Chapter 1:
The Prince of the Otherworld becomes a Highschool Student
Bursts of purple and pink erupted around him, the sight causing the boy to get nauseous. The few seconds it lasted felt like hours, but when he finally got through, the sight of the blue heavens met his red eyes, and a chilling wind blew his black hair. “Amazing, it truly looks like the ones in those books,” he exclaimed with great awe.
But this awe quickly fizzled out as he heard something behind him. Turning around, he saw a boy whose hair was more blue than the infinite horizon, with green coming out of his mouth and nose.
The boy’s face turned to one with disgust, “What a captain you truly are Kaus, I’m so fortunate to have you as my blade,” he remarked, clearly in a sarcastic tone. The boy named Kaus continued to throw up, as drops of worry began to go into the boy’s mind, “Didn’t I tell you not to eat before going to the portal?”
It took a few seconds as Kaus recovered and cleaned his mouth using water, when he finally responded, “I thought it wouldn’t be too bad your Majesty.” The boy rolled his eyes before sighing.
“Use that communication spell, I’ll tell them that we made it through.” At the boy’s command, Kaus chanted some words, and as he finished, an orb was created.
Kaus was impressed with the spell, “Uncle Serioth’s truly a genius for making a spell like this.”
The black-haired boy nodded in agreement as he cleared his throat, coming closer to the ball. “Prince Iscodaya Kousa of Phirines here. We’ve successfully made it through the portal. Captain Kaus Irom threw up a little, but he’s fine now.”
As the boy named Iscodaya finished, a voice from the ball responded only a few seconds after, “Good, I hope you both remember our briefing. Constantly have it in your mind, to never reveal where you came from.” Iscodaya nodded to himself while Kaus blinked as he looked away from the ball.
“Yes, we won’t,” Iscodaya stated, his voice confident, “Me and Kaus will now try to find this apartment location, may you and the nation be safe, Uncle Serioth.” The boy nodded at Kaus, leading him to start closing the spell.
But before he did, the voice continued its speech, “You too, Iscodaya. You and Kaus are serving the nation beautifully, and I am proud of you both.” The spell shut off, as the two were left by themselves. Kaus had heard that last line, and as he did, he tried not to look at Iscodaya. But in a moment of disobedience, his gaze quickly turned to him, seeing his emotional eyes and tightened jaw.
“Didn’t I tell you to not look at me at these moments,” Iscodaya’s voice remarked, his cold tone baring a little more emotion.
“I’m sorry,” Kaus flatly replied, not sorry for disobeying, but sorry for embarrassing his Prince. The two had appeared in a remote mountain, so as Iscodaya had claimed his composure back, they began to descend. No noise came from either’s mouth for the first few minutes, but then.
“You didn’t pay attention to the briefing didn’t you?” Iscodaya asked, his voice cutting through the silence. Kaus’ face bore an awkward grin as he slowly began to turn his head in the other direction.
“Y-yeah I did,” he stuttered. Iscodaya’s scarlet gaze felt like daggers going into Kaus’ body.
“Oh yeah?” he teased, a cruel grin plastered on his face, “Tell me why we’re wearing this clothing?”
Kaus’ eyes beamed, “Well, it’s to blend in,” he confidently replied. But Iscodaya’s grin didn’t disappear.
“Alright then, what continent, and nation of his world are we currently in?” The Prince questioned again.
And yet again, Kaus’ confidence rose, “Continent of Asia, nation of Japan of course.”
“Alright mister smart guy, what is an apartment?” Like a boulder hitting a shaky building, Iscodaya’s question tore down Kaus’ confidence, his once confident replies now replaced with.
“Uhhhhh…”
Iscodaya’s smile disappeared, as Kaus already knew what was going to happen, “IT TOOK YOU TEN MINUTES TO LOSE CONCENTRATION!?!?” Iscodaya roared in anger. The rest of the descent was Iscodaya filling Kaus in with the information of the briefing, but it was mostly telling him off for not paying attention.
But as they made it to the foot of the mountain, a rustle was heard on a nearby bush. Iscodaya’s head had barely even turned to it as Kaus was already guarding Iscodaya, his fist baring a slight hue of blue as his eyes turned sharp.
But instead of an immediate threat, a creature came out, its body covered in orange fur, with long, droopy ears, and dark brown eyes. On its mouth was a blue circular object, and on its neck was a red collar.
“Your Majesty, is that thing safe?” Kaus asked, still on guard, Iscodaya began to search through all his memories with the books he had read about this world, and he remembered something.
“Yes, it’s a creature named, dog,” exclaimed the Prince. Kaus nodded, as he eased up, “Good thing we didn’t bring your blade, I read from a book that these things are apparently pets by the dominant race here.”
But as those words exited Iscodaya’s mouth, another creature came out of the bush. It resembled them, though a child and female, “Your Majesty! Is that the-”
“Human,” Iscodaya finished. The little girl’s brow raised, clearly confused.
“Hello~” She greeted in a happy tone, waving at the two. Iscodaya had seen that action once before, and that greeting was something he studied.
So as he cleared his throat, he prepared to speak the language he had been studying for the past two months, “Greetings,” he responded, his face completely serious. As Iscodaya continued to converse with the little girl, two other humans showed up, this time, they were adults.
Sensing the opportunity, Iscodaya asked the directions to a place named, apartment. Though a little weirded out by his way of speaking, the two humans pointed Iscodaya and Kaus to an apartment complex.
As the two followed the directions of the humans, they made their way into an expanse of buildings reaching up to the air, mechanical objects traveling with humans inside of them, and weird pathways that the two found hard to navigate on.
“Your Majesty, this place, is like Miviro in its technology, yet I sense no magic around this city.” Though he was shocked as well, Iscodaya was trying to get to their destination first, dragging the amazed Kaus with him.
“We’ll comprehend this world later, first we need to reach the apartment,” Iscodaya stated, as he stood on something he read as a crosswalk, waiting for the red light to turn green.
“You still haven’t told me what an apartment is,” Kaus asked, as Iscodaya dragged him by his collar as the lights turned green.
“It's an inn, we’ll be staying there as we study here,” Iscodaya replied, as he was starting to lose patience at this point. But as he and Kaus continued to talk, he passed a girl on the crosswalk.
And unbeknownst to him, the girl turned back, her eyes laced with curiosity, “Kei?” A voice called, taking her out of her trance. She quickly crossed the road and met up with her friends.
