Chapter 7:
The Prince of the Otherworld becomes a Highschool Student
It had been a little under a week since the Prince of Phirines, Iscodaya Kousa, and his blade and closest servant, Kaus Irom, had arrived at the realm known as Earth. As the alarm Iscodaya had bought rang, the two immediately woke up.
Without saying anything to each other, Iscodaya went to their shower, whilst Kaus went to the kitchen and started cooking. And the second Iscodaya got out, Kaus was already finished, with plates full of hot food already on the table. The two began to chow down, with Kaus sometimes wiping Iscodaya’s mouth if there was food hanging onto it.
When the two finished, Iscodaya began to wash the dishes as Kaus went to the shower. And as the Prince finished, he began to put his clothes on, with his servant finishing up while he double-checked. And lastly, as Kaus began to put on his clothes, Iscodaya made sure everything was in their bag, including their lunch.
As Iscodaya checked Kaus out one last time, the two left their apartment, their preparation only taking ten minutes. It was outside their apartment, that Kaus spoke the first word between them that day, “So~ this is our first Friday, isn’t it?”
Iscodaya turned to his servant, “Yeah, I guess they give short school breaks here. I heard from one of our classmates that it’s called a weekend.” Kaus nodded at his Prince’s statement.
“Because it’s the end of the week, makes sense.” The duo’s walk went on without a hitch, though due to their speed in preparing, they found time to visit a cafe, where Iscodaya got coffee. When the two finally arrived, Kaus was yet again being looked at.
Iscodaya scoffed as he changed his shoes, “It’s been a few days, surely the buzz around your name has died down, right?” At his Prince’s remark, Kaus awkwardly chuckled.
“Guess it hasn’t.” The two made their way to their classroom, with Iscodaya reading a book, not paying attention to his surroundings, while Kaus walked in front so that his Prince wouldn’t bump into anything.
But as they made it to their room, Iscodaya could already hear all the talking from the wide-open door. And when they entered, he saw them, the friend group he and Kaus had hung out with on their first day of school.
As Iscodaya got a sight of the ever-charming Yusuke, they suddenly locked eyes as the young man looked up. A smile came over Yusuke’s face, as his shine was still one Iscodaya wasn’t used to. Yusuke waved, but Iscodaya merely turned and started walking. “Nope, we are not having that,” Kaus stated, grabbing the Prince by the collar.
“Irom,” Iscodaya angrily whispered, but his blade didn’t care. Grabbing the Prince’s hand, Kaus lifted it, and forcefully made him wave, like a kid with his plushie. Seeing this, Yusuke couldn’t help but chuckle a bit.
Getting up from his seat, Yusuke approached the two, “Morning guys! How has your first week here been?” He asked, smiling so brightly that Iscodaya had to squint his eyes.
“It’s been fine,” Kaus replied, “Though there is a lot of schoolwork to do.” Yusuke’s face dimmed as he heard Kaus’s words. His gaze looked away as he nodded.
“There certainly is.” But as Kaus and Yusuke continued to talk, Iscodaya was hearing a lot of noise behind him. The sight of the popular kid and the handsome transfer student was like two giants meeting each other. But as he was planning to just walk away, there was a tap on his shoulder.
He turned, and instantly, blood rushed to his cheeks as the face of Kei was in front of him. The young lady was smiling at him, but instinctively Iscodaya reached out his hand and made distance, “Too close,” he remarked.
Kei was initially surprised, but as she saw Iscodaya’s rosy cheeks, she smiled, “Oh~ what is this? Do you finally like me?” She tauntingly whispered.
“No,” Iscodaya sharply replied, all red in his cheeks, leaving, causing Kei to recoil. She stared at him with a questioning smirk.
“I can never get you,” Kei remarked, causing Iscodaya to shrug. Their first period went smoothly as Iscodaya and Kaus were integrating well into the learning periods. But when it was time to do their physical activities, the two excelled in them.
“ISCODAYA!!!” Kaus yelled as he jumped and threw the ball halfway across the entire court. The students were amazed by his power as the ball ripped through the air. But even with its speed, it came crashing down as it met the hands of Iscodaya.
The Prince of Phirines began to dribble the ball as he ran with surprising speed. Yusuke, who was on the same team as Iscodaya and Kaus, looked on with a big smile.
“ISCODAYA PASS!!!” He yelled, but it seemed like Iscodaya couldn’t hear him, as the young Prince went full into the opposing side’s hoop. Watching from the sidelines, Kei wondered what Iscodaya was trying to do.
“Is he trying to lose?” She stated with confusion. But next to her was Rin, who was watching the game intently.
“Kousa has a pretty small figure, but he’s not frail,” she remarked, impressed with Iscodaya’s athleticism.
As he approached an opposing student, his eyes sharpened. The bigger student tried to block Iscodaya, but his speed managed to make him slip through, “FOLLOW UP!!” he yelled in a language no one understood, but as they were too focused on him, Kaus began to run at an intense pace.
Iscodaya was being chased down, but worse yet, there was someone in front of him blocking the way. So summoning all his precision and strength, he threw the ball, under the defender’s legs.
The students watching were shocked, as the defender turned to get the ball, but Iscodaya had already passed him and caught it. Then, as the hoop was in range, he aimed, as another student came to try to block it. The Prince jumped as his opponents did the same, fully blocking the hoop, but Iscodaya wasn’t aiming for the hoop.
As the ball whizzed past the defender’s ear and hit the floor, it bounced, into the hands of Kaus. Summoning all the power in his legs, the young Phirinian warrior jumped, as he dunked the ball into the hoop.
The spectators were amazed as Iscodaya began to dry the sweat around his face. Kaus walked up to his Prince, a small smirk on his face, “And what was that about using our languages?” He whispered, causing Iscodaya to roll his eyes.
But suddenly, crowds of people began to pile on the duo, as the Prince realized his competitive spirit made them too noticeable. Trying his best to ignore people, Iscodaya slipped through the crowd, leaving Kaus to take care of all of it. But there was one person he couldn’t ignore.
“What a play by you there,” remarked Kei clapping with a playful smile, “I thought you were an idiot for charging in there alone.” Iscodaya made his way to a drinking fountain, with Kei with him, as he finished drinking, he turned to her.
“You’re only an idiot if you know you can’t do it, but still do,” he stated, causing Kei to scoff.
“Wow, so profound,” she teased, but then, she brought out something Iscodaya was seeing all around his school, a rectangular object people stared at. “Luckily for you, I recorded it, give me your phone I’ll send it to you?”
Hearing this, Iscodaya’s brow rose, “What… what is a phone, I’ve heard people say it a lot.” But as those words exited Iscodaya’s mouth, Kei gave him the most confused stare he had ever seen.
“Y-you don’t have a p-phone?” She asked, causing Iscodaya to nod, “How have you…” Realizing that he might’ve been sounding suspicious, Iscodaya decided to lie.
“I don’t know a lot of things,” Iscodaya remarked, playing the sympathy card again. It worked.
“Ah, I see,” Kei softly replied, as she remembered Iscodaya talking about not going outside too much. But understanding this, Kei took a deep breath, as she looked Iscodaya deep in the eye.
The Prince recoiled a bit, “W-what?”
And with a confident voice, Kei replied, “Do you wanna hang out with me tomorrow, I’ll show you what a phone is.”
