Chapter 15:

Sick of You

Juilet and her Romeo

“Ugh, why must it be like this?” Ryuo said as he laid in bed, doing his best to cover his body with his blanket. Despite this he still felt the chills as the boy sneezed loudly, followed by a small coughing fit.

The mighty leader of Monta academy was now bedridden with a majorly bad flu. Normally such illness wouldn’t deter him. He strongly considered toughing it out for the sake of his role were it not for one fact.

It wasn’t a school day, fortunately for him. So his only sick day would not cause him to miss any class time or fall behind the rest of his classmates. The only problem he had to deal with now was the pain and suffering caused by being ill.

“How bad is it really?” He heard a familiar voice speaking. When he turned his head, he saw Jurie standing before him. “I mean, at least I’m here, right?”

“Wow I really am sick today.” He couldn’t believe his eyes. “I’m hallucinating you standing right there. I suppose you must be upset I couldn’t see you at our usual place today. I wish I could make it up to you.” He spoke as if she were there, but believed her presence to be caused by his inner guilt.

“Well, there’s one way to pay me back.” She said before leaning over him and planting a soft kiss on his forehead. One that felt much too real to him to be coming from a simple hallucination.

“Wait a second, Jurie is that really you!?”

“Hehehe, of course it’s me, silly.” She giggle as she sat down on the bed besides him. “When you told me you were sick, I couldn’t just leave you alone, right? What kind of girlfriend leaves the boy she loves all alone at a time like this?”

“I should be asking you how you got into my room.” He spoke with more energy than before. The shock seemed to do wonders in making him forget his ordeal.

“How else? Obviously I went in through the window.” She answered as if it were a normal response. “I did it before. Why are you so surprised?”

“The last and only time was before we were dating.” He replied. “It stunned me then and will always catch me off guard. Come on, aren’t you scared of being caught?”

“Relax, I already scouted the place out.” The way she put it didn’t fill him with confidence. Not that she missed anything, but rather that she might be too good at this kind of suspicious activity. “Anyway, I got you something for that nasty cold of yours.” From the bag she had also brought with her, Jurie produced a thermos. Opening it revealed steaming hot soup made just for him.

“It’s hard to argue when you were kind enough to give me that.” He gladly accepted her gift and took a bite. The taste was rich and the amount of heat clearly out his throat. “Judging from its quality, I can tell you weren’t the one to make this.”

“Guilty as charged.” She was famously bad at preparing meals. Even something simple ended up being a disaster for the girl. “I asked my new personal maid to make it for me.”

“Your new personal maid?” He looked at her in bewilderment, taking another bite.

“Yeah, that’s something my papa kind of dumped on me.” She rubbed the back of her head nervously as she answered. “She’s the same age as us. Papa says it because I should have some help because of my position at school. But between you and me, I think it’s just to give the poor girl a chance after what happened to her.”

“I would ask for more details, but I doubt she’d want someone like me knowing her backstory.” It wasn’t just that girl that he thought about either when she mentioned it. “You know, coincidentally I also now have a personal servant now.”

His father also gave him the same excuse of it being for his sake considering his new role as student council president. Though after hearing her, he couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to the story.

“You have another one?” She asked, her eyes now wide open. To Jurie, this was a problem. When she scouted earlier, she only kept tabs on the other servants she already knew about. This new person was a variable she didn’t consider.

“Hello master.” They heard a knock on the door followed by words of a young man. “I’m coming in.” Without waiting after his knock, Ryuo’s new servant opened the door and peered inside.

There wasn’t much time for either of them to react. Fortunately Jurie was quick on her feet in finding a hiding place. However without time to consider the options, this meant a rather sub-optimal spot as she laid under the sheets in bed with Ryuo.

“You can come in.” Ryuo spoke, trying to maintain his cool. “Though it seems I’m a little late to give you permission.” He said, reprimanding his servant for his sudden arrival.

“Sorry for the intrusion.” The servant bowed. He appeared to be the same age as them. Just like the maid that Jurie had mentioned before. “Since you’re sick, I didn’t want to wait in case you were sleeping.”

“As you can see, I am awake and alert.” He shuffled uncomfortable in bed, praying his servant wouldn’t notice the extra lump under his sheets. Meanwhile Jurie hugged him tightly as she tried to make herself as small as possible to avoid detection.

She positioned herself towards his lower half. Which of course put her in a rather compromising and awkward position as she couldn’t help but blush under the heat and thought of where she was in relation to his well build body.

This thought wasn’t lost on him either as all he could do was smile at his new servant and act as if nothing was wrong. Things would look really bad if they were caught now. “So Azutoyo, I assure you everything is perfectly fine on my end. That’s all I need for a check up.”

“I suppose so.” Azutoyo noticed there was one thing strange about this sight. “When was this handed to you?” He asked, mentioning the thermos laying on his night stand. “I can’t imagine staff giving you that to eat out of.”

“Ah, well actually one of my friends dropped that off for me.”

“Really? I didn’t see anyone coming over.”

“Guess you just missed them.” Ryuo was sweating bullets as he tried to keep his story straight. “It’s a big place and they only came to drop it off.”

“Okay…” He looked at him suspiciously for a moment before appearing to buy his story. “If that’s all, I’ll take my leave again.”

“Yes, go ahead.” He watched as the boy walked out of the room. The moment they heard the door click closed, Jurie revealed herself from under the sheets, taking a deep breath as she did.

“That was close.” She said, breathing deeply as if she had run a marathon.

“Yeah, are you okay? I can’t imagine it being comfortable down there.” He asked, trying to comfort her.

“Well… You smell nice.” She said, which caused the both of them to fall into silence for a painfully long time.

“…” Jurie regretted saying so, thinking it might make him think of her as a pervert. But she said it both because it was the truth and as a means to compliment him so he wouldn’t think himself too disheveled. “Thanks…” He awkwardly broke the silence, caressing her cheek when saying so. “But you don’t have to lie to me just to be nice.”

With that, she got out of bed and unruffled her skirt. As much as she wished she could stay. It was painfully clear to the both of them that the risk was too much at this point.

“Get well soon, okay?” She spoke to him softly, bending over to get closer.

“I only hope I didn’t get you sick over this.” He replied as his head rested peacefully on his pillow.

“That’s a risk I’m always willing to take.” She said as she closed the distance between them. Giving him a soft goodbye kiss on the lips.

Meanwhile, Azutoyo walked down the hall, making his way back to his own private room. He quietly headed in, gently closing the door behind him, then took a massive sigh as he undid his hair and loosened his tie.

“You really are one tough nut to crack.” He muttered to himself. “But don’t worry Ryuo Myoufuku. You’ll slip up soon enough and I’ll expose you for all your worth! Heh… Heheh…. Hahaha!” He chuckled to himself, which soon grew into full blown laughter.
