Chapter 9:
I'M DUKE DAUGHTER BUT I GOT LOST ON OTHERWORLD
❒ AFTER LUNCH ❒
"Alright then, let's get to the main event!" Ren exclaimed enthusiastically.
"YAAA!!" Angelica responded with excitement, her eyes sparkling in anticipation of their next adventure.
The two of them left the ramen shop and made their way towards the shopping centre, which wasn't far from where they were. The bustling city, filled with life and energy, made their journey all the more exhilarating.
As they arrived at the shopping centre, Angelica gazed around with wide, amazed eyes. Towering buildings, dazzling lights, and shopfronts bursting with offers all captivated her, making her feel as if she had stepped into a whole new world.
"This is absolutely incredible, Ren-san! Everything is so big and glittering!" Angelica gasped in awe.
Ren smiled at her reaction. "Yes, this shopping centre is one of the best places in the city for shopping and leisure. You can find just about anything you need here."
They strolled through the expansive mall, Angelica’s eyes sparkling with curiosity at what she might discover next. Some shops sold electronics, others displayed exquisite jewellery, while some specialised in toys and games.
After a while, Angelica’s attention was drawn to a shop window filled with beautiful women’s clothing. The stylish designs and vibrant colours immediately captivated her.
"Shall we go in, Angelica-san?" Ren asked, noticing her interest in the dresses.
With light steps, they entered the shop. Inside, they were greeted by a variety of neatly arranged garments. Angelica and Ren wandered through the store, taking in the different styles and designs on display.
Angelica was mesmerised by the modern clothing, so different from what she usually wore in her own world. Every outfit intrigued her, making it difficult to choose just one.
Ren, despite not being particularly knowledgeable about fashion, found himself admiring some of the designs. He accompanied Angelica with enthusiasm, helping her pick out clothes that suited her taste.
After some time browsing, Angelica finally settled on a few outfits she liked. She selected several pieces that caught her eye and turned to Ren.
"What do you think of this one, Ren-san?" she asked, holding up a dress.
Ren examined it carefully before smiling. "It looks lovely, Angelica-san. I’m sure it will suit you perfectly."
They headed to the fitting rooms, where Angelica tried on each outfit while Ren gave his opinion on what suited her best.
Once satisfied with her choices, Angelica felt a surge of joy. However, a sudden realisation dawned upon her—she had no currency from Ren’s world. All she had were a few gold coins from her own world, which she had brought with her upon arriving here.
"Uhh, Ren-san..." Angelica called out hesitantly, her face betraying her unease.
"Yes? What is it, Angelica-san?" Ren asked attentively, stopping to look at her with curiosity.
Angelica bit her lower lip, searching for the right words. "I... I don’t have any money from this world. All I have are some gold coins from my own world. I completely forgot about it with all the excitement today."
Ren nodded understandingly, offering her a reassuring smile. "Ah, I see... No need to worry, Angelica-san. I’ll cover everything you need. These are just everyday clothes and essentials, so it’s no trouble at all."
Relief washed over Angelica at Ren’s words, though guilt still gnawed at her. "I’m sorry for troubling you, Ren-san," she murmured apologetically.
Ren chuckled lightly. "There’s no need to apologise. It’s my responsibility, isn’t it?"
Angelica was touched by Ren’s kindness. A warmth spread through her chest as she realised how well he treated her. It was the first time anyone besides her family had shown her such care. Her fiancé, the Crown Prince, had always been distant and indifferent towards her.
But then, she quickly shook off her thoughts. "No! No, I mustn’t think like this. I am betrothed to the Crown Prince—I can’t feel this way," she whispered to herself.
Deep inside, Angelica struggled with her emotions. She knew that having feelings for Ren was something she could not allow, given her engagement. Yet, Ren’s kindness and attentiveness made it increasingly difficult to suppress her emotions.
Ren, noticing her shifting expressions, grew concerned. "Are you alright, Angelica-san?" he asked gently.
Angelica snapped out of her thoughts and quickly put on a smile. "Ah, yes, I’m fine. Just a little tired, perhaps."
Ren nodded, though he sensed there was more to it than she let on. "Alright then, let’s finish up our shopping and get everything you need."
They continued their shopping trip, picking out more essentials for Angelica. Though her heart remained conflicted, she forced herself to focus on their task rather than her emotions.
"Hmm, would you like to get a phone too, Angelica-san?" Ren asked, his tone hopeful. "It might help us figure out a way to send you back to your world."
Angelica looked at the device Ren held out, her eyes filled with curiosity. She tilted her head slightly. "A phone?"
Ren grinned and pulled out his own phone, pressing a few buttons before showing her the home screen. "It’s a very common device in this world. With it, you can communicate with others, search for information, and much more."
Angelica was fascinated by the little gadget. Though she had never seen anything like it before, Ren’s explanation helped her grasp its purpose quickly. "This technology is amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it in my world," she admitted in awe.
Ren chuckled. "So, would you like to have one? It will help you stay connected here and maybe even assist in finding a way back to your world."
Angelica pondered the idea seriously. A phone could indeed be useful in adapting to this world. "I think that would be a good idea, Ren-san. Thank you so much," she said with a warm smile.
Relieved, Ren put his phone away. "No need to thank me, Angelica-san. I’m happy to help. Let’s head to the electronics store and get you one."
They made their way to a nearby electronics shop. As they walked, Angelica couldn’t help but feel grateful for Ren’s kindness. Though this world was unfamiliar, his presence made it far less daunting.
At the shop, Ren helped Angelica choose a suitable phone, explaining its features and guiding her through the basics.
Afterwards, they searched for one final and crucial item.
Ren called out to Angelica hesitantly. "Umm, Angelica-san," he said, waving her over. They stood in front of a lingerie store, and Ren pulled some cash from his pocket.
"Here’s the money... I’ll wait outside, so you can buy what you need yourself," he murmured awkwardly.
Angelica blinked in confusion. "?"
Ren turned bright red, realising she didn’t understand. "Ah, well... Murasaki-san mentioned it to you, didn’t she?"
Angelica nodded, finally grasping his meaning. Blushing, she stepped inside.
Ren waited outside, feeling slightly flustered. Though he wanted to be helpful, he knew there were some things best left for Angelica to handle herself.
A few minutes later, Angelica emerged, her cheeks still tinged pink, a shopping bag in hand. She approached Ren hesitantly.
"Thank you, Ren-san," she said softly, still a little embarrassed.
Ren gave her a gentle smile. "No need to thank me, Angelica-san. I’m happy to help."
Despite the awkward moment, they both felt a little closer. As the evening fell, they decided to have dinner before heading home. Under the warm glow of the setting sun, their bond continued to grow.
