Chapter 25:

Chapter 25 - Goodbyes and Revenge

The Girl Who Saw It All

My footsteps were silent as I approached him. Tears brimming my eyes as I knelt in front of him, his breathing shallow as he held his stomach.

"Why...? Why did you try to fight him...?" I asked quietly as the tears fell.

He said breathlessly, "..May...I'm glad...you're...alive..."

I couldn't save him, his injuries were too severe. He had multiple bullet holes in his body, it was a miracle he was still breathing.

"I...couldn't...let him........get a..way...with...killing...you...." he responded to my earlier question.

"Why would you...? What about your objective? You were supposed to confront your father...!" I said, pain resounding in my words.

Slowly, he reached his bloodied hand out and caressed my face, "I don't...know...one minute...I wanted...to...make things...right...and the next..." he paused to take a deep breath, "I wanted...to....desperately...help...you..."

His breathing became more shallow as I saw his eyes get dimmer. After merging with The End, I quickly understood everything. So that's why, even though I knew it was wrong, for once in my life I wanted to be selfish. Whatever I wanted to happen, would happen...and I wanted people who believed me, fought for me....loved me.

"I'm sorry..." I apologised, hoping he would forgive me. And he did, because I wanted him to.

"It...looks like......I won't...be able...to..keep....my promise," he gave me a weak smile.

I sobbed loudly as each word left his mouth and held his hand.

"...be...happy...May..." the light finally left his eyes as he spoke his last words, his hand sliding to the floor.

"No no no, if it weren't for me you and Lia...! Because of me..." I sobbed loudly as I hugged his lifeless body.

Even though I hadn't accepted The End initially, it was still a part of me. That meant that as long as I desired something strongly, it would happen. But I was too late, what I now desire can never come to be. A happy life with those two, a future that may have been possible, an untold ending.

I stayed there for a while until my tears dried up. This was it, the last person I had left was gone and I was alone again. I closed his eyelids and slowly stood, he didn't ask any questions, he only said what I wanted to hear, this power that I accepted was truly ugly and cruel.

Silently, I promised to come back and bury him later as I walked out the door. Goodbye, Demi.

"Ugh, I got blood all over my hand. Having a machine for a body has its perks, but cleaning it is the hard part," Solone drawled as he tried to clean his hand with a kerchief.

His guards walked behind him silently, grimacing at the thought of their brain being transplanted into a mechanical body. They couldn't understand what went through the heads of those at the top. Even more so, to kill their own child.

Suddenly, everyone came to a halt. They couldn't believe their eyes, she was dead. The proof laid in one of the guard's hands, but there she was, standing in front of them.

"Wh- what's going on...? How- a trick, it must be some sort of illusion! That's the only explanation!" Solone exclaimed as he stared at me.

"You look like you've seen a ghost father," I said mockingly.

He looked back to my corpse and then to me, I could see him trying to process what was happening.

The man who was supposed to be my father was a prideful and egotistical person. He only cared about himself, that's why when he cheated on his wife with my mother he didn't bat an eye. But that was what slowly became his undoing. Between trying to please his bosses and keeping my existence a secret the stress kept piling up, and mistakes happened frequently. He was a smart man when it came to his work, but a sorry excuse for a human being.

He gritted his teeth, "What the hell are you waiting for?! Shoot her!!"

It took them a second before they responded, continuously firing at me to no avail. I took slow steps towards them as their bullets flew threw me.

"What the hell is she?!" One of them exclaimed.

Solone turned to run away, but I appeared before him. He screamed and fell backwards as the shooting stopped. They took aim again but I snapped my fingers, slicing their arms off.

Screams filled the air and some of the guards tried to run away. They didn't get far before they lost their legs, blood splattered, painting the white walls red.

No one here would escape with their lives, they were all responsible for Demi's death. It didn't matter if they were following orders, I wanted them to die slowly, painfully. And they did.

Teeth fell out and their tongues were ripped out by invisible forces. Toes bent in unnatural positions. One of them smashed their head into the wall until they died, another bit into their flesh and ripped themself apart, the ways they died were all different.

"You- you can't kill me..! I've transcended human limitations, I can no longer age nor die!" He said triumphantly, as though he didn't see the carnage that I caused.

Maybe I would've been impressed if things were different, but I wasn't sure of the point he was trying to make. His body may be a machine, but his brain is still that of a human's.

I was one step away from him, "We'll just have to see about that, won't we?"

I took two steps, one to close the gap between us, and the other to crush his leg.

"No! What're you doing?! Do you know the pains I went through to get this body in such a hurry?!!!" He screamed at me as he held his leg.

I clicked my tongue in annoyance, I wanted fear and pain to echo in his screams not derangement.

I picked up one of the guns and shot him in his shoulder, he screamed profanities at me this time. The man was too far gone, to think he was the one who did this to me and killed Demi. Another wave of annoyance passed through me as I emptied the gun on him. As long as I avoided his head he would live.

One. Two. Three. Four. I emptied four guns on him before going for the fifth.

"Wait wait wait!!! Maybe the two of us can come to an agreement, yeah? Why don't you put the gun down?" He said, smiling anxiously.

I ignored him and reached for his arm, ripping it from his body.

He screamed derangedly, "You ungrateful child! I am your father! How dare you treat me this way?! What would your mother think?!"

I paused for a moment, this made him feel a bit of relief, as if his words had gotten through to me. But I only paused because of how much his words appalled me, to think that he would pull the father card after doing that to me and expect me to give a damn.

I gave him a sickeningly sweet smile, "I'm not sure, I killed her a while back."

There it was, unbridled fear took ahold of his features and he started begging or his life. But I ignored him as I ripped his body apart until only his head remained.

If robots could shed tears he might've done so.

I raised my foot above his head as he mumbled out apologies and pleas. "This is for Demi," I said solemnly, crushing his head.

I let out a breath as I looked out the window. Beneath the bright rays of the sun zombies were being killed by the military.

Without much effort, I made the tanks and fighter jets explode. I don't care if they were doing their jobs and following orders, knowing but not doing anything to stop their superiors is the same as aiding them.

I continued climbing up the tower, I had gotten revenge for one of my friends. But what good was that revenge if I had no one left to tell.
