Chapter 27:
Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World
Hiroshi and Tomokazu stepped up into the arena. Alexander was as loud and proud as ever as he continued to announce the two men who had made it to the Final. However, they weren’t waiting on his signal. Instead of waiting in their corners, they continued walking towards each other with a purpose. Both men had a strong stance and determination in their eyes.
“W-Wait you two! I never said go!” Alexander yelped, trying to enforce the rules on the two. He was completely powerless. They both took their eyes off each other for a moment and focused on Alexander. Even their presence was enough to make him grasp his throat. He couldn’t breathe. The men didn’t even say a word or use a move on him. He wasn’t worth it. They once again locked their eyes with each other.
“I can’t wait to wipe that stupid smile off your face,” Hiroshi smirked, coating his katana in the darkness once more. Tomokazu’s smile had never been so wide, almost psychotic.
“You can’t kill me. The Gods are immortal, and my father is the most powerful of them. You’re just a low-class citizen,” Tomokazu retorted, drawing his own blade, which resembled very closely to an Estoc sword.
“If you can bleed, you can die,” Hiroshi responded coldly, before picking up the pace once more, changing into a full-on sprint towards Tomokazu. “And I’m going to find that out right now!”
“Bring it on then, bastard!” Tomokazu yelled back, charging towards Hiroshi at full speed. Hiroshi, using the darkness, launched himself into the air, and slammed down his katana at Tomokazu’s head at full force. Their blades crossed, and the force of their blades connecting was so powerful that the aftershock blew back some of the audience in the front row. They gasped in a mixture of awe and fear.
Tomokazu jabbed his blade forward in a frantic manner, attempting to cut Hiroshi open quickly. He countered by swinging his katana in a figure-eight shape and deflecting all the blows that came his way. Hiroshi backflipped into the air, attempting to take the God’s child’s head clean off. Tomokazu deflected it with relative ease.
Tomokazu took to the air promptly and using his full force, flew straight into Hiroshi, taking him by the neck. Together, they flew towards the crowd so fast, it almost broke the sound barrier. The crowd yelled in terror, only for Tomokazu to fly upwards at the last second.
Technically, both players had left the arena, but Alexander was too frightened to announce a definite victor. This was no longer a fight for fun and games to secure a mentor for a better career.
This was a fight to the death.
Hiroshi used his right elbow and slammed it on top of Tomokazu’s head. He grunted, loosening his grip on Hiroshi’s neck. Hiroshi put his hand on Tomokazu’s chest, driving him directly back into the arena floor. The concrete exploded, shrapnel flying out left and right at rapid speed. The audience ducked for cover. The fight was beginning to get dangerous.
Hiroshi kept punching Tomokazu, as he couldn’t reach his sword in time to strike, yelling in rage. He wanted to kill him. The way he toyed with Bibi, that young woman, and threw her away like trash. His smile was so fake, and his ideals were corrupt. He was one of those people Hiroshi hated the most.
And yet, Tomokazu kept smiling. His face was completely fine. There was not a single drop of blood. It looked the exact same now as it did before the fight. Tomokazu reached and put his open palm on Hiroshi’s stomach.
With a sudden jolt, Hiroshi’s angry yelling turned into screams of pain. His body flew upwards quickly and smashed back down into the concrete beside Tomokazu. Hiroshi rolled away just as Tomokazu got back to his feet and slammed his foot down, attempting to smash Hiroshi’s skull against the pavement.
Hiroshi got his stance ready again. However, just as he had planted his feet, a huge gust of wind blew him to the other side of the arena. He managed to stop himself just at the edge with his katana, smashing the tip of his blade into the ground to slow him down. That was when Hiroshi realized how powerful Tomokazu was.
He had wind magic.
“I’m impressed. A mortal like you, making me resort to my magic! But you won’t be alive much longer! I’m about to get serious!” Tomokazu laughed at Hiroshi, hoping to make him lose the will to fight with his harsh words.
Instead, Hiroshi charged once more, launching himself with hatred at Tomokazu. He unleashed his wind magic again, pushing his palms towards his opponent, and he sent a small tornado at him. The man with the darkness demon inside of him flipped over the attack and attempted to slash Tomokazu’s face. The man jumped back just in time.
“Y-You’re fast!” he spat, keeping up with Hiroshi’s return of attacks. However, Hiroshi was still unconfident. He knew that Tomokazu was still levels above him. He needed to analyze his attacks closer.
“Well done, Oshi! Keep it up!” Wisteria cheered from the sideline with a big smile. She thought that Hiroshi could win, that he just needed to have a bit more encouragement. Tomokazu flicked Hiroshi away with his wrist, sending him flying across the arena. He turned slowly and menacingly to face Wisteria.
“Oh? Wanting that monster to beat me? What is with the treason in this country today?!” Tomokazu laughed to himself, raising his palms towards Wisteria with malicious intent. “Let you be an example to other people who betray the Gods!”
“You’re supposed to be symbols of hope and joy and peace! Why would you-?” Wisteria stuttered, drawing her ice blade.
“Now you decide to attack me?! A little traitor you are, you insolent bitch! Die!” he yelled out in anger, about to unleash his attack on her. Wisteria gripped her sword tightly. She was determined she could deflect the attack.
She would never find out.
“Oshi! Please save me!” The memory played again in Hiroshi’s mind.
A dark blur flew past Tomokazu, gripping his hand. Tomokazu gritted his teeth in pain, and his eyes followed from the opposing hand on his arm, to the shoulder, and finally, the face staring right at him, eyes black with rage.
“What the hell did you just call her?” Hiroshi grumbled in pure anger. “She could have deflected your weak ass attack, but I just can’t let your rudeness slide like that.”
“Oh? Did I strike a nerve?” Tomokazu chortled loudly. “Pathetic humans with their foolish emotions!”
