“Let me use antiseptic on your eyes.” Oliver said, taking out the antiseptic from his pocket.
“When did you buy it?” I asked him.
“I purchased it when you were unconscious.” He answered.
“Close your eyes.” he said, using the antiseptic on my eyes.
"I know you hit me intentionally, Oliver.” I said to him,
Oliver didn’t even flinch. "It wasn’t intentional."
I scoffed. "Don’t lie to me."
He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling like I was the one being difficult. "I wanted to hit you, but I didn’t mean to hurt you like that."
I laughed, short and humorless. "So you admit it. You wanted to hit me."
Oliver shrugged, his expression unreadable. "I already apologized."
I clenched my jaw, my patience snapping. "Your apology won’t bring my eye back."
"Oh, don’t be so dramatic," he said, rolling his eyes. "It’s a bruise, not a missing eye."
I slammed the ice pack onto the table. "Was it because you were jealous?"
His smirk faltered, but only for a second. "What?"
I took a step forward, refusing to back down. "I saw you. Glaring at me like you wanted to rip my throat out."
Oliver narrowed his eyes. "Jealous of who?"
"Ella," I said, watching him closely. "She told me you were her ex.”
For a second, something flickered in his eyes. Then he scoffed. "And?"
"And that explains everything," I snapped. "You couldn’t handle seeing me with someone else, so you did what you always do—act like a violent, immature asshole."
Oliver’s jaw tightened. "You really think I give a damn about who you talk to?"
"Yes!" I shouted. "You think I don’t notice the way you glare every time I breathe near someone else?"
He took a step closer, eyes flashing with irritation. "You’re delusional."
"And you’re pathetic," I shot back. "What, still not over her? Still so bitter that you have to take it out on me?"
Oliver’s nostrils flared. "Oh, please. Like you’re anything special."
I let out a sharp laugh. "Right, I’m nothing to you, but you still decided to hit me with a goddamn baseball. Out of everyone on that field, it just happened to be me?"
His lips curled into a smirk, but there was no humor in it. "Maybe I was just sick of your voice."
I clenched my fists. "And maybe I’m sick of you acting like you don’t care when it’s so obvious that you do."
His eyes darkened. "I don’t."
"Then why the hell are we even having this conversation?”
Oliver scoffed. "You have no idea what you're talking about."
I let out a cold laugh. "Oh yeah? Then let me make something very clear to you, Oliver."
I took a step forward, my voice sharp. "Ella broke up with me two months ago."
For the first time, Oliver’s smug expression wavered.
I didn’t stop. "She dumped me. And you know why?" I let out another bitter laugh. "Because she realized she was gay. She fell in love with my sister."
Oliver blinked. "What?"
"Yeah." I crossed my arms. "So congratulations. You wasted all your pathetic time over nothing."
Oliver was silent, his jaw tight.
I shook my head. "God, you’re unbelievable," I muttered. "You’re so obsessed with making my life hell that you didn’t even stop to think."
Oliver’s lips parted slightly, but he said nothing.
For once, I had the last word. I walked back inside my house, closing the door. I heard the noise of the bike. He returned to his house, I guess.
I can't believe him. He was jealous of me talking to Ella. He didn't even know that we broke up months ago. He wasted his jealousy and time over me. I laid on my bed, closing my eyes.
Next day, I woke up late in the morning. I saw my phone. It had some texts from Max. I wonder what he wants to tell me.
[Max] : Hey Liam. Clara's at the hospital. Can you come meet us?
[Max] : It's room number 16 in Everhope Hospital.
I wonder how she ended up in the hospital. I should probably go and check on her right now. I quickly showered and changed my clothes. It was already ten in the morning.
“How did you end up in the hospital?” I asked Clara who was lying on the bed, her right leg fractured.
“I was teaching the new part timer how to make coffee. He ruined the kitchen and spilled the water and milk all over. I slipped and fell down badly.” She answered.
“What about you?” Max asked me, pointing at my eye.
“Oh. This. Someone accidentally hit me with a ball.” I said.
“You guys wait here. I will bring us some juice.” Max said, moving towards the exit.
“What happened? You were just blushing.” I asked Clara, my tone is calm.
“Alright. It's the doctor. He checked and put a plaster on my right leg to heal it.” She said smiling.
“And?” I asked.
“He looks hot. I have a crush on him.” She said, her cheeks turned red.
“Oh. What are you doing here Liam?” Josh asked me.
He is a senior doctor in this hospital. He’s been helping me. He is trustworthy. He was checking on Clara and said that she should go home and rest. He walked away.
“It is him. Do you know him?” Clara asked me, her excitement on a different level.
“Josh. You like Josh.” I asked her, my tone is soft.
“Is it his name? Josh. Yes, it's him.” She said,
“I brought us orange juice.” Max said, giving us a bottle each.
“Doctor said that she should go home and rest. You guys should go now. My shift will start now.” I said, waving them.
I completed my shift at the hospital and walked home. I need to find more clues. I wonder why Caleb isn't answering me. I tried to see his post.
When I checked his Instagram profile, I saw a recent post. It was him in the Emberfit Gym. The captain had said that he recently started going to the gym.
So he's doing gym now. It means he is in Everbrook. He's been ignoring me. But why? I need to find him. I should probably go to the Emberfit Gym.
