Chapter 103:

Epilogue II The devil Furfur

Devil hunting chronicles of the impossible city.

The sun was burning hot on this day, as the people of the center city were fleeing desperate. The guard had called the alarm for all to retreat into the tower but plenty of people still had no belief in the hunters and refused wishing that as long as they behaved the people from the city would not harm them be it as it may when the sound of trucks arrived at the entrance of the outskirt town, there was nary a soul on its busy streets.

They began marching easily forty members of the Argia police department came out from the tall trucks and marched they formed multiple squadrons and put their riot shields onward showing the insignia of the eye, to the people of the city it looked like a monster with hundreds of eyes. Their shield opened the way for a tall man in a white trenchcoat, the man had the horns of a star upon his head and walked with hooves rather than feet, they all saw he was a demon walking into town without any worries. Behind him a card drove slowly and the remaining people in town remained still in fear or tried to run away, but the armed policemen immediately stopped them by aiming with their guns.

"There is no telling who is allied with the terrorist, no one moves, if anyone tries to move we will open fire or subjugate them, if you are good people simply stay still." Vice Chief Miles spoke with a speaker as the police threw the people near their march to their knees to handcuff them, Most people saw this and hid away leaving the streets open as the police march reached the entrance to a bizarre tower that now looked over the entire outskirts.

"Hold on a moment there Sir I would wish we could still fix this peacefully if you dont mind." At the stairs of the entrance, the citizen guard stood, still wearing the same old uniforms they used to but now they were all armed with rifles and handguns, hardly a makeshift guard no longer. The man who spoke to the police was an old man with a scarred face, the second in command of the guard O Brian, It was the second time he had seen that man with the devil stag horn, but he did hesitate to look at him straight in the eyes.

"Well, look at that I remember you alright...I burned that face of yours years ago. No sign of Mr.Rush, come on we know he isn't a death bastard who tried his luck back in the city, dont pretend you guys know nothing about it." The car behind Vice Chief Miles opened and Deputy Evan Chief Director Rodgers stepped down into the street behind him.

"True...back then you people were roughing us up you said it was just an investigation, but the neighbors saw the friends and family beat to a pulp, so, of course, the captain the impatient man he is couldn't just stand still."

"My, my I remember that we were looking for someone on the run, truth be told we could have been more cautious but you can blame our men for being nervous in an unlawful town like this one, none the less to think Mr.Rush was crazy enough to try to force us out really, you claim to be not unlike us and yet such barbaric behavior from the get-go." The chief spoke towards O'Brian...he remembered her too, even now he still had no idea how that small old woman forced Rush Collins into submission even if he had no devil back then.

"We reached an agreement back then right, If the guard cooperated and kept the peace you would not be interrupting here again, The boss even accepted a deal with that devil that was meant to kill him and we have done so, this city has never been more peaceful."

"I can see that... the snakes, the wolves even the worms are all dead and buried now, and no one in the wasteland will try their luck against this massive tower, but that is not something you did yourself the guard could have never survived Vepar, you lot made a deal with something darker."

"True, all of us in the guard made a deal with a devil of ours, because we wanted peace, because we wanted Commander Collins to live, but more than anything because we no longer wanted to aver our eyes from our true enemy...so then you knew of Vepar, you knew of that worm devil."

"I said that enough from you old man, One more word, and I'll finish the job and burn off your whole face."Miles interrupted but the commander walked forward and took off his speaker.

"I dont see the point in hiding anything now...we wanted you to keep things as they were, The destruction of the snakes left the upper management with no choice but to cut off the Worms so we figured it was about time to clean up the guard and take over ourselves and we figure Vepar would make it so...Mr.Collins we never expected him to live this long either, I have to accept it I underestimated you, gentleman of the citizen guard, everyone salutes, there is no denying these men did their duty." Miles looked annoyed but he followed her words and saluted as did the rest of the police corps.

"I do respect you and Mr.Collins else I would have never given him a devil, but that is the past now I will tell you now, if you stand down your weapons we will forgive you for your involvement with the hunters Mr.Collins too, but if you dont we will consider you an enemy our city and will share the same fate as the hunters," O'Brien mumbled as he looked at the men around them, They all looked afraid but they nodded back.

"No, this time we will not fold...you send that worm to kill us all, just to make things easier for the city folk, maybe the hunters are devils too, maybe we'll pay a great price for our alliance with them, but I dont believe Mr.Collins will ever forgive you now and neither will we, the only thing we have to tell you is that the people Argia has no say in Center city ever again, return to your city that you love so much or we will force you too."The chief of police returned the speaker to Miles.

"If they resist arrest you are allowed to open fire, consider the guard no different than the terrorist."

"¡Men we will now take this tower!" Vice Chief Miles jumped up the flight of stairs with his baton now sizzling hot, he easily was above the guard and prepared to hit down at O'Brian but from behind the wall of guards, a man stepped forward and deflected the attack with a pair of swords.

Cao took his inhuman for straight up barely keeping his balance but he gave the guard just enough time to walk back and open fire upon the stag devil. He retreated covering his face with his arms and Cao rushed to kick him off the stair, but he was immediately shot in the shoulder as the policemen below opened fire and he had to retreat, both sides opened fire with the guards having the high land but the bulletproof shield of the police keep them safe from the fire.

