I turned the knob, then pushed the door to open it. Walked through the door. Turned the knob, and pushed it back to close it. My entire house is like that
"Mom, dad, i'm home" ..."No answer. They're probably upstairs..."
"Mom? Dad?" "..." "Mooom!?? Daaad!??" "Hellooo!??"
Whew i probably should stop yelling, running up the stairs is always so much more energy consuming than just running for some reason. I just don't spend much time exercising, maybe i should... but does anybody do that anymore? Well, except for my parents
"Oh dad... there you are! I was looking for you all over!"
"Hm? Oh sorry, i didn't see you honey, How's school today?"
"The usual..." There he is with his ancient, humungous headphones again... No wonder why he couldn't hear me "Dad, i know you love your headphones but couldn't you modify it a little? Would help a lot if you made it filter out my voice so you could hear me..."
"Haha is that so? No worries! I will turn down the volume next time"
"..." "Anyway what are you doing? And where's mom?"
"Hm? Oh, she's out buying groceries" "I'm just preparing for our fishing trip tomorrow"
'Buying' groceries. 'Buy', another word i don't really understand, i tried so hard but still couldn't understand how money worked in the day. Apparently you had to get a job, but how is it different from an interest or hobby? I don't think either mom or dad have a job? How are they 'buying' things? Or maybe it's just dad's tendency to use old-timey words
"You're coming with us right?"
"Uh- huh!? Sorry i wasn't listening" "Yeah, maybe..." I really don't get what's so exciting about going fishing
"Great! He might wanna see you after all those years" "Though" "It would mean a lot to your mom and i if you told us about your school life. You don't seem to take a liking to your peers"
"It's... complicated. I just don't get what's going on with my classmates... Or the world as a whole for that matter, and..." sighs "And especially you guys, you know?"
"I'm sorry for making you feel hurt dear, we can fix it together. If you just told me what's troubling you"
"..." "I just don't get why, you know, why we still... live in this house. With all those ancient doors, stairs, and furniture. I mean, you didn't even grow up with them. I just... don't understand you..."
"I'm sorry for overlooking your feelings. I can't argue that if your friends took a visit to our house, they would think it's an antique museum haha. But despite not growing up with this architecture, i have grown to appreciate the simplicity, and the genuineness of it, the style feels as natural, and as genuine, as my love for you"
'Natural'. Another word i couldn't grasp, or rather, the original definition of it. I think long ago, a long long time ago, 'natural' used to mean anything that comes from nature, and not artificial, not man-made. But as time went on, the line between 'natural' and 'artificial' got more and more blurred. In a world where you could rearrange every atom in your body to make yourself more attractive, without the intervention of any technology, how is that any different from 'natural'? If you could just will a tree into existence, made entirely of living cells, how is it different from a 'natural process'? Back then they defined 'natural' as any phenomena produced without the intervention of human activities or will. But are we not products of nature? Would it be more natural if a group of monkeys built a house instead of us humans? "As long as it's hypothetically possible, it's a natural process", and so there was no place left for the word 'unnatural'
Hey?
You haven't been responding...
Let me check your battery. As expected, it ran out... Stupid school, why must they give us items with batteries at all? Do they really have the same mindset as dad? At least give us a model that won't need 30 entire minutes to be fully charged!
I wonder what the most modern A.I models could do? Huh, 'modern'. The latest one is probably already a few hundred years old. Can anything be considered 'modern' in this day and age? Maybe just like my dad, everybody is living in the past. There's nothing new anymore
So quiet...
Maybe i'll just go to sleep
