Chapter 7

I woke up in the morning as I realised it was 1st of July. It's my birthday today. Finally, I am turning eighteen today. I quickly took a bath and changed my clothes. I walked towards the door as I found a letter.
It's the same letter again. “Happy Birthday Liam.” It's from my mom. She has been giving me letters on my birthday since she left me and Mia for her rich boyfriend. I was just twelve when she got married to a wealthy man because my dad passed away.
My mom’s husband said that he didn't want to live with me and Mia. He told her to leave us and go with him. So she left us for her husband, just to be rich without even thinking about us. 
Since then we have been living alone. But Aunt Millie was there for us. She has been taking care of us and bringing us food. Ever since mom left us, she never let us feel sad. 
But it's my day today. I must celebrate it. Then I saw the time. It was almost twelve and I was late for my shift. I quickly grabbed the car’s keys and started the car. I drove towards the Everhope Hospital. 
I was working on fixing appointments and maintaining records. Telling the doctors about their appointments and sending them to the room. Suddenly a notification pops up. 
[Mia] : What do you want to eat tonight? 
[Me] : Make some spaghetti and pasta. Could you also bring some cupcakes from Tiny delights. You know I like Salted Caramel. 
[Mia] : Alright. 
I turned backwards when I saw Oliver looking at me. He scared me for a second. Who even pops up out of nowhere. 
“What do you want now?” I asked him, crossing my arms. 
“Looks like your eyes are healed.” He said, patting my head. 
“Don't touch me. Don't you have any surgery?” I asked him. 
“Not right now. I am taking in fresh air.” He said, walking forward. After some time, it was lunch time. I was hungry as I didn't eat breakfast. I was doing my work when I saw everyone going for the lunch break. 
“Eat this cupcake.” one of the interns gave it to me. “Dr. Brown brought cupcakes for everyone today.” He said.
I took a look at the cupcake. It was Salted Caramel just as I like. Is this a coincidence? Or Oliver brought it for me. Did he look at my texts earlier? 
I took a bite of the cupcake. This taste. Sure. It's from Tiny delights. My favourite bakery. This can't be a coincidence. He must have seen my chats with Mia. I ate the cupcake. 
It was already three. My shift was over. I left the hospital. I drove towards Stiles' house. I rang the doorbell. Mrs. Bennet opened the door. She was happy to see me. 
“Did you find something?” Mrs. Bennet asked me in excitement. 
“I found out that Stiles had an online friend and probably talked to her all the time.” I answered. 
“Is that so?” She asked. 
“Yes. Did you find anything unusual?” I asked her. 
“He always used to be on his laptop.” she replied, “I thought he was studying.” 
“Can you show me the laptop?” I asked her. 
“Sure.” she said, handing me the laptop. 
I unlocked the laptop. It didn't have any password. I checked the apps. Everyone was normal. Wait a minute. Linkup. It's not common. I tried to find information. It's an online platform to talk with strangers. 
Is this the platform Stiles used to talk with his online friend? I must find that person? Maybe he/she knows something. I tabbed on the logo as it opened the front page. 
On this platform, he had only one friend. The app requires you to make a username. I went through his profiles. His user id was EmberKnight. He only talked to one person. His last chat was on 2nd of May, 2024. The day he died. 
He must have said something to that person. I must talk to the person. I went through the chats but it didn't show. Maybe he changed the settings of this app. Now I need to ask her if she knows something. The username of the person Stiles was talking with was LunarWraith. 
“Did you get something?” Mrs. Bennet asked in concern. 
“I found out that he was talking to someone on this platform. His last chat was on 2nd of May.” I answered, showing her the laptop. 
“The day he suicide.” She said, 
“I will try to find her and ask her if she knows something.” I said, shutting down the laptop. 
I thanked her for the help. I walked towards the exit and sat in my car. I went home and took a nap. It was six when I woke up. I went into the kitchen and realised that there are no snacks. 
I went to the closest shopping centre which was just half an hour away. I walked inside and took all the snacks and drinks. I paid for it and walked out of the shop. I was walking back home. 
I was crossing the road when suddenly my head started to hurt. I touched my head and it was uncontrollable pain. I saw a truck coming towards me but I couldn't move. Then someone pulled me towards him. I fell on him as I saw it was Oliver and I fainted. 
When I opened my eyes, I was in a car. Oliver was driving. How am I here? 
“You woke up.” He said, looking at me while driving. 
“What am I doing here?” I asked him. 
“You suddenly fainted in the middle of the road.” He answered me. 
“Where are we doing?” I asked him. 
“To a nearby clinic to check you.” He replied. 
“I am alright. Let me go home.” I said. 
“But we are already here.” He said, opening the car door. 
We walked inside the clinic and the doctor did my check up. He said it was a concussion. I can go home now. I walked towards the exit. 
“Now I will go home.” I said. 
“Sit in the car. I will drop you.” He said, opening the car. 
“I am okay. I can go by myself.” I said. 
“What if you fainted again. I was seeing you last. I can't let that happen.” he said. 
He drove me home safely. I walked towards my room. It was almost eight. I heard my sister calling me. She must have come home. We ate dinner and celebrated my birthday. Then I went to bed.
