Episode 1

“Agghhh!!! I want to go home.” Veena said with a sigh on the way to school

“First day of school, and this is what you say?” Ayumi replied, raising one eyebrow

“Yeah, the first day of high school means the first boring day.” Veena sighed again, making Ayumi roll her eyes at her

The two girls were just about to arrive at the school gate when:

“Ring! Ring! Ring!” the school bell rang

The two students looked at each other, saying, “Oh no! We’re late!” and both of them dashed into the school

Ayumi found her classroom and sat down in the back by the window

“Phew…We barely made it in time. I hope Veena fits in with her class.”

Meanwhile

“I think I’m lost.” Veena said worriedly, looking left and right, trying to find her classroom

“Where is Ayumi when you need her?” Veena said with a facepalm. Then she saw two girls and thought ‘Hey, they’re wearing the same necktie color for freshmen; maybe I should follow them?’

Then, Veena sneakily followed the girls, hiding in one corner, hoping not to get noticed.

When the girls turned left

Veena followed them and noticed they disappeared

“Huh?! Where did they go?”

She asked herself when she suddenly got hit by a bag

“Ouch!”

“Take that! Creep! Stop following us!” The girl said, still hitting Veena with her bag

“Umm…Shion? You might want to stop that now.” The other girl said

But she kept on hitting Veena

“Ow! *hit* wait! *hit* Sorry! *hit* I just got lost so I followed you two to find the freaking classroom!”

Veena finally said in between hits

“Eh?” the girl finally stopped hitting Veena

“Ehhh??” The other girl said, shocked

“Eeeehhhhhh?” – Veena

The three girls just looked at each other, still dumbfounded at what just happened

A few classes ended, and now it is lunchtime,

“Hahahahahhaha!” Ayumi laughed out loud, failing at trying to hold her laughter after hearing Veena’s bag attack story.

“You’ve been cracking up for like 10 minutes now, You better stop unless you want to choke on your food.” Veena said as she planted her face at the table, totally ignoring her sandwich at hand

“At least your boring first day didn’t end up as boring as you think.” Ayumi replied as she pointed her spoon at Veena and continued to eat her curry for lunch

“Yeahhh, but God, that was so embarrassing! We ended up saying sorry to each other multiple times on the way to the classroom. It was so awkward!” Veena said as she chomped a bite off of her sandwich

“I’ve been thinking…” Ayumi seems to want to say something but hesitates to say it.

“What?” Veena ponders, waiting for Ayumi to speak her thoughts

“Why don’t we make a club! I mean, yeah, since it’s my senior year, clubs are now mandatory, but you as a freshman could use some… ya know, ‘social connection’?” Ayumi said as her eyes brightened with each passing thought

As Veena heard this, she almost choked on her sandwich

“Am I really such a hopeless case?” Veena asked, sweat drooping from the question

Ayumi gave her a pat on the shoulder. “Being aware of it is a great start!” she said as she gave her a thumbs up.

“So, what is this club supposed to be about?” Veena gives in to the idea and lets Ayumi tell the details

“I’m working on that…” Ayumi said as she scratched her cheek

“Guess we’ll start on the name of the club.” Veena said with a sigh

“Remind me again why we are standing in front of an apartment complex for like 15 minutes on a weekend this early in the morning? Ugggh... my beauty sleep is ruined.” Veena asked Ayumi as she tried to fix her hair because Ayumi just dragged her out of her home.

“Good thing we’re neighbors, right? And besides, we need to do this for the club. I know you’ve been up all night just watching your favorite streamer.” Ayumi replied as she rolled her eyes at Veena

-Flashback-

“I can’t approve of this club.” The teacher said as she put the club submission paper on the table

“What?! Why?” Ayumi exclaimed, surprised her club didn’t get approved, and Veena just listened as she kept checking out her nails, obviously bored at the moment

“It’s because, first of all, you lack members, and it seems to me you two will just laze around wasting time.” The teacher replied, raising one eyebrow at the two girls.

“Oh, you bet, that's obviously what we're going to d-Ouch!” Veena cried out in pain because Ayumi just kicked her quietly in her leg.

“*Shush, you! You need this club, and so do I so help me or I swear…*” Ayumi whispered to Veena as she gave her an intimidating smile.

“Okay, fine! We plan to have activities in the club focusing on new and various experiences in socializing. And how many members do we even need for approval?” Veena explained to the teacher

“Activities, huh… hmmm, okay! I’ll approve of this.” As the teacher said that, the two girls jumped out of joy

“However…” The girls stopped, and Ayumi knew she did not like the sound of what came next.

