Chapter 2:
How My Guardian Angel Became My Boyfriend?
“ How do you know my name? Are you a charlatan? “
Sakura stepped back instinctively. Kaido was saddened by the way his human addressed him. For some reason, Sakura couldn’t stand the sadness that was now apparent in his eyes and asked, “ Why are you making that face? Don’t make me appear like the bad guy here. I’m the one confused here, understand? “
Flying straight to her, Kaito landed swiftly to be at her level. Being so close, Sakura was mesmerized by his beauty even more, stepping back from him.
Not understanding why she was stepping away, Kaito misunderstood the situation. “ Why are you stepping away from me, Sakura? Do you hate me that much? “
—
“ To think that I thought you finally acknowledged my existence and to discover I was wrong. “ He mumbled, sadly. “ You must have placed your request in error too, I presume, just like my existence. “
Picking on the word, “ request”, Sakura associated it with the word, “ wish” and something struck her. Recalling the box, she asked the saddened guardian angel before her, “ You knew my name and claimed you were here to grant my wish. I don’t believe in things like fairy tales, but in any case, would you happen to be my guardian angel? “
Beaming, Kaito approached her swiftly and said, “ Yes, I am. My name is Kaito and I’m your guardian angel. Your wish is what made me appear before you today. “
Due to the proximity, Sakura internally thought, “ He’s too close again. Does he have no sense of boundaries? “
“ I’m here to grant your wish, so—----------- “
Before he could conclude his statement to Sakura, the latter busted out laughing. Confused as to what might have made her laugh so hard, Sakura broke the silence after a minute and said, “ Did you truly believe that? I was merely joking with you and you took me seriously! “
—
“ We’re not in a fairy tale, so drop the act, will you? “ Laughing even more, she continued, “ I almost believed you, but I must admit your costume is very realistic. Seeing you up close, you do look like an angel from head to toe. Tell me who your designer is and I might contact them for costumes in the future! “
Kaito was saddened even more not because his existence was arbitrarily denied, but because he looked like a clown to her. Simply watching her laugh her heart out, Sakura didn’t notice when the librarian was suddenly back at her desk.
“ Young lady, what happened? Did something pleasant happen? “
It was only when she heard the librarian’s voice that she realized where she currently was and stopped laughing altogether.
Facing the librarian lady, Sakura uttered, “ I was laughing at this comedian claiming to be an angel. “
?
“ A comedian? An angel? What are you talking about, young lady? “
?
“ What do you mean? “ Sakura was rather confused by the librarian’s question. “ In front of me, there’s a comedian dressed as an angel. Can’t you see him? “ She pointed her finger at where he was currently standing, but the librarian lady could only see her.
Gasping, the librarian lady exclaimed, “ Young lady, there’s no one standing at the spot you’re pointing to. We’re the only two people here. “
“ What? But that’s—------------ “
Sakura looked at the spot where Kaito was standing and to her dismay, he was vanishing before her eyes while looking extremely sad. For some reason, Sakura’s heart throbbed in pain, as if she would die any second. Losing her balance, Sakura was collapsing when unexpectedly, she was caught in the nick of time by someone.
Faintly, she looked up and saw her guardian angel worrying over her. “ Sakura, are you alright? “
As Sakura was about to shut her eyes, all she could see was the librarian lady rushing to her side and a rather worried guardian angel.
The next moment she opened her eyes, she was at the school infirmary. “ You finally came to. “ The school nurse gasped in delight. “ How are you feeling? Do you feel any discomfort anywhere? “
Instead of answering the school nurse’s questions, Sakura looked around. Feeling the presence of her guardian angel inside the infirmary, she couldn’t spot him anywhere.
“ Fambrose-San, how are you feeling now? “ The nurse lady got her attention at long last.
Answering the nurse, she said, “ I feel fine with no discomfort whatsoever. “
Relieved by the response, the school nurse said, “ That’s good, but just in case, rest in here for a bit. Your professors are already aware that you’re in the nurse’s office, so you should rest plenty. “
Nodding, Sakura agreed with the nurse lady. As soon as she exited the room, Sakura looked around once more, but still couldn't spot her guardian angel anywhere.
Recalling what her name was, she mumbled, “ Kaito, come out! I know you’re here as I can feel your presence. “
—
As she called out to him, Kaito appeared through bubble sounds before Sakura. As soon as she saw him before her, she couldn’t help but ask, “ Why were you hiding from me? “
The response she received to that question stunned her like a million swords. “ That’s because I’m a nuisance to you, so I didn’t want to hinder you with my presence. “
Feeling the throbbing pain again, she asked defensively, “ When have I ever called you a nuisance? “
At that moment, she recalled how she treated him at the expense of which she ended up at the nurse’s office. About to apologize, Kait cut her short and said, “ Don’t worry, Sakura! I won’t hinder you with my presence any longer. “
“ What do you mean? “ She asked, confused to which he immediately responded, “ From this day forth, I won’t ever appear before you. The next time you utilize the wish box function, another guardian angel will appear before you. I bid you farewell my human. It was nice seeing you again after sixteen years. “
!
