Ruler of the Stars: Part 4

Some gamers try to use their shields for protection, others are simply trying to escape the death trap but they are being cut down by by the monsters surrounding them.
A goblin is about to land a sneak attack on an exhausted Hiro when it gets an arrow to the back of its head and falls apart. Tayo fired it.

TAYO
(shouting)
Gotar, you have what you want. Leave us alone.

Gotar bombards Tayo who is behind him. Tayo dodges and runs close to Henry. He is now in front of Gotar, who stares down at him.
In an instant, Gotar propels himself toward Tayo and stabs him.

GOTAR
(with a deep and menacing voice)
Shhhhh.

Tayo touches the sword sticking into his torso. Red particles have started to evaporate from him and he is about to loose consciousness. He realizes that the particles look like pollen from his mother's garden and he hears his sister.

ARAMIDE (V.O.)
Drummer boy.

His mind becomes clearer. He looks at his injury and then stares at Gotar. At once, the professor's sword shines and blows Gotar's hand apart.
Gotar screams and withdraws into the sky. 

Bleeding, Tayo removes the sword from his side. The red particles have stopped, right now, it's particles of LIGHT emanating and SHINING all around him. His body is fully aglow veins and all.
He begins to hallucinate again, hearing his mother and sister's voices.

REBECCA (V.O.)
OluwaTayo. You are my joy. Thank you.

Tayo smiles despite the excruciating pain. Gotar is trying to steady his erratic flight due to his pain.

REBECCA (V.O.)
Don't spend too long.
GOTAR
(beast speech)
Destroy him.

The kilobons that were standing by, move in.

TAYO
Henry, if you make is back, tell my mum and my sister that I'm sorry...
No, tell them that I'm grateful--

As he makes the statement of gratitude the light around him swirls even brighter. He cuts in two, one of the kilobons coming towards him. It was armored.
Gotar then points a finger at Tayo and a fireball five times bigger than the others he fired, starts building up and growing in size at his fingertip. He knows Tayo won't dodge, too many of his people are behind him.

TAYO
I am the ruler of the stars, charged with all that is good in this world.

The light swirls and shimmers around Tayo and in an instant he steps to and cuts down the kilobon about to assault Marie and Rowen.
Gotar increases the intensity of his fire, the wind feeding its flames.

TAYO
Because pure is the color of my heart,

Tayo moves again and cuts down the kilobons round Hiro and Jim.

TAYO
and valor is the foundation of my soul.

Tayo jumps towards Gotar, a standard fireball knocks him squarely back to the ground, because of that all the light is now gone from him. He is injured and battered.
Gotar, still pointing is about to release the MOTHER OF ALL FIREBALLS to blow all the gamers away.
Henry watches barely conscious, Hiro looks alarmed and Gotar victorious...

but then Tayo's face steels as he shouts

TAYO
HOLY MAGIC

His sword explodes into MAGNIFICENT BRILLIANCE, blinding everyone around as his trembling hands point it in Gotar's direction.

TAYO
Positive Light.

He thrusts his sword at Gotar and a beam of light tears through the Kilobon and his fireball, causing it to prematurely explode in it's face.
The remains of Gotar fall dead from the sky and evaporate into nothingness.

Light radiates around Tayo and the red particles begin to evaporate from him again. The gamers look in awe as the rest of Gotar's army, seeing their boss dead, begin to run away.
Hiro confirms that Henry is alright by checking his pulse and his dashboard (by tapping his neck tattoo). He is unconscious now though.

As soon as the last of the monsters are out of sight Tayo lets go of the sword and stumbles forward. The light disappears and the red particles evaporate from him even faster. He is dying.
He collapses but is caught by Hiro who touches his neck to see his dashboard. We see that Tayo is now at level 44, but his health is dropping and will soon reach zero.

HIRO
Stay with me Ray. Keep your eyes open.
JIM
Is he going to die?

Hiro opens her pouch but she hesitates before bringing out the vial given to her by Daro.

HIRO
I won't let that happen.

She opens Tayo's mouth and pours the potion into it. The rate of Tayo's health drop, begins to decrease and eventually stops decreasing completely at 3%.
Tayo, though dazed, passes into unconsciousness with the hint of a smile.

INT. BEDROOM, VALIA - DAY
Tayo wakes up in a bright and beautifully decorated room. He sits up on the bed. Sunlight illuminates the murals on the room's walls.
He sees the NPC that Jim is dating. She runs out of the room.

NPC (O.S.)
(excitedly)
Jim, Henry, he's awake.

Tayo gets up slowly as Henry shows up into the room.

HENRY
Hey.
TAYO
Henry. How am I still alive?
HENRY
Hiro used her vial on you.

Tayo looks at his body. It's glowing very faintly with the patterns from before.

TAYO
What about her boyfriend?
HENRY
Don't worry, our loot included high-level potions and... the portal key.

He removes the bejeweled key from his pocket and dangles it in front of Tayo. Tayo is relieved. The curtains ruffle with the breeze. Jim enters the room.

JIM
How can I ever thank you?

He hugs Tayo.

INT. HIRO'S QUARTERS, VALIA - DAY
Hiro is dressed in a pinafore and Haruto is lying in bed. She fixes some flowers on her hair.

HIRO
How are you feeling?
HARUTO
Perfect.

Haruto gets up revealing his healed legs and kisses her.

HARUTO
Do you have to go now?
HIRO
Yeah. I'll be back soon.

EXT. PARK, VALIA - DAY
It's sunny and the park is full of blossoming trees. Henry and Tayo are waiting under one of them when Hiro arrives. She approaches them from behind.

HIRO
Hi guys.
HENRY
Hello Hiro.
TAYO
I'm really grateful Hiro.

He would love to hug her but he doesn't feel that would be appropriate, so instead he takes her hand in his.

TAYO
Thank you.

He lets her hand go. She is surprised but then in a friendly manner taps his shoulder.

HIRO
It's not like I could let my teammate die, could I?

They smile kindly at each other until a shadow overcasts them and a gust hits them raising some dust.

HENRY
That's not good.

They cover their eyes until the dust settles somewhat. They see what has been causing the wind and dust. It's a giant bird and it lands. Riding it, is Marie.

MARIE
I hope none of you are scared of heights. I thought this would be faster.
HENRY
Nope.
TAYO
Not of heights.

Hiro and Henry climb atop the bird first.
It's now Tayo's turn. He's about to reach the top when he slips, he is still feeling weak from his battle. He's about to fall when Henry grabs him and pulls him up.

HENRY
Careful.

Hiro also helps.

TAYO
Thanks.
MARIE
Let's go!

The bird takes off, flying above the magnificent vista of the hilled city of Valia, as the portal shines above it.
