Chapter 6:

Honō’s Hunt - Zallo Village Arc

The Hunters Duality

After Honō waved at Witz he continued to dodge and weave through the attacks of the beasts until he finished sipping his coffee.

As Honō finished his coffee he threw the empty coffee cup towards a wolf and zapped the cup as it hit the beast in the head. As the string of electricity hit the cup it burst into ice freezing the cup and his prey’s head together, thus causing it to fall unconscious as air could no longer reach its lungs.

“Ah a good coffee is refreshing but it’s time I burn the energy with a little hunt” Honō stated calmly as he began to dash towards his remaining prey.

He started to speed up to the point that he disappeared for a second  before reappearing again above one of the beasts. Blade in hand, he dropped onto the top of the aether wolf’s back.

As he got his footing stable after landing he shoved his blade down into its spine causing it to drop to the ground yelping in pain until its body started to freeze from the inside out until its body turned into solid ice killing it instantly.

Honō began to stand up, leaving his blade in the body of the beast he walked off from atop the wolf’s now frozen corpse. As Honō walked off the corpse he formed two daggers made of the same condensed ice, coated in electricity, and threw them at the heads of two other beast's.

When the daggers made hit the wolf’s, it Stabbed them through their skulls, bursting their heads into lumps of blood dyed ice.

Honō made another blade of condensed ice this time in the shape of a katana as he charged three more his prey. As Honō charged the beasts, they attempted to attack him but instead of dodging like he did the previous attacks from the early beasts, he decided to parry each slash, bite and more from the wolfs.

After parrying every attack they threw at him he raised his katana of ice in both hands above his head before bringing it down onto one of the beasts, slashing the wolf in half. As each half of the beast fell they slowly began to freeze into lumps of frozen meat.

After he slashed the beast in half, he dashed behind another two of the beasts. When Honō got behind the two beasts he stabbed his katana of ice into the ground freezing the area beneath them. As the ground froze and reached the beasts it begun to freeze them to their footing making them unable to move.

As he stood up back up pulling his blade out of the ground, one of the beasts he had froze to the ground, broke free and attempted to attack him. Honō was able to dodge the attack and counter by coating his hand in ice and grabbing the beast by the throat.

As he held it by the throat he slowly sent thousands of volts of electric frost into its entire body freezing it in a near instant as the cold from its body began to frost the air itself.

Honō took a deep breath and exhaled now able to see his breath due to the cold coming from the beast’s frozen corpse, he smiled at this fact before clenching his fist shattering the beast’s now frozen body into a thousand pieces

“Oops looks like I couldn’t preserve the meat on this one” spoke Honō with a calm near eerie smile on his face as he exhaled another frosted breath.

As Honō stood there the remaining beasts began to coward around him in fear of their life’s.

Honō looked at the beasts as calm as ever before disappearing. The wolves looked around, they could not see him anywhere until one of the remaining wolves howled in pain as they burst into ice from the inside out. Honō stood where the beast had previously before he began to dash at his four remaining prey.

The remaining wolves began to try retreat to the woods from where they came from but before they could Honō appeared in front of them blocking their path to the forest.

Honō, katana in hand, slashed the air once more like he did at the start of his hunt in the direction of the remaining wolves before saying in a calm yet loud voice,

“Glacial Voltage”

As he finished speaking a wave of electric frost, even larger than the one he used at the start of his hunt was sent from the blade of the katana toward his prey. As it hit the beasts one by one, they started to combust in to ice, leaving only field of frozen corpses in his way back to the village.

Honō had just finished his half of the beasts, as he heard Witz shout “Take that Honō, I got my half first.”

“I think it’s more of a tie act-“ started Honō as he turned to Witz only to see her laying on the ground as a new beast, larger beast stood over her.
