Chapter 37:

The Fate of the Three Sacred Treasures

Abyss of evolution

"They attacked… the Emperor!? I knew that Mukibutsu had nothing sacred, but this is beyond all bounds!!! How dare they!?"

"Mellow, there are too many of them!" Soda reported.

"Damn it, what should we do? We can't leave the Emperor to his fate, can we? We’re the Sun Guardians!"

Mellow, in desperation, slammed her hand on the glass so hard that it cracked.

"Soda, go help the Emperor immediately!"

"But…" Kamiko hesitated. "Accepted."

"Wait, Kamiko!" Keshita's head shouted. "If you want… I can share my "power" with you. It should help if you’re willing to take the risk…"

"I agree!" Kamiko returned to the studio through the window.

"Sister… We'll have to hope for the best." Mellow agreed, attaching a strand of hair to Keshita's head, transforming it into an injector. "No kisses this time."

"What, your brother kissed you!?" Kamiko was surprised, approaching them and looking into the eyes of both her brother and sister.

"Nothing special, just the wound!" Fumiko warned to avoid further jokes. "We’d no choice… Come closer."

Fumiko injected her with the drug extracted from Keshita's head and modified by her device on her head. And she gave her a small injector in the form of a ring.

"This is an antidote for emergencies, but it’s not finished and will only weaken the effect of the drug…" Fumiko looked into her sister's eyes. "Be careful…"

"I'll be right back! There and back, stay here!" Kamiko said goodbye, looking out the window.

Soda jumped down, crashing into the androids along the way.

"Let's go for a ride!?"

"She's incorrigible…" Fumiko sighed.

"She's just as perky as I remember her… They're coming!"

Fumiko closed her eyes, concentrating on analyzing her abilities. And then she leaned out of the same window and began to use her dreadlocks as a weapon, holding back the androids' advance.

Kamiko transformed her bots into roller skates mid-flight and magnetized herself to the tower, continuing her descent.

"Yeehoo! I feel incredible!"

At great speed, she smoothly descended from the tower, jumping onto the road, and rushed straight towards the imperial residence, which was only three kilometers away in the Tokyo Imperial Palace, so Kamiko got there in a matter of minutes.

Soda felt her body changing under the influence of the evovirus, and wanted to somehow adapt it to cybernetic limbs, feeling their rejection by her torso. But so far, she couldn’t find a solution, since she didn’t have deep knowledge of biology or cybernetics, unlike the same Fumiko.

Soda, accelerating, jumped over the Sakurada moat with water and caught on to the fortress wall, which she climbed in an instant.

"It's worse here than I thought…" She assessed the situation with the help of glasses. "Hundreds of androids and even more ordinary Mukibutsu soldiers…"

Kamiko climbed down from the wall and headed towards Kyuden — the imperial palace, which was selflessly defended by the imperial guard. But it wasn’t enough, since in peacetime no one expected such a thing.

"While she has her back to me… now."

Suddenly, Keshita heard the thought of one of the remaining studio employees, as it was dangerous to go down.

"Watch out, behind you!" Keshita warned with a shout.

But Fumiko was too busy fighting at the window when the employee pulled out a gun and pointed it at Mellow's back. The girl's survival instinct kicked in, and one of the strands of hair at the back transformed and cut off the attacker's head with a lightning-fast movement.

"A-a-a-a-ah!!!" She finally noticed. "I-I didn't mean to! It happened automatically!"

Fumiko returned to the studio and ran up to the decapitated body.

"Damn it, what should I do!?" Fumiko was going crazy, clutching her head. "I don't have any more LSB with me…"

"Let me…" Keshita offered his help. "I'll borrow his body for now."

"O-okay!"

Fumiko pulled out Keshita's head and placed it in place of the severed head, they immediately began to grow together, causing even more horror and confusion to the other employees. She placed the employee's head in the LSB.

"Well then…" Keshita flexed his fist, adapting to the new body. "Let's go, sis!"

Together, they were doing a better job of holding off the enemy until Fumiko noticed Mukibutsu soldiers with a flare gun at the base of the tower.

"I'll handle it!"

Keshita jumped out the window and started to descend.

"Whoa! This is scarier than I thought!"

