Chapter 108:
Devil hunting chronicles of the impossible city.
" It is a splendid night indeed." A man walked on the city streets wearing an elegant black raincoat and hat, the man was stall and elegant with blond hair falling down behind him, the people around him seemed to be screaming as they ran in a hurry, he casually sang a tune as he walked stepping to the side as a group armed man in black uniforms were rushing forward with weapons in hand."
"I dont know why you're so damn relaxed that pet of yours is being a pain to subjugated brother." A woman walked behind him with an escort of four armed men with helmets that covered their faces, she was even taller than he was and had a literary attire with no shortage of melds to her name. She was Brunhild Engel, director of the anti-devil corps and the man who casually looked back with a mocking smile was the heir of the Engel family a man renowned in the city for his looks and indulgences."
"I expected nothing else, not only did she survive the hunters but Eva flew all the way here, even crossing the barrier between dimensions, and looked at her still having the strength to fight off the corps, I have to say Project Chutul is surpassing even my expectations." He turned to look at her with his arms open with pride he was skipping with joy.
"Easy for you to say when I need to take down your little pet so what now."
"I was thinking we could invite Miss Eva to become a part of the corp since it seems no one from the police department is coming back, is better to just buy the matter for now, alas is sad it will not be Miss Rodgers who will join us, but that girl Eva, with the right polish she could be a gem."
"So I take it we need her alive, I dont see the point of bringing a mad monster with us but if you think she can recover her mind, fine I can see the use for it, a devil that evolves as needed I can't lie that the corps has a use for that." Brunhild cracked her knuckles and walked forward.
"Well if we need her alive is better I do this myself, men Step aside I will arrest this beast myself." She walked in the middle of an abandoned where Eva stood in the center with her long bat-like wings flapping, she had just thrown a car over with her tentacles as she stood still noticing another person coming close to her.
"I...need to go back home...im tired, so tired."
"Sorry little miss, there is no going back home for you not ever again." Eva ran forward with the tentacles on her head reaching toward the blond woman, she simply snapped her fingers. As she did the head of a beast bit down swallowing Eva completely in its mouth, it was the massive head of a fish creature whose scales reflected countless colors like a rainbow, the head had simply appeared out of nowhere and slowly crawled back inside a strange distortion in the air, disappearing completely.
"Really to think you created something that could pass the barriers within dimensions...I don't like it only my Leviathan should be able to...now with that pet of yours in a cage, I need to ask you, tell me again why the hell shouldn't I go and destroy that entire tower and this hunter with my corps, with the chief of police death we can't hide this matter anymore, may as well clean the slate." She walked over to the long-haired man who simply smiled.
"Simple, with the police disbanded and Ocassio Kafe closed only Louise can keep the families at bay I think if these hunters are serious with their beliefs the families will be their next targets, I say to let them they will die trying and they may just weaken them enough for us to take the spoils at the end, let them demons see who is worthy of our time." She sighed.
"I suppose you do have a point we are busy enough, still we better prepare to make a speech, we can't keep their existence a secret any longer."
"I'll leave that to you, Im going back to our labs, im quite excited everything is going wonderful."The two of them walked under the starry skies of the city, as the armed guards in black riot armor stood motionless in salute, they all wore reinforced helmets with horns sculpted on them and pentagrams painted in white upon their riot shields.
They were the anti-devil corps, the only force that all females feare,d and with the rough sound of their boots, they walked through the streets the people moving away fearing them more than any devil.

The feel at the labyrinth after the end of the raid was a strange one, there weren't too many casualties amid the hunters but there were plenty of wounded including the captains themselves so the air was dense in worry. Things weren't better in the town either a lot of the members of the guards died during the affair and thought they had chosen to face the raid head on, the guild was not over the head of the hunters so the relationship with the town was a shaken one, and more than anything no one knew what was to come.
Even so, it was a victory for the hunters, so they all were given a week off and a massive bonus to their salary in accordance with the commander, and inevitably that led to one thing and thing only, party and drinking.
The captain made a toast again, it was the first time in a few days since almost all of them were together, the only one missing was Collins he had been extremely busy even while wounded doing what he could in the center city and going to the funeral of his men, meanwhile the other hunters mostly focused on resting their bodies, even devils needed time to heal up and it showed, Cao still had most of his face and hands bandaged from the burns and Aurora has been using a cane due to her broken leg, they both healed inhumanly well but even so it will be a few more days before they were ready to do anything more, Abram was fairly alright other than bleeding out, none of his wounds were that hard to heal by themselves, but even so he was in no rush to be active again, at the moment everyone was on a feast with all kinds of expressions marked on their face.
