Interview with Caleb Cerise

Liam: How do you know Stiles?
Caleb: He was my classmate.
Liam: Manny told me you used to bully him.
Caleb: Yeah… but it wasn’t like we were the only ones.
Liam: What do you mean?
Caleb: Look, I’m not saying we were nice to him, but Stiles wasn’t some loner that everyone ignored. Things happened.
Liam: What kind of things?
Caleb: He saw something he wasn’t supposed to.
Liam: Saw what?
Caleb: [Pauses.] A few days before he died, he walked in on something after school.
Liam: Be specific.
Caleb: I don’t know the full story, okay? All I know is, I was outside, and I heard Stiles arguing with someone in the chemistry lab.
Liam: Who was he arguing with?
Caleb: I don’t know! I didn’t see them.
Liam: What were they saying?
Caleb: I only caught pieces of it. Something about “keeping quiet” and “not getting involved.”
Liam: And you just left?
Caleb: Yeah. Why would I care?
Liam: Did Stiles ever mention it to you?
Caleb: No. But after that day, he seemed… off. He wasn’t scared, exactly. More like distracted.
Liam: Distracted how?
Caleb: He stopped reacting to us. If we messed with him, he didn’t flinch. Like his mind was somewhere else.
Liam: And on the day he died?
Caleb: I didn’t see him.
Liam: Are you sure?
Caleb: [Tense pause.] Yeah. I’m sure.
Liam: That’s all for now.
