Chapter 28:

Victory Arch

Ring Fall Y2K

“Oscar! Still alive?” Anya asked, punching the knee of the Majesty with one hand while grabbing his ankle and shin with two others.

Crystals flew everywhere as Anya almost managed to break the joint.

“Ouch.” Oscar said as he dug himself out of the rubble, seeing Undying brake the grapple to doge a metal pipe that flew out of nowhere. She lifted her hammer with her palm placed close to the weapon’s head and hit the Majesty in the ribs.

“Yea. Still good.” Oscar said while running back to the fight.

Two shots rang through the air, causing the majesty to instinctively push every piece of metal away from him while spreading his arms.

The bullets flew erratically and exploded inside a parking lot to their side while Undying braced and remained unmoved.

The monster limped slightly before pressing his palms and elbows together.

Lightning erupted from every crystal on its body. Undying did the best it could to reach the monster’s head in time, but the Majesty was already spreading his arms revealing a swirling arc of dancing light.

William fired, aiming at the monster’s already injured leg.

The Majesty roared while its solar flare almost exploded, being only stopped from firing directly forward when William’s aluminum bullet hit the monsters knee.

The light expanded outwards and upwards while the Majesty fell backwards.

The arc of light burned the air as it flew skywards, ending the lives of a whole flock of birds that were now raining down on the battlefield.

He almost looked surprised when the bullet hit him, as if he was betrayed that his powers failed him somehow. William could see through his scope that the monster understood he had nonmagnetic bullets and was already planning accordingly.

The majesty stood up in un unnatural way, as if an invisible force pushed him away from the ground, lifting him up from his ribcage while a sound of metal bending was heard from below the ground. He quickly ducked and dodged Anya’s Hammer, gently placing both hands on Undying’s shoulder.

A flash of light erupted from the Majesty’s hands through the Mech. Sparks went flying, Undying seemed to reel from an invisible hit while the Monster sent himself flying backwards and directly towards William.

“don’t run away you coward!” Oscar said running faster to close the distance to the Majesty’s trajectory.

Oscar’s sword missed the Majesty by a hair as it zipped by and crashed into the wall beside the Oath, just a split second too late.

William quickly switched his rifle to a bat and swung for the already injured knee, this time breaking it.

The Majesty contorted, grabbing the Oath’s bat with both hands and sending a current down the mech once more. “Shit! this must have fried something important” William said feeling his mech slow down slightly, giving every motion he does a slight lag.

The Majesty started to punch the Oath repeatedly, only stopping once Anya shot at him with her Rail gun, causing the monster to turn around to see Oscar taking another swing at him.

“I need some help with the relentless.” Kaya’s voice was heard through the chat, accompanied by the sound of laughter and dragons breath.

“Anya go! Me and Oscar got this.” William said flanking the Majesty with his new teammate.

Anya did not respond. Instead, William saw Undying run towards Waterfall in a straight line, going through a building before vanishing from sight.

The whole area was ruined. The ground burned with half melted rocks and Crystalline charred skeletons along with half melted or ripped up bodies of multiple fallen and drones.

It took Anya a good moment to take it all in.

The metallic throne at the center of Victory arch was destroyed along with all roads leading to the place. A bright flash of light caught Anya’s eye, revealing Waterfall’s location.

It was surrounded on all sides with a sea of Laughing red crystals, along with many Giants covered in green crystals. They were all trying their best to restrain or kill the metallic dragon.

While three separate Giants held the serpentine Mech and pulled in separate directions, Kaya’s mech spun in place, ripping apart their palms before breathing plasma down one of the Giant’s throats.

Anya ran forward hammer and shield at the ready, noticing just how many charred remains of Devourer, drones and Hivemind were spread on the ground.

‘weren’t these green assholes smaller then me at the start of the fight? When did they grow?’ Anya thought while covering Waterfall with her shield and swinging at the foot of one Giant.

“You block them I kill them” Kaya said over the chat, breathing another plasma breath at the giant with the broken foot.

“You got it” Anya said punching with one of her arms towards a Relentless that tried to get to Kaya, pinning him to the ground with a metal spike from her Wrist-mounted weapon.

Anya focused entirely on defense, pinning enemies to the ground or breaking their limbs so they don’t move as fast while placing her shield between the enemy and her friend.

Kaya on the other hand let out aggression and pent-up rage that Anya had no idea the small lady had in her.

Anya could only look with pride as Kaya ripped and tore pieces of flesh out of the fallen with her teeth and claws while burning the rest. She was screaming with what sounded like a mix of fear and joy, forgetting the chat was open as she spewed profanities in both English and Japanese.

With Anya’s effort Kaya managed to deliver more hits at the Relentless around her, burning or eating their heads in a slow and methodical process. “Any reason you are leaving the green ones alive?” Anya asked Kaya while protecting her from a thrown bolder that grew in size before impact.

“If the green ones grab me, I can get out. If the red ones grab me I am dead. The red ones go first!” Kaya replied with a heavy breath, twisting in the air while dodging the Giants easily, exposing just how many of her scales were already ripped out and unusable in the process.

“Got it.” Anya said while a group of green Giants grabbed handfuls of metal shards off the grounds and threw them like dust towards the two warriors.

In an instant the shards expanded in size, piercing through the ground and threatening to tare through both Mech’s.

“Not so fast!” Kaya said breathing at the metallic rain with her plasma, melting the shards that threatened Undying while Anya stopped the shards aimed at Waterfall with her shield.

The battle dragged on, turning into a slow methodical slog where both warriors could not break their concentration for even a moment. But by the time Anya started to lose her focus, she could already see that all of the Relentless were now dead.
