Do You Know CPR Because You Take My Breath Away

Just minutes after Mei abruptly logged out, Risa heard a small knock on her bedroom window. She logged out of her account and got up to investigate. Increasingly nervous, Risa got low to the ground and slowly lifted up the curtain. She was met with a familiar gaze. “No fucking way,” thought Risa as she drew back the curtain all the way and unlatched the window. The girl standing outside her window helped her to remove the screen. Once Mei was inside, Risa looked at her in disbelief. 

Mei was not scantily dressed but for someone who had just run in the dark a considerable distance, she definitely wasn't wearing adequate clothing. She had on a pair of bootie shorts that said “cutie” on the butt as well as a white tank top with a light sweater. Mei was shivering so Risa led her over to her bed and draped a blanket over Mei’s back.

The two had yet to exchange any words, but Risa wrapped her arms around Mei and pressed their foreheads together for a moment. “You idiot, I didn't think you would actually come right now,” Risa whispered into Mei's ear.

Mei's face turned red, “I just can't help myself. When you say something as a joke, I just want to do it for real. I've been waiting for such a long time to be with you again that any offer of closeness I just have to take seriously. I'm sorry if I am an embarrassing fool.”

Risa laughed, “You are both of those things, but your honesty, I find very endearing. I have never met another person who would just drop everything for the off chance of getting closer to me. In other words, don't stop being you. Here's a little prize for being so earnest: close your eyes.”

Mei closed her eyes and Risa bent down and kissed her on the lips. The blankets fell off of Mei's shoulders as she pulled Risa in closer. Risa was now kneeling on the bed and started to lose control of her actions. Both were grasping onto each other’s clothes, greedily searching for ways to come closer to each other, when Mei fell back causing Risa’s foot to knock over the empty glass off her bedside table. She heard her sister's door unlock with a click then reflexively pulled Mei close and covered them both with her blankets. The light was already off, so Risa was hoping that her sister would just leave rather than investigate any further. If she caught Mei in her bed, Reika would probably have another meltdown.  

Mei's facial expression was a mix of nervousness and embarrassment as Risa pulled her in even closer. It was a silly exaggerated expression that made Risa have to work double hard to stop herself from giggling. As the two got used to the closeness and Reika picked up the fallen cup, Mei moved closer, nuzzling Risa's stomach. She let out a gentle moan. That tickled! Reika stood near Risa, watching the bed for a few minutes, when there was no movement, Reika retreated back to her own room. Mei wiggled her way up and out of the covers and placed her head next to Risa's on the pillow.

“You know Risa, right now would be an awfully good time to fool around, but I think I would much rather cuddle here with you. It feels really good to be this close to you and I don't want it to end yet. Is it ok if I sleep like this?”

Rather than reply, Risa just put her arms around Mei and let her body relax and tucked her head into Mei's chest, after just a few minutes both girls were sleeping comfortably. The next time that they woke up was when Risa's alarm clock went off. Suddenly embarrassed by their closeness, both girls reflexively jumped back. Risa banged her head on the bedside table then laid doubled over holding onto her head. Mei rubbed her back until she felt better. Then in sneaky girl fashion, both girls put on their school uniforms, Mei brushed her teeth outside the bushes then at 0645 walked to the front door as if she had not been there a few minutes before. The two exchanged victorious glances at each other for not being detected. Reika caught the two’s exchange and instantly became suspicious. 

As they walked towards Noriko's house, Reika had enough of the two. “Ok girls, spill the beans, why are you acting like you got away with murder?”

Risa thought to herself, “Because we basically did.” 

Mei on the other hand was preparing to drop the bomb on Reika, when Risa turned and gave her a death glare. Mei casually changed the subject but Reika knew something was up. When they arrived at Noriko's house Risa ran to meet her in order to avoid as much scrutiny by her sister as possible. After their handshake Noriko could tell that something was going on but then saw Reika's annoyed face and decided that poking the bear was not worth it this time. Once they were at school and went their separate ways, Noriko finally spoke up. 

“What the fuck was that about Risa? You two were acting really weird this morning.”

“Yeah, something happened between me and Mei. It's not a super big deal, but if you didn't know, Risa is in love with Mei so I think she would take it the wrong way. Last night I made a joke to Risa in a game about being too cold to sleep alone so we came over to my house last night and wound up sleeping in my bed. Nothing happened, but we are trying not to have Reika come unhinged like she was before.”

Noriko's face turned red, and she appeared momentarily pissed off. Risa forgot for a sec that her best friend that could tell anything to was gone forever now. She probably should have just kept her mouth shut. 

“Oh Noriko-chan, I'm sorry. I didn't know how much that would bother you. Nothing happened besides sleeping. Scout's honor,” Risa raised her hand to her heart. 

Noriko settled down and the two headed for their homeroom. When they got there The classroom was in total chaos. Someone had decommissioned the teacher with a moral question. Students were throwing rolls of toilet paper all around the classroom. One person was drawing on the teacher's head with a paint marker another was working on the teacher's leg. Abuse of bots like this was unfortunately a common occurrence. Though Risa hated bots, she had never stooped so low as to join in on harassing one.  This behavior was making Risa sick. She grabbed Noriko by the arm and led her to the admin office where Risa reported what was happening in homeroom.  

“Fuck it. I don't feel like going back to class with those motherfuckers Nori-Chan. Let's play hookie instead?” Normally Noriko wouldn't agree to it, but if it meant more alone time with Risa she was down. She didn't want to fall behind after her and Mei-senpai had spent the night together.  

“Ok, let's do it,” Noriko replied.

Risa was an expert at ditching school and not getting caught. She took Noriko to the outdoor track and field practice area and quickly slid under the benches. A bot that taught sports was walking around it stopped,  looked in their direction then continued walking. Risa opened up her back pack and slid out her hoverboard. Reika thought it had been confiscated but in reality Risa had hid it. She fired it up, hopped on, put on her shades then gestured for Noriko to climb on. Hesitantly Noriko obliged, wrapping her arms tightly around Risa's waist. Risa could feel her quivering. She looked over her shoulder and said “Grab on tighter so you don't fall. Also can we go to your house?”

Noriko tightened her grip and nodded, “Mom won't be home today.”

Risa took off immediately at a dangerously high speed. Noriko held on for her dear life at first until she felt the freedom that came from gliding through the air so quickly. Her hair flowing with the wind, floor passing under them a break- neck speeds, and the weightless feeling of gliding through the air were amazing. Noriko was no longer scared and loosened her grip a bit. 

Risa felt this and smiled, “Wanna make a little detour? I think you'll enjoy it.”

Noriko gave Risa a breathtaking smile and for a minute stood still for them both. “Yes!” Noriko shouted.

Risa veered right, and the two dropped in the nearby aqueduct. She speed up to about twice as fast as the two approached a tunnel Risa bent her knees and told Noriko to hold on as hard as she could. Next thing she knew, the two were corkscrewing around the tunnel before coming out near the abandoned dump.

Places like that weren't used anymore but the recarbonization bacteria that was sprinkled on the refuse had yet to break down all of the garbage leaving large mountains of trash waiting breakdown. They sat at the top of one such pile and looked out over hundreds of thousands of box shaped buildings that made up the city.

Risa smiled at Nori-chan, “That was fun wasn't it?”

Noriko just smiled back and pulled Risa in for a tender and loving kiss.
