“But why did you destroy the statues?” Louis pleaded with Anya, both of them lay on their backs on the same large and sunbathed stone.

“You blew up the windows! You’re a local! I just followed your example!” Anya managed to protest amidst heavy breathing

Even ward found himself a nice warm boulder to place his back on as he sat and ate his crackers “Would you two stop bickering for one moment and toss me some cheese? I ran out.”

Ward said half chuckling.

“Why wont you come take it Mon Frere. We have room on the rock” Louis said, raising the cheese but otherwise remaining on his back

“Brother! Ain’t no way I am standing up right now” William said, looking at the sky.

They were beautiful, at least the parts he could see with the web of rock and glass above him.

Even the part of the ring they could see from here gave the sky a unique shine.

William’s thoughts were abruptly cut as Louis stood up and walked towards him, cheese in hand and smiling.

“By the way. You keep calling me Mon Frere , I am not sure I understand what it means. Could you please explain?” William said receiving the cheese and making room for Luis next to his rock.

Louis sat next to William.

“Well. The way I see it, the moment the sky starts to fall we al turn to brothers and sisters. All of humanity, whether we like it or not. In French it means my brother. I am calling ladies the French equivalent to sister too. But you called me brother without even understanding! So, we must be brothers now!” he said, offering his captain cheese and some leftover salami

“HAHAHAHA! Well... I think I agree. “ William said laughing and placed one hand over his brothers shoulder.

“How are you doing Ma sœur? Are the jellyfish ok ? “ Louis said with a smile.

“It will take some time, but they are printing more of themselves. I know we are not moving for thirty minutes already but we are going to need a at least another thirty” Kaya replied as she sat on the foot of Undying and fiddled with a touch screen.

“And once again how are you?” Louis said with a more insisting voice. “How can I help? You haven’t rested until now.”

“I cant just sit here and do nothing; my mind will explode. These …things! Had mouths in places that should ABSOLUTLY not have mouths!” Kaya said hands shaking.

William looked at his new brother with a reassuring look and Louis stood up and walked to Kaya with the cheese and crackers leaving ward with the sliced-up salami.

“I have at least four jellyfish currently merging with Nomad’s leg while another two are currently reattaching the arm of undying. Ward your mech is good to go.” Kaya said before she even saw Louis approach.

“Cheese and crackers?” the French man offered with a smile.” I can also get you some more water”

“No thanks.” she replied. “ but I will take some of that cheese.”

While Louis and Kaya talked, William decided that Anya had the right idea all along and decided to lie down beside her on her flat rock. She silently passed him one of her earphones and they both listened to music in silence.

“You are doing great. The teeth were a bit much for me as well .” William heard Louis say to kaya in the distance. ”Really? You were right in front of them” she replied.

“Yes, one of them nearly got me. I am very lucky our captain is as good with guns as he is.” Louis said softly

“I will fix that.” She said as she finished telling the last of the commands to the jellyfish and placed the touchscreen aside.

”But the fix is not perfect. It won’t last another major hit like that.” she said, placing her head on Undying’s shin. Louis started to talk more quietly while changing his body language to a more relaxed one, this signaled to William that he should not pay attention to the private conversation that followed.

In Wards opinion they seemed to have a small moment between them that should not be disturbed. So, in order to give them as much privacy as possible he focused on his rest for the next few minutes, assisted by Anya’s top-notch playlist.

“Who wrote those songs? I don’t know any of them” William asked with one eye closed.

“My husband.” She said with a voice that made William open his eyes wide. “I usually listen to his music in missions, it reminds me why I am doing this.” She said, moving some of her blonde hair from her face.

“I… didn’t know.” William said. “He is really good! Was… really… good. Sorry.” He bumbled.

“Its ok. I take it as a compliment. But is it ok if we do not talk and just listen to music. Rest is important and we should not neglect it. “ She said, trying to hide some emotions rising to the surface. ”Of course” William replied.

While the original jellyfish worked diligently on fixing the Mechs, the newly made ones surveyed the surroundings as a warning system. The group took the time to drink, eat and even close their eyes only to be woken up by a friend after a moments shut eye.

“Captain.” Kaya said while approaching Ward and blocking his sun.

“Yea?” he said, giving Anya her earphone back, which she put back in the case.

“I am not going to be able to replenish the missiles of Nomad and also some of my drones will be missing for a while longer. Anya's mech is back to being in good condition however it will heat up faster since I had to take a few shortcuts.” She said with a worried expression.

“This is more than enough; you are a true life saver.” William said

“This is not all” she continued.

“You’ve done more? Damn! OK when we’re back, I’m going to talk to Bastian to give you a raise”

“Look at this “ she said as she gave Ward the touch screen.

It was a video of a Fallen with blue crystals all over it sending waves of light and heat at buildings and roads far away “it seems to be a Majesty; in another video it is talking to a purple one.“ she said while showing a magnified video from a few kilometers away of a purple covered Fallen bowing to the six-meter-tall blue Crystalline beast before it kept destroying all roads to victory arc.

“It looks pissed!” ward said “and I think it commanded the smaller one. Usually, the purple ones don’t listen to anything that is not part of the hive mind”

“What if it is.” Kaya said. “What if this Monster is what controls the purple ones and they in turn control the rest?”

Ward sat up right and reviewed the video again. “This is possible but not likely. If this is the case this is bad. Let’s try and focus on killing that blue one and hoping it helps with how coordinated they all are”

“agreed” Kaya said

“Show this to the rest, I want them to start thinking about this.” Ward said standing up and stretching

“Mon Frere I know where it is! It is victory arc! The bastard destroyed most of the ways there, but I think we can still reach if we take a detour through Eiffel tower.” Louis said when he saw the video.

“Everyone in their mechs! we can not let this opportunity go to waste” Ward said, getting into his cockpit through the back of his Mech’s neck after a small climb.
