Chapter 46:

Epilogue

Sora no Kiseki: A Bittersweet Return to the Stars

As morning light filtered through the curtains, filling the room, the girl opened her eyes. Her black twin-tails swayed by her pillow as she gently wiped away the tears that had formed. The warmth on her cheeks felt like the lingering touch of a fleeting dream.

"I was dreaming again..."

The girl whispered softly as she sat up, glancing toward the adjacent living room. There, her sister Mirai sat on the sofa, quietly gazing out the window.

"Good morning, Kanata."

Mirai turned around, showing a gentle smile. In her eyes dwelled a light that seemed to hold the same afterglow of dreams as Kanata's.

"Good morning, Mirai. I had such a strange dream. It felt like I was watching someone's memories..."

"Me too. I'm not sure if they were dreams or memories... but they felt nostalgic and warm."

The two exchanged glances and shared quiet smiles. Their expressions, though contrasting, blended into a mysterious harmony.

Kanata's innocence and Mirai's composure. Standing together, they created a mysterious overlap, as if they were living reflections of someone from long ago.

"Do you think we had the same dream?"

"Probably. But it wasn't a bad dream."

Mirai answered in a calm voice as she stood up.

"...We should get ready for school."

As Kanata picked up her bag, Mirai finished her preparations, and they headed to the entryway together.

The front door closed, and Kanata and Mirai stepped out into the morning light. Cherry blossom petals danced along their path to school, their laughter faintly echoing. They looked as if they were embarking on a new journey.

In the quiet living room, an old pendant caught a ray of light and gleamed. Beside it sat a small cat with fluffy gray fur.

The cat quietly stood up and turned its gaze toward the entrance where Kanata and Mirai had departed. Silently jumping onto the windowsill, it squinted in the morning sun, steadily watching the two retreating figures.

Kanata and Mirai continued walking, sharing laughter. As their backs grew smaller in the distance, Ten narrowed its eyes once more and let out a soft meow to bid them farewell.

In the spring breeze, their silhouettes seemed to glow as they faded into the morning light, signaling the dawn of a new story.
