"We take care of each other. If we didn't, this would've failed ages ago. Also, I could use some more classmates. Class is pretty boring with just two people every day,” sighed Blake, looking at bombast.
Curious, Pai asked, "Who is this 'we' you're talking about?"
“The Vader corps,” said the siblings in unison.
“The Vader corps, that thing ripping up our planet is the invader?” Pai questioned.
Vanula chuckled, "Good one, but even this thing isn’t a real invader. Why don't you focus on blasting every last bit of essence out of that blade, while I give you an opening?”
“Release that arrow when my brother gives you an opening.”
“Brother, how the hell am I supposed to know?” Apollo retorted.
Taro, picking himself up, said, “I have some power left; I’ll block any attacks coming.”
Meanwhile, Bombast was relentlessly chasing after Mr. Z. He saw the three Vader Corp aircraft flying by and exclaimed, “Shit, so backup actually came!”
Be ready when I give the opening. We’ll end Bombast before it has time to regenerate; with that sun of yours, you can vaporize it.” Vanula shot into the sky, leaving a trail of purple lightning.
The three monster aircraft blasted missiles at Bombast, creating explosions of water that hardened the lava. Mr. Z flew by, dropping more bombs, but Bombast countered by shooting a rock that clipped the right-wing of Mr. Z's aircraft. "Holy shit," Mr. Z exclaimed as he twirled down and activated the hover pulse, landing safely at the last second.
“Good grief, I never have any time to play my games,” said Vanula, standing on the aircraft. A bunch of fire was coming out of my sword earlier. Could I launch this eyesore off the planet? Don't fail me yet. I need this to work.
Danika touched Pai's chest, and he smiled. "Yeah, I know. Let’s get this done, Danika." Fading inside Pai’s chest, his sought marking sank in, burning brighter. "Red sun, let’s see what you've got; gotta surpass our own strength."
Raising his hand, Vanula’s scar radiated purple essence. Lightning struck Vanula’s hand, circling around each finger. Bombast leaped for Vanula. Dark clouds formed around the aircrafts, lightning shot straight out. Bombast was stunned, immobile. “I got plenty more in me.” More lightning roared at Bombast. “GNNARRRRRR!”
“Now, Apollo shoot!” Blood leaked out Apollo's body pushing the arrow forward. Apollo lost too much blood, hitting the ground. “You brothers, don't let my shot be for nothing!”
"You don't gotta tell me that. I won't let anything stop us," Taro proclaimed as he rode on top of the arrow. Bombast noticed the massive arrow flying toward them and launched a fiery rock towards Vanula, but it was shut down with ease. "Fall back!"
Every aircraft reversed from Bombast, while Vanula continued zapping lightning among the monster. Direct hits left Bombast stunned, and it roared its loudest yet, blasting lava. Rocks of molten lava sprayed towards Apollo’s shot. Taro's arm burned glacier white, and spirit flames seeped into the pistol. "Ghost out!"
Erupting beams from the ghost trigger, the lava and beam made contact, sparking a storm of lava and black smoke in the forest. "Keep pushing, Taro, come on! Flames rip more over the arm. "Let me borrow some of your soul," echoes into Taro's ear.
"Huh?"
Taro's entire arm, holding the ghost trigger, was sucked dry, leaving barely any muscle or fluid, yet the blast grew double in size. "That's all the spirit energy left in me. I can't stay awake any longer," Taro realized, knocking all the lava away and shooting through Bombast's shoulder.
Bombast summoned a dagger from under, knocking the arrow off course. "Dammit," Taro exclaimed, falling down. He spotted Pai riding upon it. "Pai, go!" He touched the arrow, disappearing along with it. Bombast looked around preparing for Pai, and a blue light shone behind the creature. At the last second, two arms shot from its back, catching Apollo's final resistance.
Sliding across the land, Bombast couldn’t release the arrow because it latched on, ripping apart Bombast's body simultaneously. Pai walked below the sliding hound, his feather-style sword leaving a trail of fire behind.
Bombast launched fiery rocks over the sought, crashing to the ground; dense essence frozen Bombast essence and soul . Pai stood below, pulling the blade behind. Flares built around the feather-style sword. “This power—HAHAHA! Die...Solar flare!” EZZAHHHHHH!
Gigantic breath-taking solar flares erupted from Pai’s tiny body. The impact dented a crater, darting Bombast above. The flare ripped burning Bombast from the front, while Apollo’s arrow tore from the back.
Finally touching, they split Bombast in half, and a series of gigantic explosions sprayed, slowly fading to the morning. Bombast was defeated.
