Lonely Flame

I am Ryu Kawasaki, and I am Japanese, known in Britannia as Eleven. I have no parents, and my brother died 6 months ago. Why am I fighting in this war between the Britannians and the Japanese? I still don't know the answer... But giving my life for my country is not an option. I know that many people will die, be it Japanese or Britannian. Seeing people die in wars no longer affects me, but if she is an important person to me, I will give my life to protect her. 

I was looking for places to rest, but they were only houses in ruins because of the war. I kept looking for shelters, some food or water. It was just me, I had no companions. Time passed. My legs hurt, I was hungry and thirsty. I could not bear it any longer, I fell to the ground, and little by little I was starting to faint. Before I fainted, a truck approached, and my eyes closed. When I woke up, a girl with red hair approached me, and offered me food and water. 

- "Here's your food, it will hold you over until we get there," she said, smiling. She was glad that I survived. - "Thank you," I said with a small smile, and she was relieved to see me with that small smile on my face. I'm not much of a smiler, but that small smile came from my heart. 

- "I'm Kallen Kozuki, what's your name?" she asked me with a confident smile. 

- "Ryu, that's my name." I answered a little happy. My previous companions didn't tell me their last names, so I got used to not saying my last name even if they were new companions. It was different from what I was used to, she introduced herself even though she didn't know me. It seemed like she was interested in knowing more about me. 

- "Do you want to join us?" Kallen proposed. Joining people I don't know. - "Okay. I'll join." I answered confidently. When I accepted the proposal, Kallen was happy, it was something that hadn't happened to me for 2 years. My emotions began to awaken. 

Days passed by, and I began to gain trust, especially from Kallen, who began to grow fond of me and become more interested in me. I was happy to have companions who became my friends. That ended when the Britannian knights arrived. They started chasing us with mechas. I was attacking and evading the whole time. 

- "Follow my orders, if you want to survive!" I heard from the mecha's radio. I didn't know who it was, I was confused. - "If we follow your orders, are we sure we'll survive?" I asked seriously. I didn't know what that person wanted to plan. - "You will survive, so follow my orders." that person said very confidently. Since he said that, we started to fight back.
