Chapter 9:

Perfect World Part 2

The Robot That Caught The Human Disease

“Come on.” Haruto gestured with his hand for her to come over. She looked around the place with hesitation. The place looked very morbid, with multiple Symbotics lined up in their station, asleep. Inside of the clock tower, was a factory glowing in a soft, black-white glow. The sound surrounding her hummed with the synchronized movements of countless cogs, wheels, with each piece interlocking into the next mechanical. She climbed the stairway, leading into an indefinite path, with Haruto, looking at each gear and the pipelines, powered by white streams of energy, glowing through the entire place like vines.

They reached the higher point, the clock tower. Haruto jumped up the concrete wall leading to the center of the clock, extending his hand out for her. She placed her foot on the wall and pushed herself forward, grabbing his hand as he pulled her up. They were looking from the back.

“Where are we?” she asked, full of curiosity.

“We are at the top of the tower.” Haruto gazed as the moon's shine reflected on the ground from the glass.

“It's beautiful!” Yui interlocked her hands together as the colourful stained glass had a certain shine to it, creating a chromatic illumination .

“That's not what I'm here for.” Haruto shook his head, smiling a little at how she gets excited over every little thing.

“Go over there.” He pointed out the small little door on the corner of the clock. She went ahead, opening the door a little, peeking through at what's on the other side. It was a cliff footpath but beyond was the sky and the moon shining through. She took small steps as the world view became wider for her. Down below, the whole city can be seen. The skyscraper and neon lights had her full of excitement. The world was just so beautiful.

“3, 2, 1” Haruto muttered as he pulled a lever.

The beauty of the dark night transformed. The sky shifted, bending vertically as the world split into day and night before it fully circled, the sky pink and purple hues took over. Yui's eyes widened, unable to believe her eyes. Haruto walked beside her, looking at the scenery as the sun was peeking from the bottom. The city’s neon lights were gone, muted, no longer taking any attention.

“You said you wanted to see the sun rise.” Haruto stared at the sky, where the big star, small from his view, waking up.

“Woooooooooaaaaaah!” Yui's eyes sparkled as she took in the whole new world.

Haruto's eyes half-lidded, his head lowered, his eyes flipped into multiple colours from the new change. He clutched his face, covering his eyes. He was not supposed to mess with the city system, it would affect them too.

“How did you do that! How did you-” Yui looked at Haruto and he quickly turned to her, taking his hands off, smiling, as if nothing was wrong.”-do that!” Yui jumped down like a child in wonder.

“It's my… secret.” Haruto winked, placing a finger on his lips.

Yui pouted as she grabbed his hands swaying it left and right, pleading his attention. Haruto blinked and, in that moment, touched his chest with his other hand. It was thumping a little.

“Well… my father owns the system of this city.” Haruto gently pulled her hands away from his, putting it next to her. “As you know, the Nakamura family, we fix the human heart… the original name for it was core, we replace cores for humans and robotic. So, we have a lot of influence.”

“You have a core?” Yui scrunched her nose but then quickly fixed her words. “I mean you have a heart like me?”

Even though she changed her words, it didn't change how strange they were. “Obviously.”

He raised a brow at her odd conclusion. "I heard Kaito say you were sheltered… I mean…. I do like it, but did you think you were the only one who lived here?”

Yui gave him an innocent look and he sighs. He brought a finger to his chin, thinking back. “Was it the year 3000? The prototype of having a heart, the core, was first introduced, humans believed that would cure them from any diseases. Of course, that caused a worldwide issue from the multiple variables, but Humans are selfish and self-centered. Nothing was enough for them. After many people were sacrificed, they asked artificial intelligence to fix it. Type C, Robotic has helped create another Type C, V.2. An intelligence that was never seen before, much more smarter and more advanced than any artificial intelligence. By year 4,489, every human has a vault now and no one has been sick ever since. There was a big incident that made us win but I'm sure you would be aware of all of it since your father is Takahashi."

No, she didn't know what happened next, but she assumed Type C, Robotic V.2 is her. "Of course, my father told me..."

Haruto nodded as she turned back to look at the sunrise with more clarity than before. Her mind may be filled with thoughts, but her view couldn't be ignored.

“Do you like what you see?” Haruto tilted his head to the side, clearly seeing the adoration in her.

“Yes!”

He hummed thoughtfully, looking confused

“Is this… even beautiful?” He muttered under his breath, staring at the early morning.  "Well, I still have more to show you.”

As the night turned to day, the people in Cyber woke up from their slumber. Those who extended their shoulders to get rid of the soreness, those who brushed their hair to get rid of the tangled, those who rushed to put their shoes on, those who had their dog barking at them for being late.

“Good morning, sir.” The neighbour greeted, as she watered her flowers.

“Good morning to you too.” The other neighbour said, as he ran out of the door, waving his hand. “It's a good day, isn't it?”

“It is.” The neighbour pulled the water, smiling.

Life resumed like normal. The children went to school, the adults went to work, the mothers stayed home, cleaning and taking care of their young children, and it was another relatively good day.

It was just another day.
