Sleep. Waking up. Have breakfast. Sit by the window, waiting for the air-monorail to take me to school. Attend classroom activities. Lunchtime and some other school activities. Wait for the air-monorail to travel back home again. Have dinner. Throw in some leisure time here and there. Sleep
That's the life of me, the life of millions of students on Eath, the life of... trillions of students in the habitable zones of our universe. I think there used to be more students millennia ago, as in more people, but well, that doesn't matter. My point is that being a student, or rather, being a teenager, is boring, you don't have access to high-tech devices such as the Simulacrum pod, well fancy name for what's basically an upgraded sleep pod. Actually... is it even high-tech? Is there such a thing as high-tech or do they only exist in fiction? Doesn't matter. The Simulacrum pod, just like any ordinary sleep pod would, instantly takes you into a deep sleep, you can adjust the time and it will wake you up after a set amount of time and stuff like that, but most importantly, it lets you lucid dream. Well it's probably not lucid dreaming, that's an old term, they call it something else... nevermind that, it's a dream where you could do anything you've ever wanted, as long as you have the imagination for it, fly across the Milky Way, build a little rabbit pen, travel back in time to witness the beginning of the Humanity Ascension project, build a 5-meter tall sand castle, prank your neighbor without consequences... become god basically. So yeah, just a little bit more freedom than what you could do in real life, for an adult that is, not for a teenager like me... All that cool stuff, all the cool Accessions, even the Simulacrum pod, which may as well be as old as the smartphones, they won't let teenagers like me touch any of that stuff. Actually my bad, you probably don't even know what a smartphone is, my bad, i'm just a little history nerd haha
Though
I wonder why they didn't... you know? Feed you all of this information? I mean back in the day A.Is were made to be better at humans at remembering stuff right? At one point in history humans began to incorporate A.I into every aspect of life, installing chips into your brain to let you simply do any task by just thinking of it, everything became automatic, everything became perfect. Or at least that was their definition of perfect, because humans nowadays can remember much more than the then A.I models, and perform many more tasks than an A.I, if they're willing to receive certain Accessions that is. I'm not sure if humanity as of now has achieved perfection... But anyway, all that cool stuff you could do and experience as an adult! I wanna grow up into an adult so badly but my parents kept telling me to "Enjoy youth while it lasts" or "You'd rather not know. Ignorance is bliss". What even is youth anyway! Didn't humanity cure its nemesis enemy, 'aging' ages ago!?
Sorry i got sidetracked. I was meant to ask...
Why are you?
Well sorry, that's a kinda vague question, i don't know how to put it without having to... compare you to the A.I of the old days. I mean it's not like school didn't teach me about it, but i still don't understand what they meant by "Limited access to the bank of knowledge for your own good". I've once read school used to teach you actual useful things depending on your interests, well there it is again, "useful", one of the words i randomly throw around without actually knowing the whole meaning of it. But it's alright, i still love you buddy, despite you not being on par with the old A.I models, you're the best companion i've ever gotten, albeit the only one i've ever gotten...
Oh look, the air-monorail is arriving. And the other students have gathered around my waiting spot, great...
Sometimes i think it would be awkward if we had to, you know, communicate verbally, when there are other students around, but thankfully we could read each other's thoughts. It's just common sense? Haha i know, I just appreciate the mundane sometimes, like how the air-monorail just doesn't come get us the instant school's over, something about that... makes me appreciate life