"All things considered we did better than expected Our losses were small, keeping most of our hunters away from their devils was the right call."Cao as usual kept his mind on their business even if Abraham would rather he didn't.
"I dont know, I feel like we barely made it as is, if Aya hadn't been there neither would I right now,"Aurora told him as she took on another bottle of beer, I think everyone could tell that fight was still heavy on her mind.
"Still That police chief her body didn't burn after dying and there is no sight of the other police woman who turned into a devil...could it be that the old lady was right Is it possible to make artificial demons?"Abram asked them both, he still remembered what that woman told him and felt quite anxious about it.
"If they can that is not something they could do when I was still a member of the devil corps, but I admit making devils with no contract is something anyone in the city would give everything to have, that would complicate things for us a lot... haha not that I expected less for the city of demons." Aurora took her drink as she laughed.
"I've nothing from our contacts on the city...it seems they will not be sending the corps after all...im unsure of their reason but the commander just said that was to be expected, I suppose I will take any respite I can get, we will have to move with care now that the upper district knows about so clearly." Cao put his fingers against his forehead as he remained anxious, he had thinking endlessly about every detail for days now.
"I...They probably know we can't threaten them directly, maybe they rather just watch and see now...well that's on them, if they give us a chance to grow stronger we will take it." Abram felt just as lacking. "If that woman had attacked us outside under sunlight, I dont think we could have stopped her...I guess that was just her arrogance at the end.
"Whatever it may be for the time being we will keep a low profile, the commander wants us to work on recruitment as well as to expand your influence on the city proper...we will need people in the city, I think it's about time to tell the hunters a lot of them are finally moving there." Cao moved his empty glass aside not caring for a single drop any longer.
"Still all the same, amazing work had any of us not come through we would all have died that is true but it speaks volumes of our teamwork, Im, glad to trust my back to any of you."
"Well, well friendly words from the great strategist now that a new one, haha but yeah, even I would have died without, my team, honestly if the police chief made a crucial mistake is to let her own men on the slaughter, but most demons are like that, they forgot human lives are not meaningless."
"Even so us demons we need to grow stronger as well, if we fall so do our men that has not changed."Cao was not the sort to apologize often for his decisions, but he did towards Collins but a few days ago, of course, Collins knew that his men wished to be there first, Collins only regretted that he could not join them.
"I think...at the very least the city will know they can't put the people of Center in danger anymore, their stupid slave trade is all but death as long as we are here... that's really what I hoped for, if we need to keep forcing them out of their hideouts I will gladly do it...till the devil responsible for this hell is banish," Abram spoke with clear anger in his tone, but the other two understood him.
"I guess this is for getting back our future." Aurora raised her drink.
"For fixing all wrong... I can test for that." Cao followed as well.
"Then for me is simple...to finish every devil that made that city hell." They toasted that even if their words were hardly one of the same, they all still trusted to see their fight going forward.

"Well then good to see you all standing here mostly in one piece." Commander Emilia waited for them till all four captains were reunited a week had already passed since the raid on their base and it was about time to prepare the stage for what was soon to come.
"Welcome you all is about time we set out what our next moves will be, the matter of the artificial devils is concerning but for now we need to focus on what we can face ahead on that is why our next movement, will be to move on the families territory, there is no going back for any of us but is likely that the Engel family will consider us a tool rather than an enemy if we hurt any of the families, so that will be our move, let's show them that we are no longer afraid of the city, you may step in my dear."
A woman entered the the throne room where their operation meetings were set, She was a short woman with black wavy hair and brown skin wearing the black suit of a hunter with a red tie, only Rush Collins reacted as she walked in.
"This is a new member of our hunters, Miss Rosario, the heir to the Rosario Cartel and she will be integral to our next operations, gentleman ladies we will be making Villa Blanca our next hunting ground till the devil of the cartel has ended, that is now our hunt."Emilia smiled as they all remained in silence as such a declaration.
They all knew one thing for sure their pray has never been bigger and it will take more than they have.
But that was their future as hunters who would challenge the city of devils.
