Chapter 33:

Full-scale war

Abyss of evolution

The mountain in the north of Izumo became the meeting place of the incarnations of the "great Shinto trinity". A misty haze surrounded it, hiding what was happening from the eyes of mortals. Even a volcanic eruption, a magnetic storm couldn’t break through the barrier. In addition, the outside world had enough problems.

The monks who came to Ami's aid didn’t even hope to see with their own eyes the main legends from the Kojiki myths. Frozen as stones, with spears in their hands, they silently watched what was happening. Omosa tightly clutched the suitcase with Magmatama, he was covered by Buki and Jutsu.

"S-s… Sanno!!!" Ami growled furiously, shaking the space.

"Sister!!! W-who is it, Ami!?"

"Our very old friend, and now… the incarnation of Takehaya Susanoo, the god of storms." Ami found it unpleasant to say. "Ikari Sanno!"

The attacker jerked the katana out of Fumiko's back and swung again with one hand, while the other reached for the monk's head, in which a copy of Mikhail remained. But Fumiko turned sharply, raising her leg in the air.

"I'm not that little girl who couldn't fight back anymore, do you understand, Sanno!?"

Fumiko roared menacingly, finishing the blow. Sanno jumped back, dodging.

"Have you kept your plasticity, Fufufumiko?"

"What, do you know each other?" Kamiko was surprised. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, he gave me that nickname because I stuttered and was skittish."

"And very annoying!" Sanno added and rushed to attack.

Kamiko blocked the way, their blades met with a resounding clang of metal. Sanno was wearing a large red and black cloak that hid his body and equipment. His long black hair, tied into a ponytail, fluttered in the wind with every movement. Continuing to hold back Kamiko's onslaught with the katana, Sanno left only one hand on the hilt and put the other under the cloak, quickly pulling out the second blade and striking.

"Oh, you!" Kamiko quickly dodged.

Biku opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, Sanno retreated lightning fast, swinging his katanas, which ricocheted the bullets. Rushing behind the trees, he connected two katanas into one, and with the hand freed from under the cloak, threw a dagger at Buki, who jumped to the side, the blade flew past him, stabbing into the tree behind his back, but then Toshi noticed barely noticeable threads that stretched behind the dagger's hilt. They entangled him, and then struck him with an electric discharge. "Aaaah!"

As Kamiko pursued Sanno, he threw a smoke bomb at her feet and headed towards Omosa. He attached the suitcase to the large backpack on his back and released metal cables from it, strengthening his arms and prepared to attack.

"Not so fast!" Jutsu shouted, throwing a magatama ball.

It exploded right in front of Sanno, sending a steel net flying at him, but Sanno cut it into small pieces in the blink of an eye with his spinning double katana.

"Sanno," Ami growled, attacking with her sword.

Sanno blocked the blow and kicked Ami away with his foot. She retreated, wincing in pain, her bare feet stepping on the tree roots.

"…it didn't work out that fast…if only I could have grabbed that head…that damn Fumiko always ruins everything…" Keshita's head tried to read Sanno's thoughts.

"Is this the one who made me feel so threatened?"

"He’s a strong blocking ability…" Keshita spoke to Fumiko. "So far I only understand that he wants the head of the Mikhail clone."

"H-How can you be conscious? Thanks for the information, you should rest." Fumiko looked at him with surprise and tenderness.

"Mellow, take the heads away from here! We'll deal with him." Kamiko shouted, emerging from the smoke screen.

Fumiko began to retreat with a group of monks, but strangers suddenly appeared from the forest, attacking with bladed weapons and firearms without warning.

A monk covered Fumiko with his body, blocking the path of a burst of machine gun fire.

"No-o-o!" Fumiko screamed, hiding behind the trees. "Mukibutsu is here!"

"Not just humans!" A creepy voice was heard from above, approaching.

One of the androids with daggers attacked Fumiko. One of the monks stopped him with his spear, but immediately paid with his life while Fumiko was running away. Kamiko noticed the danger and sent Omosa to help her sister, while she joined Ami, who was fighting Sanno.

"It seems that the situation is developing in my favor…" Keshita suddenly heard Mikhail's thoughts. "… but in the current situation, I can't hide my intentions, it's better to remain silent."

