The Shatterborn

The Shatterborn are a terrifying faction. Legends say that their ancestors were once the original guardians of the Eclipse Flame — until they were betrayed by their own kin and shattered across time itself. Their members are broken and remade, existing in multiple realities simultaneously. They are unpredictable, dangerous, and unbound by the usual rules of power.

Kairos’s flame is one of their deepest desires, as they believe controlling it will repair the “fractures” in time and restore their former glory. They believe that the Eclipse Flame is the key to reuniting their scattered existence. The Shatterborn assassins begin their search for Kairos’s remnants, but their leader, Valkir, is the most dangerous of all. A rogue Ascendant with a power that destabilizes reality, Valkir manipulates the timelines, warping fate itself, making him a terrifying force to reckon with.

But something is wrong with him. The more Valkir uses his power, the more his body begins to fragment. His immortality is an illusion, and the price of his existence is bleeding his soul dry. His ultimate goal is to take Kairos’s flame to stabilize his form — but he doesn’t realize that it may be the very thing that destroys him.
