Chapter 19:
Ring Fall Y2K
‘This whole situation is so screwed’ Oscar thought to himself as he started to sweat again.
‘They just … gave up!
In an instant! But why? Why did he kill the girl before she could transform?’ He couldn’t stop his mind from replaying the scenario over and over.
Oscar shook his head quickly, trying to get the images of the eyes popping and flesh twisting out of his mind’s eye. ‘I think I’m gon’na be sick’
The sound of laughter snapped Oscar out of his shocked state, eyes darting around to see what was going on.
The fallen with the purple crystals growing from its eyes shuddered for a moment.
It then walked to the exit of the giant room with the second fallen just created, a Relentless, in tow.
The enormous blue monstrosity waved them off and turned his face to the gold on one of the walls.
Oscar used the moment of apparent distraction to carefully step back towards the door he came from, trying to avoid any action that would make his Mech creak.
He could see the monster smile as it touched his hands to the wall, electric sparks flying from his crystalline flesh to the metal. By the time Oscar got out of the door, he could barely catch a glimpse of the Majesty melting the gold in his hands onto his own head. As if making some form of demented crown.
Oscar slowly closed the door behind himself as he tried to silently make his way to a widow, or any way to get out of there.
A laughter stopped the bulky man in his tracks.
He could tell that both the blue and red ones are coming up the stairs.
Oscar stopped to pay attention to the sound of footsteps, noting to himself that they probably started to walk in separate directions.
One foot after the other the fire fighter positioned himself close to the stairs to his floor, blade ready to spin at any moment.
His heart was pounding and adrenaline started to flow through his blood, electrifying his senses. He waited, waited for the shadow of a monster to turn into a target.
‘Now!’ He though the moment he struck.
The crescent crystal eyed monster barely managed to turn his head.
But for a moment it locked eyes with Oscar.
While Oscars body was already in motion and his attack could not be stopped, time seemed to stand still.
He felt himself observing his own body from the outside for a moment before a painful sensation filled every last shard of his being.
He could feel his teeth clench so hard his mouth started to bleed; he could sense his ears nearly going deaf from the booming sound of a cockroach crawling on the floor in the next room.
Evey color became a different type of retinal torture as his mind was filled with sensations in volumes it could not handle. By the time he managed to realize he was feeling his skin rub against his muscles and the constant weight his guts were touching themselves, his blade already split the head of the purple monstrosity.
In an instant the torture was gone and Oscar found himself opening the glass cover of his cockpit just to not vomit inside his suit.
His knees were weak, and his arms shook. He could tell his eyes were watering and nose was bleeding. But dammit he was alive!
In a few moments the Relentless barged into the room where the fight just took place.
It walked around the body of the just slayed Fallen, cackling at the sight of the gore.
It looked to its left and right, expecting to see an adversary.
The moment it took another step forward Oscar fell from the ceiling of the hallway blade in hand and sliced the brain in half. “From the top rope!” Oscar yelled as he slammed against the ground in a well-practiced roll.
Oscar’s mind was a mess. He felt as if he was fading in and out of consciousness for a moment, standing up and rebalancing. “I gotta go home.” He lamented “but first I need to take care of that blue one” Oscar said aloud amidst the brain fog and memories of fire flashing in and out of his consciousness.
“He touched his hand to his ear and noticed it was seriously bleeding but wiped the blood on his shirt and started to drag his feet to one of the balconies.
He closed the cover of his cockpit and slowly stepped once again to the main chamber.
When he emerged, Oscar was right above the Majesty.
His arms were outstretched as his gold covered head seemed to be looking up at the ceiling.
He moved, almost as if dancing, seemingly looking at his own reflection through the puddles melted of gold on the floor and walls.
Oscar got closer and waited.
The monster seemed to lash out in its dance and laugh as well as cry in front of what seemed like an imaginary audience.
Only when it took a bow did Oscar strike.
Only when the nape of its neck was exposed did he jump.
As soon as his legs touched the back of the monster, it whipped its head backwards.
Oscar’s saw spun as it descended on the spine of the Fallen.
For a moment he thought he could do it, only to sober up with the sensation of falling.
Realizing how stupid what he was doing is, but knowing he could not back down now, Oscar screamed as he swung with all his might.
A huge crash was heard, Oscar’s blade shattered upon impact with the gold covered crystalline mass.
Shards of metal flew in all directions, imbedding themselves on the back of the monster; the largest chunk of the now useless saw now imbedded into its shoulder.
The monster screamed as it whipped its lamp and hit Oscar right in the side, sending armored man flying towards the stage.
He hit the ground and did his best to roll and decrease the impact, but his head hit the side of his cockpit pretty hard, and the world began to spin
