Chapter 36:
Abyss of evolution
It was almost easy for Fumiko to find a manual for anything. But practice, a developed skill, was another matter. Keshita had adopted some of Mikhail's knowledge and skills, so the plane shouldn't be a problem.
"Excellent! Finally, my back will get a rest…"
In Osaka, Miyata had to help recapture the Hokoku Temple from the main castle. After that, they gained access to a business jet and went straight to Tokyo.
"Still no word from Mikhail?" Fumiko asked.
"Yes, he's maintaining mental radio silence." Keshita confirmed with annoyance.
"I see. Soda, will you keep an eye on the heads? I need to get ready. I need to figure out what kind of signal Mikhail is sending, how to fight it, how to modify the tower…"
"Okay, but which tower are we heading to?"
"To the SkyTree, of course! It's more powerful."
"You said Skytree, Miss Mellow?" One of the Sun Guardians suddenly intervened.
Fumiko nodded. Miyata didn't even have to fly the plane, the Sun Guardians from Hokoku managed to persuade the pilots, convincing them of the importance of the mission. Their business jet entered Tokyo airspace.
"I don't want to upset you, but according to our reports, the Mukibutsu have already captured it in order to intercept the country's television broadcasts…"
"Damn it! Then we’ve no choice…"
Kamiko noticed through the window that they were already approaching the old TV tower in the center of Tokyo, and an idea came to her.
"W-what!? Are you crazy, Soda?"
"Don't start, you know this is the shortest route, and time is running out!" Kamiko insisted.
"Sister is right." Keshita agreed.
"Which one!?" They both asked with a shout.
"K-Kamiko…"
"O-okay." Fumiko reluctantly agreed. "In my current state, I'm ready for that."
"Yeehoo! A family parachute jump!" Kamiko rejoiced.
Fumiko reattached her heads to her chest and put on her parachute.
"A-are you sure?.." The pilot asked nervously.
"Yes, thank you for the lift! Leave the salvation of Japan to us!" Kamiko said proudly, saluted and jumped overboard.
"Miss Soda, your parachute!!!" The pilot reached out his hand, but it was too late.
"Don't worry, she's always like that." Fumiko smiled and jumped after her sister.
"Eh?"
"Yee-e-e-ey!" Kamiko screamed joyfully.
"U-wa-a-a-ah!" was heard next to her.
However, the joy was spoiled by the sight of the capital, which was engulfed in the chaos of war. There was smoke and groups of people being evacuated by the military in different parts of the city. When the time came to release the parachute, Kamiko pressed the button on her jacket, which quickly inflated, turning into a voluminous parachute.
"You could have stopped showing off and used a regular parachute!"
"Hehe, I always wanted to try this feature!" Soda giggled.
The girls landed right on top of the old Tokyo TV tower. They entered the studio premises, explaining their mission. Seeing living severed heads and a cyborg, the employees and security decided not to interfere with them. However, one of them still stole a gun from a guard and shot them. Keshita, who was better at reading minds, warned them about this. Kamiko deflected the shot and quickly neutralized the attacker.
"He's from Mukibutsu." Keshita explained.
"That means the others will be here soon, we need to hurry!" Fumiko concluded, setting up the equipment and connecting it to it through cybernetic hair with various connectors.
"Damn it, they're already here!" Kamiko looked out the window, using the zoom in her new glasses.
"It's okay, I disabled the elevator!"
"They're climbing right up the tower! Looks like androids. I'll deal with them."
Kamiko climbed outside, preparing to meet the enemy.
"Buy time while I set everything up!"
Fumiko not only used the existing equipment, but also designed new devices, skillfully manipulating strands of hair like engineering tools.
"Hurry, there are more of them!"
"Ready! I'm starting!"
Electromagnetic waves invisible to the human eye went into "free flight", amplified by the device Fumiko attached to the antenna.
"I hope this will be enough… Huh? Earthquake?"
Fumiko looked down and noticed that Mikhail's head was beginning to convulse.
"It seems to be working." Keshita penetrated the mind of Mikhail's clone. "He's losing his mental connection with the likes of me and himself… But he'll only lose most of his control over his copies, it'll only slow down his physical expansion…"
"Yes, we've only bought ourselves some time…"
At the same moment, on the mountain in Izumo, another body was experiencing the same painful agony. Mikhail's influence over Miku finally weakened, and she woke up.