While looking extremely sad, Kaito added as a last statement, “ I was delighted when I saw your wish appearing in my box request and thought I might be useful to you this time, but I was undeniably wrong. “
“ I won’t hinder you any longer than I already have. Take care of yourself and may you live prosperously! “
Sakura looked around and saw bubbles suddenly forming around Kaito and understood he would soon vanish alongside the bubbles.
Although weak in the knees, she managed to drag him out of the bubbles before they circled him completely. Throwing him on the bed, she entrapped his hands and soon the bubbles across the room vanished into thin air.
“ Sakura, what are you doing? “
Kaito struggled to break free and for some reason, he was unable to utilize his angelic powers.
“ You claimed to be my guardian angel a while ago, but now you want to leave me just because I denied your existence on the spur of the moment? “ She glared at him. “ Were you expecting me to silently let you leave? “
Confused as to her behavior, Kaito asked straightforwardly, “ I don’t understand why you would prevent me from leaving when I would have done what you wanted. I was trying to make things easier for you, so why are you stopping me? “
At the sound of the question, she surprised him even more, “ When have I asked you to leave? “
“ What? “
Gasping, she said, “ I don’t believe in fairy tales and as my guardian angel, you should know why, don’t you? “
—
“ I have never relied on anyone because life taught me that whenever you rely too much on someone or even appreciate them, they leave you, making you feel betrayed. “
“ I used the wish box to convince myself that things like angels don’t exist in this world, but you actually appeared, so now I ought to believe in your existence. As you have made yourself known to me, I cannot allow you to leave. “ Sakura exclaimed, sternly.
“ Whether you’re real or not, I’m going to believe that you exist and aren’t simply the fruit of my imagination. “
Stroking his featured blue hair, Sakura gently kissed it and said, “ As you’re my guardian angel, you have the responsibility of watching over me and making my dreams come true, don’t you? “
“ Stay with me and make me discover the joy of life again! “ She grinned faintly.
Staring at her in dismay, Kaito asked sternly, “ Is that your wish? “
“ Yes, I’d like you to stay, Kaito. “ She nodded affirmatively before him.
“ Alright then! I shall do as you say, Sakura, so could you please unhand me now? “
?
“ Unhand you? “
Noticing the position they were in, Sakura suddenly stood, but due to the haste in which she stood, she almost tripped, but fortunately Kaito caught her, stopping her fall.
“ Be careful, Sakura! “
“ Thanks for saving me again, Kaito. “ She grinned faintly.
Sensing footsteps approaching, bubbles formed around Kaito once more. Alerted by this, Sakura grabbed his hand. Understanding her concern, Kaito uttered, “ I’m not leaving, Sakura, so don’t worry! You’ll see me again after you’re done with your classes. “
“ You made a wish, so I cannot just leave until I make it come true. “ He ascertained to her sternly.
Releasing his hand, the bubbles around him overlapped and he soon vanished from her sight.
Returning to her bed, Sakura closed her eyes as she faked sleeping by the time the door to the nurse’s office opened.
Finding her to be asleep, the nurse lady grinned as she returned to her desk to fill in some documents.
Although fake-sleeping at first, Sakura ended up sleeping for real. Kaito at the time was recalling the scene with Sakura.
“ Her grasp was so tight on my writs that I can still feel it. She overpowered me by just making contact, how is that possible? “
“ Could I have missed something? “
Looking through the glass window of the nurse’s office, Kaito saw Sakura soundly sleeping and mumbled, “ I should go check things out while she’s asleep. “
Vanishing from sight, Kaito returned to the angel realm where Christopher was waiting for him.
“ Where have you vanished to since this morning? “
“ Christopher? “
Christopher questioned him arbitrarily as to his whereabouts. “ Where in the angel were you? “
Although surprised by his behavior, Kaito answered nonetheless, “ I went to see my human as she had called out for me. “
!
“ What? “
Christopher was stunned to the core by what his colleague was telling him. Mocking him, he said, “ Have you been reading too many stories again as usual? “
Ignoring the irony, Kaito gasped and said, “ I can understand your astonishment. I was utterly surprised too when I saw her request in my mailbox, but it wasn’t my imagination playing a trick on me again. “
—
“ Not only did she call out for me, but she also acknowledged my existence after sixteen long years of wait. Isn’t that wonderful? “ He beamed joyfully while Christopher was feeling irked for some reason.
“ Please excuse me but I have somewhere to be! “ Kaito flew past him to head toward his office.
Irking internally, Christopher mumbled, “ So you were finally acknowledged by your human, isn’t that so? Let me test that bond of yours and see how fickle it actually is! “