"That man...it seems there was at least one more demon in their ranks, get up we will rush them again I need to make it inside."

"Bastards, that it has been a while since someone was stupid enough to resist arrest in front of me!" Miles hit the ground with his baton and rushed the stairs again, the policeman seated in two fronts at each side of the stairs and opened fire as they walked, amidst the gunfire Chief Rodgers remained standing behind a third battalion along with Eva.

Miles reached the top again taking the bullet fire straight on but without a shred of hesitation he swung his baton throwing a lot of the guardsmen off their feet, Cao heard the screaming as anyone who touched his weapon was intensely burned, he could not hesitate as any second would be another human life lost. Miles stroked against him again, the weight of his baton was intense, and just by hitting his blades, Cao's swords were turning red from the heat. He dodged to the side and aimed with both swords to his free hand, cutting them in a piece strike to the bone, but Miles only roared as he reached for Cao with his free arm on a punch, Cao felt a wave of hear reaching face as his skin scorched bu the demons claw, he retired again.

"How is that..." Miles laughed but Cao quickly went low to pierce his stomach with his sword, Miles stared at his face and saw flames, a burning fire bird seemed to be enveloping half of Cao's face.

"Afraid that heat is nothing to me." Cao removed his blade making Mils bleed and dodged another strike from his baton, Obrian was just behind him and aimed his rifle straight at the demon's face, the shot hit him on the side of the head making him scream again. Cao prepared both of his swords to charge but suddenly stopped in his tracks and retreated.

"Heh, you got good instincts kid." At his side the chief of police was pointing at him with a long metallic staff, It was a bizarre contraption but Cao felt it was too risky to try his luck, he had no information on that woman's skill.

"Mr.Miles I will go ahead, my objective is just their leader, try to catch up once you get rid of this trash." Miles roared as the battalion of policemen finally reached the top of the stairs, The guardsmen had been pushed to the sides as a center battalion of the police charged forwards, Cao was about to move to try to intercept but he was hit in the chest by a blunt object, Miles pierced with his baton on his chest even if it was blunt object the sheer hear of it was unbearable painful, he then kicked Cao with his hoove throwing him against the wall

The chief infiltrated the tower moving a great part of the police squad with her while the rest positioned themselves with the shields on the tower entrance. Miles ignored the gunfire and raised his baton aiming to crash it down over Cao's head, but he was quickly shot point blank by a shotgun. A woman with a guard uniform rushed him with a cold expression in her eyes.

"You are the enemy of the captain, so die, die, die!" She opened fire again as he swung his claw against her hitting her at her face. As she fell the devil forgot about Cao and raised to grab her with his hand. He received another shot from a rifle hitting his hand and blowing most of his skin off. O'Brian reached for his companion Emilia, who joined the hunters with him and helped her get off but he struck with his baton...The old man stared at the tall man with a cold expression as he threw off the way and was hit by the baton on his shoulder his, uniform scorching in contact.

"Enough, you trash are no guardsman, you are nothing but savages of the outskirts, you and your Mr. Collins'll kill every single one of you!" O'Brian tried to move away but he could not get up in time as Miles's hand grabbed him by the throat.

"I had to bear hunger for so much, I will feast enough for a lifetime today!" He raised O'Brian above him as he stared at the vice-captain of the citizen guard, flames spread through his body as they heard made his clothing burst in a blaze.

"Captain O'Brian!" Emilia screamed and a group of guardsmen rushed towards the devil in anger. Miles threw O'Brien's corpse and rushed towards them, They shot him all over his chest but he did not stop till he grabbed two more of the guardsmen.

"A pyre, that is all you criminal deverse, a pyre!" He threw his baton at one of the guardmen and grabbed two of them with his huge claws, which combusted at his touch, flames spreading through their bodies.

"Ahhh...finally, I have wished for sacrifices for so long!" Behind he Cao reached with both of his blades and cut his back slashing him till he dropped both men, both nothing but scorched corpses. Miles slowly recoiled but as he did his clothes began to rip, the tall man was growing taller and taller as his figure became more and more bestial.

"Always stuck playing pretend...at last I dont have to hold back anymore!" He turned to stare at Cao his face had changed completely from that of a man and into a demonic stag, his body mass and musculature grew till his long coat was but a ripped cape over his body, and his horns grew taller and burst into flames.

"Im Furfur, I have wanted sacrifices for so long...and today I will have them, I'm free to be myself now." His voice was now rough and inhuman, the devil of a man towering over Cao who merely prepared his blades, he looked around and saw that both guardsmen and police were already lying dead.

"You all retreat I will hold him back, all of your run to the labyrinth and survive." They understood and quickly rushed towards the last policemen at the entrance with Emily breaking the guard of one of them and hitting them with her rifle in her head, she stared back at Cao who was no between the devil and the rest of them.

"Do it in my place goddamn it." She ran back into the labyrinth.

"So a policeman that feeds by murdering, I suppose such contradictions are to expected of a city of devils, but roar all you want and curse your faith, as im the man that will hunt you, and im not afraid of any flames."As he said that a pair of fire wings raised from behind Cao involving his body, he was not sure if he could heal faster than he was burned, but he will bet all on that possibility.
