"you heard?"

"yeah, leo is gonna fight against some heavyweight!"

"whats more, hes a 2 time national champion in karate!"

"you going to watch?"

"definitely!"

Word now flows wildly throughout the school, which almost everyone is now tuning in to the fight. Then later that day, at the gymnasium..

"are gym clothes alright for you leo?" lica said, as she now waits just outside the boys changing room

"yes, definitely." leo said as hes changing in the changing room

"please do be careful out there leo, your opponent is tough." lica said and leaning at the side of the door

"yeah, i know. Though i always agree to things i most certainly will win, so you dont have to worry about it." leo said, as he now puts on his shirt

"yeah, but its not enough to let me be at ease. Im really concerned for you." lica said, afraid

"dont worry, just trust me on this." leo said, as he now exits the room

“but--” lica said before a leo did a headpat to her, which eased her a bit

“time to go.” leo said before he now goes towards the gymnasium

There in the gymnasium, when leo arrived in the gym, there was one of the 3 members of the karate club. All ready and in position, for a showdown. Along with all the spectators around the gym, which is maybe half of the student populace. And where the guy was now in his karate uniform, standing at the middle of the gym.

“we got quite the crowd huh.” leo said, upon arriving to the center, where the guy is waiting

“i havent introduced myself yet right? The name is bron jamsy, the karate club president, and I will be your opponent for this fight.” bron said, with confidence

“well, you already know my name, so I don’t need to introduce as well right?” leo said with confidence as well

“yeah, right. So lets have a fair fight.” bron said, with both fists bumping each other

“yes, yes. You boys are surely quick to pick a fight, so I will be the referee in this fight.” hera said, as she appear at their side, trying to separate them both at a distance

“yes maam, that’s ok with us.” bron said, as leo agrees

“alright guys, take your positions.” hera said, before bron and leo took a stance. “as this fight is clearly with mutual consent, so I will also explain the rules. No low blows, no brutality, use whatever martial art you practice, and don’t overdo it. This is a 3 round match, Understood?” hera said to both

“yes maam!” both of them said

“fight!” hera said before she steps at a distance away from them

At first, both didn’t quite move, as if each is waiting for the other to make one themselves. Leo was making a boxing stance, while bron was making the usual karate stance. Then as leo couldn’t wait any longer, he started an attack, and went on the offensive and forwards. Bron smiles, and rushes forward as well, with a frontal attack with his fist. Only for leo to dodge it while moving to brons left side, transitioning from boxing to aikido, where he grabs the opponents arm to throw him forwards. Then to deliver the finishing blow, halfway to the face.

“thats enough! Roud 1 goes to leo!” hera said, pointing to leo

“not bad! For a beginner.” bron said with a smile, as he stood up

“ok, ready boys?” hera said, before both agrees. “take your stances!”

Both of them now took their stances, and all ready. Where both of them are still doing the same stances.

“ready, fight!” hera said again before she steps away at a distance

This time, bron goes offensive first, to make the first landing with a side kick. But was dodged again to the side, where leo then does a round house kick. Only for bron to duck and dodge, land his other feet on the ground, and punches leo. Good thing leo blocked the punch, only to be flown at some distance away.

“thats enough! Round 2 goes to bron!” hera said, pointing to bron

“whew! Not bad too senpai!” leo said as he stood. “the punch really hurts.” he said as he massages his arm.

“its now a tie! Are you both ready? Or ready to quit this?” hera said

“last chance senpai, give up or regret.” leo said with a smile

“in your dreams leo!” bron said as he took his stance again

But this time, leo took a different stance, which is the same as bron

“why are you taking the same stance as me?” bronsaid, surprised

“lets say, I have been studying many of the basics.” leo said

“you boys ready or what?” hera said, looking at both

As leo took a deep breath, and exhaled with his teeth closed, imitating the sound of steam. “come at me!” leo said after making a serious face

“ready, fight!” hera said for the last time before she steps away at a distance

Again, bron did a frontal attack against leo, but this time, leo doesn’t move. Then as bron cries out at the top of his lungs, as the front kick was about to land, leo caught the kick by blocking it, and pushing it upwards. Then leo did a round house kick towards brons stomach, which lands, and lets him blown away to the side. And this time, bron felt a bit of pain as he curled for a bit.

“thats enough!” hera said, before she goes to bron. “are you alright?” she asked him gently

“yeah.. im okay. That was a good kick.” bron said, as he assures everyone hes ok, with a thumbs up

“and the winner! Leonardo rivera!” hera said, as she now stood to point at leo

At first, there was a bit of silence with the crowd, as they couldn’t believe it. But then, lica applauded.

“go leo go!” lica cheers for leo, as leo now stands straight to exhale steam once more

At that moment, the crowd went wild, as they also cheered for him.

“go leo go! Go leo go! Go leo go!” the crowd cheered for him for a long time.

In that moment, brian was also watching from the sidelines. “tch!” he said, before he goes back out

“enough!” hera shouted, before she went to leo. “you are now the winner, so what do you desire of the student council?”

“hahh.. I have been thinking.. that maybe..” leo said, as the crowd, including theo, was watching

“maybe what?” hera said, curious

“i should also run as student council president.” leo said with a smile

“what?!” they all said

“i mean, I get to protect both school, and my friends, at the same time. All while upholding a sort of excellence as a side trip.” leo said

“i cant believe we went through all that, so that--” hera said before she was interrupted

“well, lets all calm down for a sec shall we?” theo said, as he now comes forward, thus hera calms down. “we all now know your might leo, so why the change of heart?”

“its a secret actually, though I will leave that to your imagination.” leo said

“fine then, if you are willing to become the president, you must also know what it entails right?” theo said

“yes, I do.” leo said before lica then passed a towel to him. “that’s why, I will protect this school, as my side trip, all while I will do what I need to do in life.” leo said as he lets his arm around licas shoulder, pulling her close, and making her blush

"hahh.. Alright then. But for now, would you like to be in the disciplinary committee?" theo said

"why the change?" leo said, as hes still not letting go of lica

"i want you to earn your way to the spot, as even i also have limited authority on the matter." theo said, as a matter of fact

"hmm.." leo said as hes thinking a bit. "Ok then, i will do it." he said as he reaches for a handshake

"good to know." theo said, before they now shake hands

With that agreement, the crowd was now applauding for leo once more, for his achievement.

"when will leo let go of me?" lica said to herself, as he was still holding her

Later that night..

"i heard the news bro! You were promoted?" ruby said, with sparkling eyes

They were now at the table, eating dinner.

"news do travel fast dont they?" leo said, surprised that she knows. "yes, i have been scouted as one of the disciplinary committee."

"wow! Congrats!" ruby said, before they all applauded

"thats quite an achievement, for just your first year. Plus you just started recently." his father said

Ivan rivera, 50 years old, and with glasses.

"it certainly is dear." flower said

"cant wait to know what his future awaits." ivan said, as they all were happy at the table, eating together
