Chapter 1:

Too Close

NO(body)

The smell in the air is of roses, and the open window bleaches the inside of the room. Hero lays on the bed as a few unfamiliar faces walks in.

“Doctor, do you think he will be alright?” said a man wearing a Mythose Academy uniform. The Doctor responded by stating, “If he was in a critical condition, he would be dead by now. Jack, where did you find this gentleman to begin with?” Jack responded with, “I heard a thump outside my door and saw him outside Jade’s room collapsed. Jade did not want to bring him here, but I cant leave him out there.”

Doctor frowned, “He must be a new transfer student, meaning he must have broken one of the sacred rules. Most people now a days don’t read the terms and conditions before checking them off.” She grabs a pen from the desk besides the bed and stabs hero in the stomach with it. Hero jolts and starts panting, “What, where am I now?” Doctor says, “You are in the infirmary. You must be new here, reading your chart and what it said about you, you are new here aren’t you Hero?” She pinches her bridge and mumbles, “What fool names themselves Hero.”

Jack on the other hand looks quite excited to see a new face here at Mythose Academy and extends his hand towards Hero. “Hi, my name is Jack, its so good to see a new friendly face around here,” he says while Hero slightly gets up and shakes his hand. “I don’t mean to be a burden, but what is ‘here’ and where am I now?”Hero pondered to Jack. In response, Jack says, “Like Doctor said, you are in the infirmary. Here at Mythose Academy, we have some of the bright students working hard to make it into careers that we desire. Me, myself and I is apart of the medical branch of this school and going to be nurses one day.”

Doctor side eyed Jack and said, “That’s enough, if you are going to be a walking history book about yourself, you should get out off my office. You know after this is all said and done Jack, you will still have to go and get a degree in whatever delusional fantasy you made up for yourself where you will ever be a nurse just by this alone.” Jack did not look too pleased with the response he got and walked out.

“Now were were we, you broke school rules and now you are going to have to go to detention. I’m going to give you a pass and you go straight there and no deviations, you got me young man!” Doctor yelled at Hero while righting a pass for him to go to detention. Hero nodded and took the pass and left.

Hero looked around lost as ever, but he heard a cry coming from the bathroom across from the infirmary. Not to be rude, he went inside and knocked on the stall with the crying coming from. Instead of the door being locked, it crept opened and relieved Jack in a ball crying on the toilet. “Leave me alone,” cried Jack. Hero said as he held out his hand, “I am kinda new here, wanna show me to the detention room.” Jack’s mood begins to change from weekday blues to Saturday morning and hugged Hero. “I’d love to,” said Jack.

Jack takes Hero’s hand and guides him out into the hall. “This is the medical side of the school, and it is the best side of the building because I am on this side of the building. And here is one of my classes, and there is the other class room.” Jack says while pulling hero along for the ride. Hero speaks up, “I really need to go to the detention room, she looked like she was going to break every bone in my body before I could leave.” Jack was saddened more by this, “Fine, ill take you there as long as you see me again.” Hero says, “Ill do anything, really.” Jack lights up by those words and takes Hero straight to the detention room then says, “please do come by and see me when school is over.” As Jack leaves and waves bye, Hero stands in front of the detention room.
