Chapter 14:
Happy Birthday
The clock turns back. From a young age, Myndi Mayer had a clear dream: she wanted to be an actress. Her eyes sparkled with the promise of grand stages and cinema screens, where she could become someone memorable, inspiring and touching people around the world. Growing up in a small town, Myndi spent hours in front of the mirror, practicing her lines and expressions. She carefully studied the actresses she admired, trying to capture the essence of their performances.
By the age of ten, Myndi already knew what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She performed in school plays and participated in all artistic activities possible. Her parents, though skeptical, supported their daughter's dream, taking her to theater auditions in neighboring cities. But despite her passion and dedication, Myndi faced a series of failures and rejections.
— You're great, dear, but you don't have the profile we're looking for for the role, — said the casting directors after one of her auditions. With a broken heart, Myndi promised herself that she would keep trying. She spent sleepless nights practicing her lines and honing her skills, determined to prove she had talent.
As Myndi grew, the reality of her choice became harsher. She was in high school when she got her first job at a small community theater. The role was small, but to Myndi, it was a chance to show her talent. She dedicated herself entirely to the role, hoping that this opportunity would be a stepping stone to something bigger. However, the production was a failure, and Myndi felt the weight of disappointment.
At eighteen, after a series of failed auditions, Myndi decided to move to the big city in search of more opportunities. She believed that if she was in the right place at the right time, her talent would be recognized. But the city proved to be unforgiving. Myndi faced more rejections, and her dreams began to seem increasingly distant.
To support herself, Myndi took a job as a barista at a marketing agency. It was a mundane job, far from the spotlight she so desired. Every day, she served coffee to the executives and employees of the agency, listening to their conversations about advertising campaigns and market strategies. Each cup of coffee served was a reminder of her unfulfilled dream.
— Why am I doing this? — Myndi wondered as she filled another cup of coffee. — I should be special, showing my art, not here.
She hated the job, but she needed the money to pay her bills and continue pursuing acting opportunities. At night, after a long day of work, Myndi still practiced her lines and looked for auditions. She applied for theater, film, and commercial auditions, but the responses were always the same: — No, thank you.
One day, exhausted and discouraged, Myndi decided she needed to change her approach. She began to think about how she could use her skills and passions in a different way. That's when she had an idea: what if she opened an agency to manage artists? She could help actresses, singers, and other talents find the opportunities she herself had failed to achieve.
Myndi began planning her agency with renewed determination. She studied the market, learned about career management, and started making contacts in the industry. Gradually, her agency began to take shape. Myndi felt a new sense of purpose, believing she could make a difference in the lives of other artists.
One day, while reviewing documents in her small office, she heard a knock on the door. When she opened it, she found a young woman with long hair and bright eyes.
— Good morning, I am Calliope Bluebell, — said the young woman, holding a record in her hands. — I heard about your agency and... well, I'm making a record and need someone to help me find a label and manage my career.
Myndi was captivated by the determination and passion in the young girl's eyes; she recognized that passionate expression. She saw herself reflected in the young artist, remembering her own dreams of youth. She decided to help Halo reach her potential.
— Come in, Calli. Let's talk about how we can work together, — said Myndi, with a smile.
As they talked, Myndi felt a sense of renewal. Helping the girl achieve her dreams was a way to honor her own childhood dreams. She knew the path wouldn't be easy, but she was ready to face the challenges alongside Halo.
— So, tell me more about your record, — asked Myndi, as she sat at the table with Halo.
— I wrote and produced all the songs, I've been working on it for about 2 years, — said Halo, excitedly. — They talk about my experiences, my dreams, and the struggles I've faced. It's a part of me that I want to share with the world.
Myndi listened attentively, absorbing every word. She felt she was on the right path, helping a talented young woman share her art with the world. At the end of the conversation, Myndi and Calliope agreed to work together, planning to find a record label and promote Calli's career.
In the following months, Myndi dedicated herself to promoting Calliope, who had taken the stage name Halo. She organized meetings with record executives, scheduled performances at important events, and used her network of contacts to ensure Halo's music reached as many people as possible. As she worked tirelessly, Myndi felt fulfilled. She was helping to shape the future of a promising artist, something she had always wanted for herself.
One day, Myndi received a call from a major record executive. He was interested in Halo's talent and wanted to schedule a meeting to discuss a contract.
— This is it, “Halo”! I got a meeting with Multiversal Records; they are very interested in signing us! — exclaimed Myndi, barely containing her excitement.
Calli smiled, her eyes shining with hope and gratitude. "Thank you, Miss Myndi. I couldn't have done it without you."
Myndi smiled, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. — I knew you had a special talent, Halo. Now it's time to show the world.
The meeting was a success. The label was impressed with Halo's talent and offered a contract to release her record. Myndi and Halo celebrated together, knowing that this was just the beginning of an exciting journey.
While accompanying Halo on her first tour, Myndi reflected on her own journey. From the dreamy girl who wanted to be an actress to the determined woman who opened an artist management agency, she had come a long way. The hardships and disappointments had shaped her vision but never extinguished her love for the arts.
Halo smiled — Thank you so much, Miss Myndi. I don't know what I would be without you; no one believed in me. I really don't know what I would be doing in my life if I couldn't achieve this dream.
— I know very well, it wouldn't be nice, trust me and please stop calling me so formally, it's annoying — said Myndi.
Hearing Halo's words, Myndi felt a wave of gratitude. She had found a greater purpose, something that filled her with joy and fulfillment. And as Halo's music echoed through the theater, Myndi knew she was exactly where she needed to be.
With Halo's success, Myndi's agency began to grow. Other artists sought her services, desiring the same kind of dedication and passion she had demonstrated. Myndi worked tirelessly to ensure each of her clients had the best opportunity to achieve their dreams.
And so, while helping to shape the artistic industry, Myndi found her own place in the world. She was no longer just the girl who served coffee at a marketing agency. She was a talented and respected agent, a woman who used her passion for the arts to make a difference in the lives of other artists.
In the end, Myndi Mayer had found her path. And as she watched her artists flourish and their names become known, she knew that, in some way, she was fulfilling her own dream. Because, after all, there is nothing more gratifying than seeing talent flourish and art transform the world.
