Chapter 38:
Abyss of evolution
Ami burst into the top floor of the Tokyo Tower at the speed of a fighter jet, grabbing Sanno with her and knocking out the opposite window with them. They fell with a crash at the base of the tower.
"You can't calm down!" Sanno kicked her away.
"The sun rises day after day!" Ami breathed heavily.
"Ha-ha-ha, but it seems like it will soon go out!" Sanno laughed. "The little star is running out of thermonuclear fuel…"
Suddenly Kamiko appeared, braking sharply at high speed and showering Sanno with clouds of dust from under the wheels.
"Did you order magatama delivery!?" Soda smiled contentedly, holding out the beads.
"What? White ones?" She was surprised. "Could it be an umbrella too…"
Yomi suddenly grabbed them and tore off several, absorbing them. Ami thought that he wanted to restore his energy in this way, but suddenly molten white liquid poured out of the bottom of the umbrella, forming new okobo on the ground like a 3D printer.
"Wow, thank you, Yomi!"
"Yeah, you remember, the umbrella was originally completely white?" Yomi's voice sounded from the bottom of the umbrella. "Until it was struck by lightning from a large black magatama… White is my color."
"So, the red ones were mine, and those black ones… Izanami?"
"They were originally dark blue and belonged to Susanoo, but Izanami defiled them…"
"That won't help you!" Sanno jumped out of the dust.
"Really?" Ami grinned, biting one of the beads with a crunch.
She easily blocked the blow of the katanas with the umbrella. The space around was filled with a deep grinding sound of metal, reminiscent of the battle between Kamiko and Ningen. And for good reason, because Sanno's blades combined the technologies of both. If the umbrella weren’t made of magatama, Ikari would have cut through it like a knife through butter.
Ami parried the blow and counterattacked fiercely. Sanno retreated. He held the suitcase with Magmatama in both hands behind him, giving him the advantage of four hands. Keshita and Kamiko rushed to help Ami, and the remaining Mukibutsu troops went to reinforce Sanno.
"Ke-e-e-shi-i-i-t-a-a-a!" Suddenly, a familiar voice approached from somewhere above.
Tamiya raised his head and was wildly surprised to see Miku falling from the sky, spinning her hair like a propeller to slow down. This wasn’t enough, and Keshita caught her in a hurry.
"Y-your hair has become longer! How did you get here…”
“Is that all you noticed!?” She was surprised, laughing. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”
Miku hugged Keshita tightly, who was holding her in her arms. Their minds met like they’d before, but now they felt completely different.
“Miku… I…”
“Watch out!” Another one rang out.
“Buki!”
It was time for Kamiko to be surprised. Toshi landed and detached from the parachute, joining the group.
“What are you doing here?”
“Jutsu sent me after the fugitive, and with her new abilities I couldn’t handle it, so there was nothing else to do…” Buki said with annoyance. “She was so eager to get here.”
“What about the others?”
“Am I not in your way!?”
Sanno growled angrily, attacking everyone in a row again.
“You bet!” Ami protected everyone, taking out Kusanagi from her umbrella.
Meanwhile, Fumiko recovered, picked up the head of the Mikhail clone and returned it to the box, going to the window to assess the situation.
"Jutsu, do you hear me?" She tried to contact. "Omosa!? Why aren't they answering?"
The Mukibutsu soldiers held back Keshita, Kamiko, Buki and Miku, while Sanno fought Ami alone. No one was going to give in to this battle. The people of Tokyo were fleeing the battlefield in panic, although it was difficult to find a safe place in the general chaos.

Just a few hours ago, Tokyo was the safest city on the planet. And although the news of the approaching great war worried everyone, people believed that everything would be “okay” and lived their normal lives. They met with loved ones, shared food, had fun, went to work and studied. As it was in one of the schools near the Tokyo TV tower, where a young teacher, Jesu Kurisu, finished telling a story about an evolutionary miracle to a student who stayed after classes.
"Victory!"
"The monkeys circled around the winner for a long time in the rain."
"I have very mixed feelings, teacher…"
"Even for a world that existed 7 million years ago, this was unusual and at the same time, such a struggle for life occurred every second. And now, little has changed…"
Jesu and the others smelled a pleasant smell that came from a burnt panther. They skinned her and immediately threw the flesh into the fire left over from the fire. It was the first such feast. The monkeys rejoiced and praised Jesu, giving him the largest pieces of meat. He greedily devoured the flesh of his enemy, chomping and mumbling something. Until he was finally able to formulate.
"Meat! Meat! Meat!"
"And what language did he speak?"
"Ha-ha, these were just spontaneously formed semblances of words. A kind of concept denoting specific things… Like every language has its own words: myaso, meat, niku, gogi…"
The monkeys tried to repeat after him, but no one succeeded. Jesu didn’t yet understand that only he was capable of his first speech. Since then, life in the group has changed greatly. Jesu was getting smarter at an incredible rate. With the help of ashes, he made rock paintings and a kind of first alphabet. It was more like an Egyptian one, made up of drawings.
At some point, Jesu realized that other monkeys were unable to speak but could understand sign language. Thus, their community grew and became dominant. Jesu became their leader, and most of the females went to him. And then, among his offspring, other monkeys appeared who were capable of speech.
"Incredible! Do you mean to say… we all descended from Jesu!?"
"Ha-ha-ha, well, everything is possible?"
Suddenly, Masuto's words were heard from behind the door.
"Teacher, but this sounds crazy!"
"Masuto!?"
"Excuse me…"
The student guiltily entered the classroom and headed to his desk.
"I forgot my textbook. And when I heard your story… I couldn't stop listening."
"I see. I'm always glad to have an audience!"
"Ugh, I feel a bit uneasy about this story and the monkey… What happened to her next?"
"Well, maybe I'll tell you the sequel someday. Now it's time for you to go, bye…"
"There you go!" Masami was upset, dropping her hands like a child. "At the most interesting part…"
"You should write novels, teacher!" Masuto said as they parted.
"I tried a long time ago, some of them were even…"
"A long time ago? But you're only 33 years old…"
"That's a completely different story!" Jesu laughed.
The children left, and the teacher was left alone with his thoughts.
"In truth, this is its sequel…"
He closed the textbook and put it in his bag and then went to the door.
"A fascinating and strange story that began a long time ago. Finally, I'll find out how all this…"
Jesu turned off the light.
"…will end."
At the same moment, an explosion thundered in the center of Tokyo, and people began to gather at the school, as it was one of the main safe shelters and gathering points in emergency situations.
In the darkness behind the scenes…