"W-where am I?"
"Have you regained consciousness? Who are you?" The monk guarding her asked worriedly.
"Aoki Miku. Where is Keshita? Untie me."
"Sorry. Although we were ordered to guard you, we’re not yet sure that you’re not dangerous. The evacuation passage will be ready soon!" The second one said.
"I need to go to Keshita!"
She screamed furiously. And unexpectedly for herself, bone spikes burst out of her, cutting through the bonds.
"Aaah, she’s transforming, grab her!"
"What's wrong with me?"
Miku looked at herself in shock. Without waiting for the monks to help, she ran into the forest.
"Damn, Jutsu, that girl woke up!" Buki called out.
"That demon is too strong…" Itsuki couldn't take his eyes off the battle. "Catch up with her and take care of her, that was Mellow's order!"
"Yes!" Toshi immediately went after her.
"Omosa! Any ideas on how to take down this giant?" Jutsu was curious.
"We've tried almost everything. He's impenetrable, but incredibly fast…"
"Damn it… we’ve to deal with him quickly, Mellow and Soda need our help!"
The giant had already killed dozens of monks and even soldiers of the Sun Guardians, but they continued to hold him and the other demons back, using everything, including their lives. With one powerful swing of his paw, Oni created a shockwave that tore out trees by their roots. And although he was fast, he lacked the flexibility to reach everyone. And the latest developments from magatama dealt him great damage, but he recovered.
"My glorious pawns…" Suddenly a female voice was heard from the core of the Oni demon. "You’ve already played your part. It's time for you to retire."
Sanno's battle with Ami was in full swing, although the girl looked more like a smoldering flame.
"Stop wasting my time!" Sanno growled, tired of the pointless battle. "The fate of Japan and the entire planet is at stake!"
"I won't let you and Izanami take it!" Ami spat out a clot of blood.
"Japan is already ours, how could you forget!?"
"Stop playing gods!"
"If you don't want to join the family, then don't bother me! Hide in your cave, like that time!"
Sanno rushed to attack, spinning four blades.
"Hageshi Kaze! Violent Winds!"
His attacks became unusually fast, Ami didn’t have time to follow them and reflect them with her shield and sword. Sanno's blades broke her defense and cut her arms and legs, Ami fell to the ground.
"Say hello to your father!" Sanno lowered four katanas at once.
But Yomi managed to block it with his shield, pulling it towards Ami.
"Fujiyama!"
"That turtle dome again!"
Sanno continued to attack furiously. But his blades couldn’t pierce the umbrella, even though it was cracked, and then he stopped.
"So be it…" Sanno calmed down and took out a small ball of black magatama and stuck it on the sharp end of the umbrella and then said in a female voice.
"Ame no Iwaya! Heavenly Cave!"
The black magatama split, entangling the mirror umbrella and turning it into a black prison. Melting, the magatama dug into the ground, trapping Ami in her own umbrella.
"This time, the world will not see the light of day again!" Sanno said goodbye.
He activated his blades on his back and went to Tokyo with the Magmatama, where Miyata was located according to Mukibutsu.
Their androids had already reached the top of the tower and were fighting Kamiko. She managed to throw many of them off, but they’d hooks, so it didn't help much.
"If they get here, everything will be pointless."
"Kamiko will definitely do it!" Keshita supported her.
"It's good to hear that you believe in me, brother!" Kamiko giggled, distracted. "Oops, another one!"
"M-m… ms. Mellow, can you hear me?" Suddenly, someone contacted her on the intercom.
"Mr. Yamato, is that you?" Mellow, alarmed, stepped away from the control panel.
"I'm glad you're okay. We managed to repel the attack on the headquarters, but we're surrounded."
"We can't come to your aid right now, sorry…"
"We're managing for now, but it's not us who needs urgent help… It's hard for me to ask you about this, but there's no one else I can turn to!"
"What happened?"
"The Mukibutsu attacked… the Emperor's residence!!!"
Amaterasu's descendant is in danger!