“You must recruit the students that I recommend. If this club is for socializing, it better have students who need it the most.” The teacher said with a smile and gave the girls a thumbs up

“Well, now that’s bullshit.” Veena said as Ayumi pinched her side, saying “Shhhhh!”

“What was that?”The teacher didn’t quite hear Veena

“Oh, nothing!” Ayumi said as the two girls gave their nervous smiles.

-End of Flashback-

“So, the first student we got to recruit lives here?” Veena said as she pointed at the big apartment complex

“Yeah, the teacher told me he’s been absent since school started, so he might need our help. Good thing I asked his class president for his handouts, so we got an excuse to talk to him.” Ayumi said as she waves the handouts in her hand to Veena

“Kudos to the teacher for dumping this to us.” Veena said as she stared at the apartment complex and thought ‘Hmm, this kid must be rich.’ Then the two let themselves in as they find the unit the student lives in. Obviously, Ayumi led the way otherwise, they would have gotten lost if Veena had led.

“So, what are we waiting for? Ring his doorbell!” Ayumi said to Veena as she held Veena’s hand, forcing her to ring the doorbell. “Wait, I’m not ready yet!” Veena said as she kept resisting Ayumi

“Uhhh.. What are you two doing on my doorstep?”

“*Hey! Are you sure it’s not too late to back out of this club?*” Veena whispered as she nudged her elbow at Ayumi. The two girls are now seated in the dining room, waiting for the man as he said he would prepare something for them.

“*And why on earth would you ask that?*” Ayumi whispered back at Veena, but she had an idea why Veena asked that.

“*Look at him! His full appearance screams bad news.*” Veena said as she pointed in the direction where the guy went, Hopefully, they’re not within earshot. But Ayumi understood what Veena was trying to say. The student has a mean look with multiple piercings in his ear, his hair is long and tied in a ponytail, and he has tattoos on both of his arms. A dragon on the left and a tiger on the right. Also, a snake tattoo on his collarbone.

“*He is kind enough to let us in and serve us something, so that counts? Oh, wait, he’s coming.*” Ayumi said, and she was right, the boy is approaching them holding a tray that must be refreshments and snacks.

“My shitty fridge is practically empty so this is all I have when I came back from the f*cking convenience store earlier.” The boy said as he placed the tray at the table and took a seat across Ayumi and Veena

‘Woah, language,’ Veena thought as she drank a glass when –Pfftttt!!! She spat the drink at the boy

‘Wow, great first impression, Veena. way to go.’ Ayumi thought and facepalmed

“Is this beer?! You served us beer?!” Veena exclaimed as Ayumi handed out a tissue to the boy. “Here you go. Sorry about that. You’re Ze, right? Nice to meet you.”

“Thanks, for the record I just f*cking told ya that’s all I have and some damn cookies the landlady gave me.” Ze said as he wiped off his face.

“Why are you two even in my home? Who the hell are ya anyway?!” Ze asked. Then Ayumi explained about his handouts and the whole ordeal about the club.

“…and that’s about it.” Ayumi said, hoping Ze would join them since he kept listening as he nodded during the talk.

“A club, huh…” Ze said as he seemed to think it over as the two girls nodded at him

“And you two want me to join?” Ze asked as the girls nodded again

“Yeah, I don’t give a damn.” Ze said, and when Ayumi was supposed to say something, Ze stood up and pulled the two girls and tried to drag them out.

“Since you’re done and all, you can get the f*ck out now.” Ze said as he tried to push the girls out

“But wait!-“ Veena tried to talk this out, but Ze was still pushing them until -bang!- Ayumi’s phone fell out of her pocket. ‘What a wonderful day this has been so far,’ Ayumi thought as she was about to pick up her phone when Ze grabbed it first. *Ping! You have a new message.* The phone lit up as it was notified.

Ze was about to give it to Ayumi when he took a look at her phone. And he just froze there.

“Dude, give her phone back.” Veena said as she was about to snatch it from Ze’s hand,

Ze finally moved and showed Ayumi’s phone to her face.

“IS THIS YOUR F*CKING CAT?! WHAT BREED IS IT? F*CK! LOOK HOW CUTE THIS IS-“. Ze kept on rambling on and on about Ayumi’s phone background picture, which is her pet cats: Lili and Kulet

“Huh… I didn’t peg him as a cat person.” Veena said she shrugged

“Neither did I. Goes to show there’s more than meets the eye.” Ayumi said as she shrugged back at Veena

After the whole fiasco, Ze finally gave them a chance again and listened to the two girls. Somehow, Ayumi finally convinced him to join the club under the condition that Ze could see the pictures and videos of her cats and let him pet them.
