Chapter 6:

Beta Play Style

"God Slayer"

The next morning, Karan wakes up to find a courier waiting for him—his beta tester package from Masters of Wonders (MOW), the creators of SoulMonz. Excitement builds as he carries the package to his room, eager to see what’s inside.
Tearing open the packaging, he finds a sleek box with "MOW" printed in bold letters. Inside, the first thing he notices is a piece of paper titled "Acknowledgment", stating that the equipment inside has been extensively tested and approved by top scientists. A QR code is provided for verification, leading to 116 certification links. Karan, impressed but slightly overwhelmed by the sheer number, simply closes the browser.
Underneath, another paper labeled "Equipment Details" catches his eye, but he sets it aside for now. His real focus is on the smaller box inside. Opening it, his excitement dims for a moment—inside lies a black smartwatch.
"Seriously? Just a watch?" he mutters, disappointed.
But then, he spots the user manual beside it. Curiosity takes over as he picks it up and starts reading:
> "Welcome to the world of MOW!First of all, we thank you for your trust and support. You have been selected as a beta tester, not just by luck, but because of your own skills and dedication. What you hold in your hands is no ordinary device—it is the most advanced piece of technology ever created.Unlike any existing gadget, this device merges AR and VR technology, creating an experience so real that you won’t be able to distinguish it from the real world. The trees, the wind, even the people and creatures in the game will feel alive. This device is built exclusively for our new game SoulMonz. But that’s just the basics. The real breakthrough? This device allows you to play the game while you sleep. That’s right—you don’t just dream about the game. You live it. The moment you fall asleep, the game activates, and you will experience the world of SoulMonz as if it were your reality.Since this is a beta version, you will only have access to the game for one night. After that, the system will lock until the full release. The good news? Your progress will be saved. When the official version launches, all other players will start from scratch, but you will pick up right where you left off."
Karan's initial skepticism fades. His grip tightens around the Soul Watch—as it is officially named.
The manual continues:
> "How to Play:
1. Turn on the Soul Watch and enter your World Slasher ID and password.

2. Wear the watch—it needs to sync with your body, which takes about 30 minutes. During this time, you may feel a tingling sensation in your wrist. Do not be alarmed.

3. Setup Deadline: You must complete the setup before 10:00 PM.

4. Sleep Before 11:00 PM: The beta version activates precisely at 11:00 PM. If you are awake past this time, you will miss your chance.

5. Final Warning: Go to the bathroom before sleeping. We won’t be responsible for any ‘accidents’ in the morning—no matter your age."

Karan lets out a small chuckle at the last part but takes the instructions seriously.
Without wasting time, he wears the Soul Watch, enters his credentials, and immediately feels a strange sensation on his wrist. It’s like tiny electric pulses, not painful but definitely noticeable.
"This is... weird," he thinks, watching the watch sync with his body.
For 30 minutes, the sensation lingers, then fades away. The watch now feels like an extension of himself.
With the setup complete, Karan glances at the clock. The day feels long, but excitement pulses in his veins. Tonight, he will step into a world no one else has seen before.
And so, he waits for nightfall, eager to enter the world of SoulMonz.