"Soda, report the situation!" Mellow sent a message over the intercom. "The situation is getting tense here!"

"I found the imperial family, I'm evacuating!" Kamiko answered cheerfully, but in a rush.

"Are you kidding me?.."

"Sorry, I'm just nervous. This evovirus is something else!"

"Eh? Don't overdo it! This thing is dangerous!"

"Okay!"

"S-Sorry, miss!" The emperor suddenly turned to Soda.

"M-miss!?" She stuttered, embarrassed.

"Did you mention that you were from the Sun Guardians?"

He asked calmly, Kamiko nodded in response.

"I have heard about your organization, so I’d like to give you something as a token of gratitude on this black day for Japan…"

"N-no need! Actually, they shouldn't have found out about us… I need to hurry to help my comrades."

"This is very important." The Emperor said coldly and sternly.

"Ee-eh!" Kamiko swallowed, not daring to contradict his majesty.

The Emperor led her to a secret room inside the palace. Unlike the rest of the building, this room wasn’t decorated in any special way. Only the ascetic spirit of Shintoism could be felt. The Emperor approached a small chest and opened it. Inside, glowing, were white magatama beads.

"This is one of the three regalia given to the first Emperor of Japan by the goddess Amaterasu herself…" The Emperor began.

"I-I really don't want to upset you, but it's a fake…" Kamiko was afraid to tell the truth. "The real ones were stolen…"

"I know."

"Huh?" Kamiko exclaimed, dumbfounded.

"Haha, did you think this could happen without my knowledge?" The Emperor grinned. "I also know that the sacred sword was stolen from the Aiuta Shrine in Nagoya, and even the sacred mirror from the Ise Shrine in Mae, which was under your care."

"But then why?"

"In fact, there were three sacred magatama jaspers, as well as three regalia in total. One string of dark blue beads was left by Susanoo, the red ones by Amaterasu, and the white ones by Tsukiyomi. The black and red ones were stolen long ago - their fate is unknown to me. Each chain consisted of exactly nine hundred and ninety-nine beads, representing the unity of the three gods and tomoe." "So that's it!" Kamiko began to guess.

"The six hundred and sixty-six white ones were taken, and these three hundred and thirty-three were left."

"The frame of Ami Haku's umbrella is white not only because of the white mirror, but also because of the Tsukiyomi magatamаs used for the frame… but why did it turn black?" Kamiko muttered under her breath, lost in thought.

"Hm, hm. You seemed to be in a hurry, didn't you? I think you need them more." The emperor smiled.

"Yes sir!" Kamiko straightened up, gathering herself.

Kamiko helped the imperial family get to a safe place and hurried back to Fumiko. Now, thanks to the evovirus and adaptation to cybernetic limbs, she moved even faster, but even so, she was late. As Soda approached the tower, she became suspicious, and a few seconds later she noticed Keshita's head in the hands of men from Mukibutsu at the base of the steel structure.

"You bastards!"

She easily dealt with the soldiers and androids and returned Keshita's head to the headless body lying nearby, which immediately, having recovered, raised its hand.

"S-sanno!" He pointed a finger at the top of the TV tower.

"Mellow!" Kamiko immediately realized.

Her sister was once again pierced by Sanno's katana and was lying on the floor trying to recover, while Sanno was busy with the head of the Mikhail clone. Having activated it, the head suddenly began to curse.

"Hey, you're that Ikari, right? I saw you at Mukibutsu headquarters!"

The personality that had been transferred from his own body to which Keshita's head had previously been attached, into the monk's head, the current Mikhail clone, spoke. The personality's body was left on the mountain in Izumo.

"Damn you and all of them! What have you done to me!?"

"Uh, who are you? Where is this… Mikhail?" Sanno asked, confused, but quickly understood. "Is this tower jamming his signal? I’d have grabbed Takeshi's head…"

Sanno decided and threw the head away.

"Now you're just useless cargo."

But looking out the window, Sanno noticed that Keshita had already recovered, saved by Kamiko.

"Shh, it's easier to destroy the tower…"

He turned around, heading for the control panel, but suddenly froze. A scream was heard outside the window.

"Not so fast!"

Ami was rushing straight at Sanno at high speed.

A spectacular return of the goddess!