"Fumiko! I need someone's body, I want to help."

"What? Do you think… you can do it? The Mukibutsu fighters won't give us time to catch our breath. Aargh!"

"You need to treat your wound!"

"No time!"

More and more Mukibutsu soldiers were advancing, distracting the monks, who were unable to resist the androids. Jutsu and Buki came to their aid.

"Maybe…" Keshita doubted his idea. "I'll share my power with you?"

Fumiko suddenly stopped, while the androids were being held back by Omoza - the giant threw the androids around like toys with his cybernetic muscles. Although their flexibility compensated for their size.

"Not a bad idea. "I have a chip implanted in my brain that, in case of danger… Come on! But how do we do this?.."

Keshita looked down at the wound in his stomach. Fumiko was embarrassed, but she looked down and turned Keshita's head. He closed his eyes and kissed her open wound. Fumiko clenched her teeth in pain, and then felt the blood pulsating and pounding in her brain.

With her eyes wide open in shock, Mellow felt her wound heal, and then fell to her knees. Fragments of Keshita's visions flashed before her eyes, tears streaming from her eyes.

"P-poor brother… Oh no! This Mikhail… he's too dangerous now, we can't ignore him. Who knows how long the battle will continue, by then he could have captured the entire continent! Soda, can you hear me?"

"I hear you, I hear you, things aren’t easy for us either!" Kamiko answered over the intercom. "What do you propose?"

Ami and Kamiko attacked Sanno from both sides. He split the katana into two again to parry, but Ami and Kamiko were skilled swordswomen, and one hand for each of them wasn’t enough.

When Ami managed to concentrate all of the enemy's attention on herself, Kamiko jumped behind Sanno, but suddenly two more katanas with two more hands appeared from behind the cloak.

"Takagi-no-kami-sama!" Ami was surprised. "What have you done to yourself!?"

The new hands opened the cloak, revealing Sanno's cybernetic body.

"I just took one evolutionary step." He answered proudly.

"Ms. Mellow, we’ve carried out the order!" The monk quickly ran up to Fumiko, holding out a landline phone.

They laid a cable straight from the communication station on the outside, through the torii, all the way to the top.

"Excellent!" Fumiko was delighted and took the phone. "Headquarters, answer!"

"…M-mellow?" The connection was interrupted.

"Yes! We need your help, we need to…"

"Impossible! The Mukibutsu attacked all of our bases across the country at once! Not just us, but government organizations as well, they're planning a coup d'etat!"

"What!?"

"Armed conflicts and epidemics have broken out in other countries. There's a machine uprising in the US! This is some kind of madness, what should we do!?"

"I…"

"What, they're already here!?"

"Yamato," Fumiko screamed into the phone. "Can you hear me?"

The connection was cut off.

"Damn it!" Fumiko threw down the phone. "We can't split up, and Tokyo is too far…"

"Do you want to save the headquarters?" Kamiko clarified.

"Not only that. The Tokyo TV towers are our best option for sending a return signal that can suppress Mikhail's signal. The satellites are currently under close surveillance and protection."

"I don't want to admit it, but this Sanno is too strong, Ami hasn't recovered yet…" Kamiko reported the situation.

"It's okay, I can handle it. Go." Ami suddenly interrupted their thoughts.

"Does she have this ability too?" Keshita was surprised.

"Are you sure?" Kamiko looked at Ami.

"There's no way my 'brother' can handle me!"

"You'll pay for your arrogance, Amaterasu!" Sanno said menacingly, attacking.

"Okay, good luck to you!"

Kamiko retreated and headed towards her sister.

"…Tamiya, wait for me!" Keshita heard Miku's thoughts, constantly monitoring her condition in her sealed form.

"She's back! I'm so glad… but it's better for her to survive this battle in her sleep."

"She'll be well taken care of!" Mellow interrupted.

"More Magmatama… right now it's just a suitcase, the true potential of which is unknown. Mukibutsu might have misinformed us." Mellow analyzed the situation. "The priority now is to stop Mikhail's expansion. All that's left is to rely on Ami and the others."

"Everyone, listen to the order!" Fumiko said loudly and clearly. "Give Ami all the help you can, and guard Omosa along with Magmatama. Evacuate Miku's body."

"Yes ma'am!"

Opening a new front!
