Chapter 3:

A trip to the beach

Pizza & Peace

“That boy in the park… he was fun to talk to I hope I will meet him again…

Etsumi mumbles as she continues her ride, she looks at the screen to check the remaining time.

Twenty minutes…twenty more minutes it says on the display then I should arrive at the next customer. Hmmm, according to the map the place I have to go to is at the ocean side. That means…. I’m going to the beach, wooohooooooo!!!”

Etsumi screams full of enjoyment, so loud people are turning their heads. On the trip to the beach she sees a couple of rooftops with plants where people are keeping bees to gather honey.

“Wow, I really need something like this for my balcony. Fresh honey from my own bees, that would be so awesome”

She thinks to herself while inspecting them from afar. A lot of small solar plate farms are sprinkled across the city to provide it with enough electricity through the power of the sun. Etsumi loves riding over the bridges that connect the different parts of the city that are divided by rivers and one big ocean.

“What an astounding view, above me the blue sky and underneath the azure colored sea”

She says, the bridges have a transparent ground so you’re able to see everything happening underneath your feet. Boats, jet skis, hover crafts all of them driving in the water creating a spectacular view from far above. Etsumi notices how the road after the bridge becomes more and more covered in sand and the beach side begins. To the right she can see the majestic ocean with its waves going forth and back against the beach front. The promenade stretches along the coast with having some cute looking shops that sell food, drinks and toys to play in the water.

“What a beautiful landscape and all this sand I love it”

Etsumi says while almost slipping away on the road. She sees children playing in the water and adults swimming, young and old having a good time, A wonderful sight that brings joy to her mind and she immediately feels more energetic.

“I definitely have to go swimming here some time soon”

Etsumi looks on the screen of the bike, the little figure that represents herself comes closer and closer to the flag which is supposed to be the customer.

“Pheeew, I’m almost there, it says only two more minutes”

She rides along a couple of streets, she sees houses with beautiful gardens as she passes by.

“This street should be it”

Etsumi thinks to herself as she’s about to turn into a nice looking street.

“Hmm, number 83 should be almost at the end”

She stops her bike and stands in front of a cute looking house with a small garden.

“That’s it I guess”

She starts going up the stairs looking around, her first time going to a customers house. Etsumi notices how she’s getting more and more nervous not knowing who to expect behind the door. She realizes its harder for her not to know who to expect instead of seeing the person right away like it was in the park with Keisuke. Etsumis finger slowly goes forward and presses the bell. She immediately rushes back to the bike and takes off the pizzas of the back of the bike, three boxes to be exact. Nervously she tries to carry all of them at once, not really seeing where she’s going.

“Oh god, I can’t mess this up now, concentrate Etsumi!”

Etsumi mumbles as she tries to comfort herself…in her own way.

The door opens and a person steps outside. At the same time Etsumi trips over the last step and falls forward.

“Nooooooo!”

She screams out while seeing the pizza boxes fly then closes her eyes thinking the pizzas are all wasted now and the customer angry. Suddenly she feels something warm, someone is holding her. She opens her eyes again. A cute girl with long pretty brown hair and green eyes is looking directly into her eyes with a caring face expression.

“Are you alright?”

The girl asks as she continues to hold eye contact.

“Y-y-y-y-y-yes, I’m fine thank you!”

Etsumi starts blushing trying to find the right words.

“I-I-I-I’m so sorry! I hope I didn’t hurt you”

Etsumi stutters worried, trying to spot any visible injuries on the girl at the same time.

“I’m perfectly fine!”

The girl answers trying to assure Etsumi everything is alright.

“Oh no, the pizza!”

Etsumi yells realizing she just threw all of them away.

“Seems alright, none of them flew out of their box”

The girl says after looking at each of the pizza boxes carefully, smiling at Etsumi.

“Pheeew, thank god“

Etsumi replies sinking to her knees in relief.

“Okay I’m no longer gonna be a nuisance, sorry for the inconvenience, please enjoy your food!”

Etsumi yells as she’s bowing down apologetically.

“Haha you’re cute”

The girl says laughing while holding the pizzas ready to go back inside the house.

“Do you wanna join me and my friend? We wanna watch a movie while eating snacks and pizza.

The girl asks looking at Etsumi.

Etsumi looks up confused and a question mark pops up in her head.

“You can lock the bike in the front yard, I would be glad if you’d join us. Oh and my name is Ayumi by the way”

Ayumis welcoming smile and invitation eases Etsumi up. She also receives a really comforting feeling. Etsumi starts going to her bike moving it behind the fence of the house and locks it.

“Okay, I’m ready now”

Etsumi says, taking a last look at the bike with no pizzas left.

She steps forward to Ayumi and symbolizes her that they can go inside the house. Ayumi opens the door with one hand while handling the pizzas.

“You can leave your shoes here”

Ayumi tells Etsumi while going into the living room which is straight forward after entering the house. Etsumi takes off her shoes and follows Ayumi in the living room. Etsumi catches sight of another girl as she enters the room sitting on a couch with chips in her hands. Etsumi couldn’t see her face yet, then Ayumi says.

“Misaki, the pizza‘s are here! Oh and we have a guest. This is Etsumi”
