Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: the first taste of hell

A demon's offer

Lucas woke up to a noise coming from outside the wooden cottage. The sound of footsteps in the cold snow made the atmosphere instantly thick. Lucas sat up and turned to Madison to see if she had woken up from the footsteps, but she was still fast asleep. Lucas took a deep breath seeing that Madison was still asleep.
Lucas heard the footsteps again and this time he knew the footsteps weren't human. Lucas got up from his make shaft bed and slowly walked to the window, careful not to make a sound. He sat under the broken window, so that whatever was on the other side didn't see him.
When the footsteps finally stopped, Lucas took the opportunity to look through the window to see what it was. Lucas looked out the window to see a row of teeth. Surprised, Lucas fell into his back. Thanks to the fall Lucas saw a better view of the 'animal'. The sharp teeth, blood red eyes and a single horn in the middle of it's forehead, a cold shafer went down Lucas' spine. Animal was gone in an instant, leaving no sound of footsteps like before.
Lucas got up from the floor, his legs shaking, and turned to Madison, still peacefully sleeping. His face turned serious, willing to do anything to protect her. Lucas searched for something, anything to use as a weapon. He saw a small knife lying on the table that he used to make the soup. He quickly grabbed it and pointed the knife at the broken window. Since Lucas wasn't used to fighting with a knife he was standing awkwardly, holding the knife in both of his shaking hands.
Lucas waited for the animal to come though the window again but nothing happened, the only thing he could hear was his heavy breathes and racing heartbeat. Lucas slowly started to walk towards the window, looking for a hint of where the animal was. But before Lucas would reach the window, he heard a sound, like a drop of water falling on to the floor.
Lucas quickly turned around and swung the knife with all his strength but in an instant his hand was cut off, making the knife and his hand fall on to the floor. Lucas fell to his knees, screaming in pain. His screams echoed though the cold air, as he tried to stop the overflowing blood coming out of his arm with his other hand.
The wolf-like animal started to chuckle, a chuckle of enjoyment seeing Lucas in unimaginable pain. Hearing the animals laugh Lucas grabbed the knife out of his served hand and tried to stab the animal but it dodged Lucas' attack with a quick movement, almost teleporting. Lucas fell into the floor, blood from his hand dying the wooden floor red.
The animal laughed again seeing Lucas lying in his own blood. Lucas turned his head towards Madison, to at least tell her to run away, giving up on his own life. But the sight he saw was even more painful then his hand being chopped off, Madison was awoke, shaking with tears running down her face. Lucas looked away, unable to continue looking at Madison. He clenched his teeth knowing he needed to fight. Before Lucas could sit up, he heard a voice in his head "Active spell, hells guardian angel?"
Lucas was surprised but quickly answered the voices question aloud. "Yes" he took a deep breath, still in pain. "Active... the spell." There was a moment of silence untill the voice responded. "User administration granted, activating spell 'hells guardian angel'." With that words, red vines slowly extended from his handless arm to his hand on the floor. Lucas felt a pain, like small knife's stabbing him but it wasn't as bad as getting his hand cut off. The chopped off hand slowly reattached to his arm.

body went limp and stiff in a second,"Hells guardian angels active." His movements seemed robotic like the first time he came to the cottage. Seeing this, the animal felt something different and started to circle Lucas. Lucas didn't move nor did he breath but his senses were sharp.

The wolf attacked Lucas without hesitation. The animals attack was meaningless in front of the red vines that enclosed it, covering every inch of the beast. The red vines started to tear off the animals limps slowly, one by one. With each limp that the vines removed, blood spattered anywhere, covering the room in a deep red.
The insides of the animal lie in-between the vines, blood dropping from the torn apart limps. The once fast beast, was now die.
Lucas bened down to a pool of the animals blood and put two of his fingers into it. "Analysis start." With that words, the blood came off the ground and flew into Lucas' fingers. Every drop of blood from the animal was now in the air, flying towards Lucas' fingers.
After all the blood was gone, Lucas got up. "Analysis complete, night terror added to the book of monstrum." Lucas looked towards the window and held his hand up. "Locate similar entries." Red vines spread throughout the room, it's thorns stabbing into the wooden floor and walls.
"Similar entries detected." the red vines quickly flew out the window. Cries echoed though the cold air as Lucas turned and walked towards Madison. "Target in emotion distress." She was holding the blanket over her head, clearly shaking from fear.
"Help: none. Extra assistance has ended. Child of war continue." Lucas falling to the floor once Lucas woke up to a noise coming from outside the wooden cottage. The red vines started to spread though out his body, it's thorns going into his flesh. Lucas felt something running though his body, a feeling he'd never felt before. He could feel his DNA break down and change, a painful yet comforting feeling.
Lucas felt he was losing his consciousness, knowing what happened the last time, he didn't struggle and let the spell take over. Lucas' body went limp and stiff in a second,"Hells guardian angels active." His movements seemed robotic like the first time he came to the cottage. "Help: none. Extra assistance has ended. Child of war continue." Lucas falling to the floor once again but since time less painfully. Lucas opened his eyes and sat up on the floor, looking at his hand, still feeling the pain of the cut. Lucas looked up and saw Madison under the blanket. Lucas clenched his fist and got up and sat on the edge of the bed. With everything calmed down, the atmosphere was still heavy.
"The scary wolf is gone now. Nothing's going to hurt you." Lucas tried to sound child-like but ended up sounding like an idiot instead. Lucas' heart sunk when he started to hear muffed cries coming from under the blankets. Lucas was about to speak again, when Madison jumped out of the blanket and hugged Lucas.
Madison cried onto Lucas' chest, pulling on the back of his shirt. All Lucas could do was sit still, surprised. "Why do I have to go though this. I just want to go home! Why, why!!" Lucas slowly put his arms around her as she spoke again. "Mother, father and everyone else died protecting me. why do I deserve to live and not them. why can't we go home and play. Whyyy!"
Lucas' heart pained. More then anything he'd felt. If he could he'd get killed a hundred times to take Madison's pain away, even just a little. But right now all Lucas could do is listen and comfort her as best he can, he felt hopeless.
Madison cried untill the sun came up and they both immediately fell asleep, lying on the bed.
