Chapter 74:

This is the Enterance of (Actor) Akimoto Kaoru

I Know You Can't Write!

“Now, let me give you a short recap as to the reason this important meeting was summoned.” Wow, “summoned,” that’s a big word for you Kaoru… “The reason we are here is simple, I have adjourned the second meeting of Kaoru’s Love School… Is that what I called it last time? No matter. We are here to once again assist Yoshika Nao in achieving her high school romance. I have assembled Japan’s greatest minds!”

Her exclamation was met by some light clapping from her council—Akimoto Kaoru’s Cult of Personality.

The cult leader bent forwards to make herself eye-level with Yoshika—unfortunately for my sanity, it just so happened that the Earth was perfectly aligned for a full Lunar eclipse. I desperately looked anywhere else in the room, finally landing on a Re:One poster I had hung on my wall.

It’s honestly where I’d rather look, it’s an incredible show you can’t blame me. It’s even more incredible how much this one poster encapsulates the essence of Re:One… It’s—it’s true idea of currently being trapped in hell.

“Now, Yoshi-chan, today’s lesson is about what being a man is. Thinking and envisioning the world around you as a man would.” Wow, Kaoru, you sound like you’re selling a scam course to desperate middle-aged women. “Do you have any inclining as to how that would be, Yoshi-chan?”

“N-no… Kaoru-sensei.” The manner in which she responded told me she held a bit of interest in getting some advice, but even I could tell, her quick stutter and lackadaisical head shake told me she was annoyed with Kaoru too.

“This. This is where the issue lies. Seeing the world as a man would allow you to practically read their minds!”

“Kaoru-sensei, how can you teach about this skill if you don’t have it yourself…?”

“W-w-wha??? What’re you talking about? Of course I have it!”

“Then how’d you not notice Katsuki was—”

“Hahahaha! Okay-okay! Enough about me, this is about you…” Everyone in her “classroom” eyed her suspiciously. Good, she is a person not to be trusted. “Well you see this class is about Y-Yoshi-chan, s-so it only makes sense to keep discussion about her… hehe… A-anyway! For this lesson you’ll be acting as a highschool boy and I’ll be your lovely crush. The setting… cultural festival. Your goal is to ask me to walk around with you.”

“O-okay? How will this help me with Takechi-senpai.”

“Hmhmhm… That question is exactly why I’m the teacher and you’re the student. Now! Begin!”

Yoshika shifted her weight from her left to right foot and glanced over her audience. “Uhm… K-Kaoru-sens—senpai.”

“Oh! Good morning Yoshika-kun! I’m so glad you could make it to our cosplay-cafe! We put a lot of work into it!” Kaoru played with her bunny-ears while sporting a surprisingly wholesome smile.

“R-right… Kaoru-senpai, I was wondering if you would explore the uh, festival with me. When do you get off?”

“Cut! Cut-cut-cut-cut! That’s all wrong! Where’s your heart! The vision of the character! Right then, you were still Yoshi-chan! Where’s Takechi-kun!?”

“Kaoru-sensei… I think—”

“No!” The director(?) cut Yoshika’s complaints short. “There is no think! Only do! Now! Action!”

The walls and floors of my room shifted into the white walls and tiles of a school in the midst of it’s cultural festival. Streamers and a balloon archway lined the main door. The desks in class 2A were moved into clusters and covered with white tablecloths giving a charming amateurish feel to the whole operation.

It was the first year of the prime of our youth. The Cherry-Blossom trees lost the last of their pedals, yet constant rain still persisted. It just so happened that on day of our school’s festival the storms subsided—however only momentarily, as they were scheduled to continue later that day.

But for now, the skies were clear, with pure intentions and dreams. Yoshik— Takechi, a first year student, slid open the door of classroom 2A. Two students, a boy and a girl, were cosplaying students from the seventies, while another girl was a Geisha, and one more… was a bunny girl.

“Oh! Takechi-kun, I’m so glad you could make it to our cosplay-cafe.”

“I—I wouldn’t miss it.” Takechi’s delivery seemed ingenuine… as his intentions weren’t just to visit.

“Let me seat you and grab ya’ something to drink!” Kaoru—is that the name she was using for this scene? Kaoru headed with a menu towards an open table.

“A-actually, I came here for something else… The cafe looks really fun but…”

“But what…?” She had a hint of dissapointment in her voice.

“I w-was wondering when you get off?”

“Oh… In about an hour and a half… Why?”

Takechi clutched his right fist. His intentions may have not been honest from the start, but they were pure. Ever since he began his first semester of highschool, Kaoru-senpai was the one who caught his eye at the entrance ceremony. “W-w-would you possibly want to explore the festival together then?”

Whether it was her blonde hair, well endowed body, or genuine unadulterated stupidity, he couldn’t block her from his thoughts.

“No thank you. Not with you.”

“Cut! Cut! Cut-cut-cut!” The classroom slipped away—some light applause came from the peanut-gallery.

“What!? What was that for!!?” Yoshika cried. “Is my senpai ******* stupid!? All that just for him to say no!?”

A second eclipse occurred as Kaoru leaned forward to put a hand on her junior’s shoulder. “Exactly for him to say no. This is where the issue lies! Your expectations!”

My expectations…? What’s that supposed’ta mean…?” The disappointed black-haired girl muttered.

“It was perfect, no? The setting, the timing, the opportunity! All of it leading up to! A disappointment. Your expectations.”

“I expected to be disappointed?”

“No-no-no, you expected it to be perfect, but you got disappointment. Now, why’d I show you that?” Yoshika glanced at her “classmates” then back at Kaoru—she responded with a shrug. “Anyone? Makoto? Anyone know why it ended that way?” The Geisha seated next to my sister rose her hand—I forgot about you… I’m gonna deal with you soon… probably call the police… “Yes! You! Geisha-san!”
