Chapter 1:

Through the Violet Sky [LEON]

Echoes of Dream

A busy city with towering buildings, people moving at their own pace, vehicles moving here and there, and neon lights filling the entire city.

Amidst the crowd is a black-haired man in a professional salaryman’s attire. He is Leon.

He is talking to himself. “Finally, time to return home. It’s already this late yet it’s so bright even at this time with all the lights and lighted-up buildings. Too tired because of the long day, I just want to sleep.”

Suddenly, A comet passes by in the sky creating a silver streak of line.

The people began to take out their phones and click photos and videos of it,

Leon was too tired and lazy and uninterested to take out his phone but a thought came to his mind.

Even though there is a vast sky and unexplored world out there, what are we doing? Click photos and always look up, what am I doing?

Working the whole day just to be tired at night but what can I even do, this is my life, I guess.

After a long walk, He reached the home, He was too tired to do anything, so he ate a cup of ramen as his dinner and just laid down to sleep, it was not long before his eyes shut down completely immersing him into sleep.

But it was unlike any other night,

As he opens his eyes, He is in an unfamiliar world.

It felt surreal, He was surrounded by towering golden trees, and up above was a violet sky.

Leon, “What even is this place? This is probably a dream but what kind of dream is it, is it my sweet little heaven after a long day's work? Or is this the side effects of the novels and video games? I don’t know what it is but it feels refreshing, it is like I have a lot more energy than the real world. As was in awe because of how unreal my surroundings were.”

As he was looking around, he looked in a certain direction where he saw a figure, a figure of a girl that was staring at him. He moved forward towards her.

Long silver-haired young adult, in medieval noble attire. Her expression however was little concerning. She was sad. Not really sad but like tearing up after being happy, bittersweet, or something, He didn’t know how to express that feeling.

Then she whispered. “Leon…”

Leon heard “Isn’t that my name?”

Leon wasn’t sure if he heard it right, he wanted to ask her right away.

“Hey, how do you know my name?”

But she didn’t say anything for a while other than staring at him like she found something that she lost a long time ago, even Leon’s own heart felt something after looking at her for a while.

Leon didn’t know why, but it doesn’t feel anonymous. This cannot be possible because he had never seen someone like her, rather he didn’t even recognize this entire world then how can he recognize a single person?

The girl broke the silence, “Are you lost?” she said.

“Maybe? I don’t even know how I ended up here.”

“Then let me help you”

Leon didn’t know why but it was hard to deny.

“I-I’m not sure. I don’t even know you and how can I follow a stranger?”

She chuckled, “Do not be so alarmed, I am a well-certified person around here. I’m Noel”

Leon was done thinking rationally, He decided to just go with the flow now.

He thought, “What a silly coincidence is this? Noel, huh? It’s just my name but backwards but I guess I don’t have any other choice in these unfamiliar surroundings. At least, I could learn one or more things about this world from her.”

“I am Leon, I guess I would appreciate your help”

Noel suggested with a smile, “Then let’s go towards the town first”

Both of them headed towards the town. Leon didn’t know how He ended up here but anyway, he learned a thing or two from her.

This was just like any other world some fantasy stories, novels, comics, or video games. It had everything from magic to monsters to adventurers and existing monarchy.

This town was managed by a Marquis, serving this nation.

It had a medieval setting as well just like any other fantasy story.

“So, where are you even planning to take me?” Leon questions.

Noel, “Aren’t you hungry? Let’s head to the tavern first.”

It’s true that Ha was feeling a bit hungry as he only had a cup of ramen so he didn’t object and let her lead the way but it still felt surreal to think about hunger in a dream.

They entered a tavern. It was a busy place.

The bar owner surprised by Noel’s arrival, stuttered “My lady…”

Noel didn’t let him finish by showing a hand sign to stop.

But Leon was so immersed in the atmosphere that he didn’t notice that.

She leads him too upstairs. She ordered without asking Leon’s opinion, He found it very weird.

After a few minutes, the dishes arrived.

Leon was having mushroom stir fry like something and Leon was served with a steak-like dish. “It’s similar to lamb so please eat,” she said.

Leon really hated mushrooms since my childhood, so he was happy that he was served meat instead of that but how did she know?

They had a casual talk about Leon’s world along with Noel’s world. Leon was surprised by how she was not too surprised about his world, being a person from a medieval era, she should’ve been shocked about the things.

He didn’t know why she was not as interested as he hoped. He didn’t even know why he didn’t feel like he was talking to a stranger.

Leon didn’t hide about his origin and world unlike most of the protagonists of fantasy stories. He believed that this was just a mere dream and didn’t mind spilling out everything.

The day passed amidst the conversation and Leon was led to a grand mansion.

He suspected that Noel was some sort of nobility.

He thought, “Am I just too degenerate to just follow a girl around like this? But it feels natural in some way.”

Noel led Leon to her mansion. It was grand, as expected of a nobility. She introduces Leon to her father and two brothers. Leon tried acting dignified but the Marquis was just a chill old man and the youngest brother was cute. Though the other one didn’t even recognize his presence, “Haha, typical nobility behavior” He guessed. Noel didn’t have a mother as she passed away not too long ago.

They have a dinner together. Noel assigns a room for him to rest. Even after following her for an entire day, He was not as tired as he would be after a long day of work. Even the bed was grand.

Then, out of a sudden.

He felt a stare. He didn’t know why he felt that but he glanced at the window.

And yes, there really was something.

He saw an eye. Gleaming Red Ruby Eyes by the window staring at him. There was someone there. The figure itself was not clearly visible but the eyes were.

He was frightened. As he tried to close up the distance…

In a jolt, Darkness.

Then suddenly Leon wakes up to his reality.
