Chapter 20:

The Incident

Juilet and her Romeo

Yumoko continued on with her shopping, but also kept tabs on Azutoyo. An easy task considering they were both at the store to purchase the same exact items due to her recipe.

“You know you don’t have to follow me, correct?” She spoke as they kept running into each other throughout each isle.

“I’m not, you’re the one copying me.” He was surprised to see this girl grab the same things he was grabbing. Granted he only was doing this because he was told by someone online to do this in order to garner more favor from Ryuo. Was it possible this girl also read that list? It shouldn’t be considering the forums he was on, though there was not much keeping Capas from using the site as well.

“While I’m sure that I have much better ways of service than you. It’s rather rude to be steal other people’s ideas.” She chuckled. In a sense, what she had said was true. Though from her perspective, that would be the best thing. Yumoko needed this boy to achieve a high level of skills if he were to prove himself to his master.

“Whatever, I’m just doing my job.” While he griped about the matter, Azutoyo couldn’t actually complain about the situation. This did give him more time to spend with this Capa girl. Perhaps in the future, after he had completed his task. He could tell her the truth about his identity. Who knew where their relationship could lead after that?

After picking up all the products they needed to grab. The pair both stood in line at the only available cashier with Yumoko standing in front. At this point, their banter did get some attention from other shop-goers. Mainly due to how over-the-top it was as a result of each of them trying to act how they thought members of the opposite school acted.

“As much as I may hold disdain for you.” She said as they continued to wait. “I can’t deny that your master will certainly be pleased with your choices. Assuming you can cook it.” While it was meant as an insult, Yumoko did also want to make a quiet compliment to him. It was rewarding to see someone actually listen to her for once.

“Of course I can cook this. I am a professional after all.” He huffed about his skills. His ability in the kitchen was fairly solid after spending as long as he did living alone with little money. “You seem to know what you’re doing too. I guess your president does only want the best after all.” Azutoyo also gave a little compliment, acting as if he were making a concession to hide his true feelings.

Even though she paid first, Yumoko stuck around at the entrance, waiting for him to finish and leave as well. “Are you talking me now?” He asked as he walked out.

“I just want to set the record straight.” She replied. “Even though you’re a Monta, I still have pride in being a servant. I want you to know that I’m not praying on your downfall. You better do a good job or else it’ll make us all look bad.”

“Please, I know what I’m doing.” He acted as if he were offended by getting this from a Capa. “But same goes to you too. We’re both professionals, right?” Azutoyo couldn’t say he knew much about this girl. But anyone who was respected by Jurie had to be a worthwhile person in his eyes.

“Good thing to get that out of the way.” She breathed a sigh of relief, previously worried this act could’ve blown her disguise. “Now then, farewell. We’ll likely never see each other again.”

“Pff, if I see you again before I die, it’ll be too soon.” The pair both went their separate ways, believing this to be the end. Though in Yumoko’s head, she was confident they’d continue to chat online. However their next reunion came much sooner than they could ever have imagined.

A massive sound of things collapsing and falling apart could be heard nearby. This was followed by screams, yells, and other noises that would indicate to everyone that people were in danger. Quickly the two sprang into action as they both ran towards where all the commotion came from.

“What was that?” She said as they would run into each other. The source of the noise was in a construction site. Though calling it a destruction site would be more accurate as they saw bodies of numerous students laying around with wreckage littering the field. More importantly these students didn’t belong to just one of the schools, but rather were made up of members of both given their uniforms.

“I don’t know, but it doesn’t look good.” He answered as the pair stared on in shock. It took a moment, but as people began coming up behind them to also see what was the cause of the disturbance, Yumoko regained her senses to talk again.

“Someone call for help, these people are injured.” Instinctively, she was about to run to give aid to some of the Monta students. However she accidentally bumped into Azutoyo who was about to do the same for his Capa students. This small interruption reminded the pair of who their disguises were meant for and quickly changed course in order to continue playing the act.

Even though it went against their true wishes, the pair did the best job they could until helped arrived and the proper authorities took those who were harmed to the hospital. No one could understand what had happened, but whatever did would have lasting ramifications.

And those ramifications would be dealt with by none other than the student council presidents of Monta and Capa academy.

“President, can you tell us how you will be responding to the clear act of aggression by those Capa students?” As he was walking into school the next day, Ryuo was quickly surrounded by students, some of which represented the school’s newspaper on the matter.

“I will be able to make a proper decision once I get all the facts on the matter.” His response did little to quell the crowd.

“Some of the students here are wondering what that decision will be. As you know, there has been some murmurs of your soft rule against the Capas.”

“Please do not hound the president with your accusations.” Fortunately he had his friends and fellow student council members by his side. As well as his newfound servant. After Benzou said his piece, Azutoyo followed it up by using his dreadful glare to scare off any more people who would want to ask questions.

Meanwhile Jurie also had her own mob to deal with as she went into school too.

“Jurie, what are you going to do about those Monta freaks?” One of the people said in the crowd as she walked surrounded with only her friends and servant there to provide a buffer.

“Yeah, those losers need to be paid back for what they did.” Another one said.

“Now now, let’s not be too hasty.” She spoke with an attempt of being calm. Even though her hands shook over what was to come over this matter. “Everyone, please don’t do anything that’ll only make things worse for all of us.”

“Why are you holding us back? We only want to make things right.” Her words did little to calm the crowd as they only talked back to her. Though further attempts were stopped by Niiya.

“Listen, unless you want to answer to my fists. Get out of our way.” She threatened them as they made their way to the student council room.

“Don’t worry mistress.” Said Yumoko as she used her body to shield the girl away from the others. “I’ll make sure nothing bad happens to you.” After some effort, they pushed through the crowd, entered the room, and shut the door behind them. The yelling and screaming of the other students were muffled behind them as the group collectively took a sigh of relief.

“Well isn’t this something.” Tenmaro was the first to talk about the matter at hand. “I can’t believe I was wrong about students getting into fights.”

“Yeah, but you’re always wrong. So what’s new about that?” Niiya replied with an insult.

“Can’t say I’m happy to be starting my morning off with an angry mob.” Said Sumiwa. “Why can’t it be another day where I can doze off during class?”

“Mistress, I’m worried about the people out there. It seems they’re looking for blood.” As someone who wasn’t actually a Capa, Yumoko didn’t share the same level of rage as the rest of her classmates. If anything, she was angry on behalf of the Montas.

Regardless, being surrounded by such animosity those people like her was concerning. She could feel how upset most of the student body was and knew it was likely the Montas were in a similar state. At this rate, an actual war might break out.

“Don’t worry everyone, I’m going to take care of this.” Jurie answered in a tone to try and inspire confidence.

“How?” This was the expected response after being given such little details. What they got in return was unexpected though.

“Simple, I’m going to talk to the Monta’s student council president.”
