Chapter 1:

Chapter one

A demon's offer

The moment Lucas opened his eyes, he screamed, touching his stomach expecting there to be four hole though him. But when he looked down, he saw nothing, the only thing there was the holes though his clothes showing that the demon wasn't a dream. The pain he felt a moment ago was gone.
Lucas calmed down, and looked that his surrounding. Lucas saw snow covered trees all around him and a dirt path, going right out of view. He looked down at the spot he woke up and saw a small brown bag.
When Lucas checked the contents of the bag, there was food, water and clean clothes. Lucas wasted no time changing clothes.
The shirt and pants was grey with a water like pattern to it. Since it was snowing, there was a black jacket. Lucas looked at it and only had one thought "Bager gave me a jacket, how thoughtful of him but can't find a less painful way to send me to another world, what a joke." With a deep breath, Lucas put on the jacket.
When he was fully dressed he decided to walk the dirt path that he woke up on. Lucas didn't think staying on one place was a good choice, since he needed to find shelter before nightfall.
Lucas didn't read a lot of manga or watch to much anime but he knew the basics of going to another world. So while walking the path, Lucas tried to use magic but nothing happened. Lucas expected that holing his hand out and shouting fire ball wouldn't work but it was still worth a try.
He continued walking down the snowy path for an hour until he saw a small rundown wooden cottage. Hoping the cottage wasn't owned, he walked towards it, happy to find shelter for the night.
As Lucas got closer to the house, he suddenly felt a pain inside his head. Thinking it was just a headache from walking so much, Lucas walked on but the pain continued and became worst the nearer he got.
Lucas decided to turn around and run away from the house but before he knew it, he was on his knees, begging for someone to end his pain. Getting stabbed by claws didn't come close to the pain Lucas was experiencing now. Knowledge of the world he was sent to and it's history came into his head, causing the pain to become more intense.
His screams echoed though the forest, not wanting any wild animals to hear the noise, he tried to hold his scream back. Lucas felt something rise of his stomach, a second later his food he ate an hour ago was on the floor.
After a long minute of unbearable pain, it slowly subsided. Lucas got up from the floor and walk towards the house like nothing happened, like he didn't experience the worst pain a human can handle. His eyes dead and movements robotic.
He got to the door which was broken down and looked like it a strong gust of wind could blow it off its frame. When he open the door there was a white haired girl lying of the bed that looked to be around five or six. A blue dom covered her, making it hard to see the girl in detail.
Lucas walked towards the bed without any hesitation and lifted his hand above the transparent dom. He closed his eyes and spoke aloud. "Let this barrier be gone and disappeare, let I be it's replacement." a deep red appeared in Lucas' hand, blood started to run down his face, replacing tears. Though blood ran down his face Lucas continued "Let I be this ones sword and shield. Grant me the power to cut down whoever dares cause her harm. Let me be her barrier, hell's guardian angels"
When Lucas was done speaking, thorny red vines slowly started covering the transparent dome that was over the girl. In seconds the dome was was completely covered in red vines.
The dome stated to crack under the red vines, like glass breaking. When the done finally broke, a bright light in golfed the room. After the light subsided the little girl could be more clearly seen.
Lucas stared that the girl for a least a minute before he walked towards the cobblestone fireplace, his movements still robotic. Adding a piece of wood to the fire place, he put his hand over it and spoke aloud. "Burning fire of hell, lend your power to thy hummable servant in my time of need, inferno."
With that words a small ball of fire started in the fireplace. Lucas not surprised, got up from the floor and walked to the kitchen. He looked that the ingredients and decided to make a vegetable soup and didn't taste great but still had the right vitamins for her.
When Lucas was done with the soup, he look at the floor and spoke. "Trail has ended. Child of war continue." In a second, Lucas' breath was heavy, like he'd run a marathon. "What the hell?" Lucas asked nobody, looking around the room confused. Memory's from a few minutes prior started to appear into Lucas' mind. "Bager, that damn demon! Can't he find a better way to tell me this?"
Lucas turned around and sat on a chair next to the bed, staring a the little girl. "Bager is crazy, how can you call this a 'errand'. How does he expect me to lean this girl home? It's across the world, it'll take a least two years."
When Lucas first got to the cottage, the details of bager's 'errand' was forcedly added to Lucas' mind.
"Bager could have that at least find another way to share the information about this world in a less painful way." Lucas took a deep breath and looked at the girl.
"I want to, at the very least, help this girl get back home, I don't know anything about her but if a demon wants her somewhere, I know she's dangerous. But I still want to help her. Is this the magic I cast or my own feelings?"
" I have a strong feeling towards this girl, I want to see her happy, I want to protect, I want to help her. I know that she can't be trusted but my feeling to protect her grow stronger by the second"
Lucas was pulled out of his thoughts by the girl slowly opening her eyes. Her white hair and the red crosses in her pupils made her look inhuman. The girl looked to the side and saw Lucas. The sight of him made her jump up onto the bed and scream. "Mother, father help!!" Lucas wasn't surprised and just spoke normally. "Calm down Madison, I was sent here to help you. I'm not here to harm you, you have my word" Madison looked at Lucas with suspicion but calmed down and got back into bed.
"So you're the person that's going to help me?" Madison asked. "Who know already?" Lucas asked surprised.
"Yes, the barrier I was in said that a person would come and help me" Madison spoke in a soft tone like she was remembering something unpleasant. "I see. Well, that makes it easier to explain. Do you know why I'm here?"
"No." Madison replied. Lucas took a deep breath and spoke "I was sent here to get you back to your homeland. I-"
"What?! Are you really?" Madison interrupted. Lucas looked at Madison for a moment and than continued. "Yes that's what I was told to do but before we do anything, eat this I'll help you recover." Lucas holed the soup in his hands.
"Eww. What's that? It looks disgusting!" Madison complained "Just eat it, the faster you eat, the faster you get home."
Madison looked at the soup with hesitation but took it from Lucas' hand and started forcing it down. "Eat slower or you'll chock." With Lucas' words falling on deaf ears, he rolled his eyes and got up.
He took the empty bowl out of Madison's hand and put it on the table. Looking out the window Lucas saw that the sun was setting. " I guess we're leaving tomorrow. Get some sleep, you'll need the energy for the journey." Lucas said not bothering to turn around. "Yeah, I think I should, I do feel sleepy" with that Madison was out.
"I should get some sleep myself before tomorrow." Lucas took a blanket from the brokendown cupboard and put it on the floor to try and make a makeshift bed. Lucas lie on the bed he'd made and closed his eyes.
Pictures of his father living happily and safe made Lucas smile for the first time in this new world. With all the waking he did and the stress.
Lucas valiante fell asleep.
