Chapter 27:

Last engagement! Awaken the dragon

Ring Fall Y2K

“Our soldiers lost. But we killed their strongest combatant.” The Hivemind whispered to the Crowned Fallen’s mind. The six meter tall fallen sat on top of his throne, placed at the center of Victory Arc and made of the finest metals he could find and melt.

“Call all the soldiers now! They will come for my crown, and I want to be ready for them” The monster told his soldier with his mind while looking up at the sky.

“Give them hell!” Ward said firmly as Waterfall reached the zenith of the battlefield.

A deep and sudden sound enveloped the battlefield, signaling that a nuclear reactor had just woken up in the Dragon’s stomach.

The mech turned red hot while rising in the air, unaided by the swarm of metallic Jellyfish who spread like an umbrella over the whole space.

The draconic mech vented access heat from its reactor through hidden jets that now enabled it to fly.

It crackled with blue light, sending the jellyfish that carried it until now raining down on the newly assembled army of Fallen below.

The army seemed to be surrounding a large crown baring Fallen that raised his hands while speaking utter Gibberish. His gold-covered crystal crown was growing from his head, twisting his once human face to something that was anything but human.

The army itself consisted of many Hiveminds, about two hundred relentless and the surviving Devourers all in one group close to the leader while the hundred and fifty or so ten-meter-tall Giants surrounded the group in a larger ring.

“KIAI!” Kaya shouted, amassing light and heat in Waterfalls mouth before sending down a breath of shining death.

The beam flew in a straight line while waterfall moved in a corkscrew motion, blasting away everything around victory arc, singing its edges black but leaving it otherwise unharmed.

Most of the unexpecting Hivemind got the brunt of the hit while the Devourers managed to dodge barely, leaving minimal injuries.

The fire and heat caused the air to expand, sending Fallen tumbling on top of each other, opening the way for the next step of the plan.

“Now!” Oscar yelled.

The ten meter tall Undying that held the crouching Chestnut with two of its four arms, as if he was a dodgeball, launched Oscar directly at the crowned Fallen from the top of a close by building.

The air slammed against Oscar like a wall of force while he flew over the visibly confused army of monsters.

Before he reached his target, Oscar ignited his plasma blade.

He prepared his swing and aimed for the monsters neck but was impacted in mid air when the monster raised his hand, and an invisible force slapped him to the ground.

Just as the firefighter rolled and stood up in front of his adversary explosions rang through the air.

From the opposite side William shot six bullet while perched on top of a small seemingly destroyed tabaco shop. All the bullets bent unnaturally and hit the ground before they should have.

The monster started to charge electricity into his scepter, making it glow with light.

But the Majesty’s attack was quickly interrupted by Undying that tackled and dragged the monster off his throne and through a building, away from the rest of the army.

The army of Fallen wanted to help their leader, rushing towards him but being stopped by a wall of heat and death. Kaya left her enemies no quarter.

While her Jellyfish slammed against anything that tried to get close to her teammates, stopping them dead in their tracks, Kaya targeted anything purple with impunity.

Within moments of her first attack, all of the Hivemind present were already charred corpses way before they could make themselves invisible to Kaya’s many cameras.

The ground shook every time Waterfall’s breath made contact, sending stone shrapnel in every direction and sparing nothing other than the historical monument.

“All Hiveminds are dead!” Kaya said with grim satisfaction, twisting sharply to whip a ten-meter-tall Fallen backwards.

When Kaya had been busy finishing off the last Hivemind present on the battlefield, one relentless managed to get past her drones and grab a hold of Waterfall.

Though its skin was sizzling and boiling, the pain only seemed to motivate the monster as it ripped apart some of the scales.

The Mech shook violently, sending the monster in to a group of metallic jellyfish that electrocuted him on contact. She flew up to gain some height only to be interrupted by a jumping Devourer that aimed for Waterfalls face.

Kaya barely managed to bite him and spit out his corpse before getting slammed by a green crystalline Giant and be sent flying into a group of devourers.

The devourers ripped out many of Waterfall’s scales before Kaya spun her mech around with incredible speed, sending her breath attack in all directions.

The Devourers who were closest to the serpentine machine died instantaneously; the rest charged at Kaya, stepping on their friends corpses grabbing Waterfall firmly while the Relentless and Giants approached.

On the other side of the battlefield William observed from his perch as the Majesty roared and Undying was sent flying up.

“What the hell?” Anya shouted while William could only dread seeing something as heavy as Undying be tossed up as if it was a volleyball.

William kept shooting at the monster that stood there with his arms raised.

The first bullet hit the shoulder armor the monster wore and bounced erratically, denting the armor significantly and pushing the monster back. The second bullet was aimed at the temple, but the Majesty moved his head back, as if he could see where the bullet would be.

Undying crashed to the ground as the Majesty sent a bolt of lightning towards William, hitting him directly. William could hear the machine cry out as several cameras blacked out.

‘Thank the engineers for redundancies.’ William thought while jumping off the building and changing position.

Now with the cover of a residential building William changed both magazines, loading in explosive rounds and aluminum covered lead rounds. While William was reloading Oscar did not waste a second and already burned the path backwards , preventing smaller Fallen from getting to the group with ease.

When William looked again, he saw Undying’s hammer miss the majesty’s head by a hair resulting in the Mech getting the monster’s scepter to the knee.

An electrical shock passed through the metal frame dropping Undying on to one knee

The Majesty lifted the scepter once more, aiming at the Four-armed mech’s core.

Before the scepter connected a bright slash came from the monster’s blind side, cutting the scepter in half and saving Undying.

The monster looked shocked for a moment before it kicked Chestnut with enough force to send it flying in to what used to be a coffee shop.
