Chapter 1:
The Cat, Mia and the stars
Every morning, Erik sings at sunrise, letting me know it’s time to get up.
I leap off my little armchair and trot to the kitchen, tail wagging, in search of a snack. Madam Mary always leaves the house early in the morning- she says the best things at the market are only available at down, and if she doesn’t set off right away, we’ll be left empty-handed. And I really don’t like that.
Looking out the window, I notice that today is a beautiful day, so I decide to go visit Mia. She’s a wonderful girl. She’s always played with me, and whenever I visit her, she showers me with cuddles and gives me those fish biscuits that are simply divine.
As I step through the little door, I run into Tom, the stray from the neighborhood. Despite the huge scar over his right eye, giving him a fierce look, he’s a great companion. Unfortunately, when he was little, his old owner mistreated him, so he ran away and chose to live free in the wild. Every time we meet, he tells me about his adventures , the places he’s been, and the friends he’s made.
“You know, I think I’ve found a home...”he says licking his fur.
“Really? What about your adventures?” I replay surprised by his decision.
“Well, yeah. They’re good people, and I’m starting to get a bit old to wander around. I think I’ll go live with them.” he answers with a lovely smile.
“Will you ever come visit me? I still want to hear about your adventures!”
“Of curse! I’m still an adventurer at heart. And I’ll definitely stop by for those delicious fish fillets Mary makes” HE says , laughing under his whiskers.
Just thinking about those amazing fillets makes my mouth water. Simply can’t resist. So, I quickly say goodbye, telling him to visit me soon, and take off running. At this time of day, someone special is waiting for me.
I take a little detour through the town center, heading towards uncle Ernest. He’s one of the best bakers in the west ( At least, that’s what madame Mary says.) What I do know for sure is that Ernest is incredibly kind. Every time I visit, he gives me a little scratch behind the ears, but more importantly , he always slips me a treat to nibble on.
“ Well well, look who’s here to see me! How are you little one?” Ernest scratches me behind the ears, he knows exactly where I like it. “Though you’re not so little anymore, huh? Are you sneaking extra snacks when Mary isn’t looking?” he jokes, as if he were as thin as a breadstick.
“Meow” I say slightly offended.
“Alright, alright, I get it. Today, I’ve got some tuna for you. I was making some pizza, and I had a little left over” Ernest hands me a small tin of fresh, delicious tuna. I scarf it down in no time and say goodbye. Mia’s house is still a long way off, but this little stop has given me the energy to keep going.
