The morning sunrise bleed through open window awakening Hero from his slumber. As he rises and turns on the light switch, his memories begin to be hazy about if the window was open last night or was it closed with the light on. Static begins to fill Hero’s vision as he sits on his bed and pinch the bridge of his nose.

A soft knock on the door was heard, “Its me,” Jack spoke softly through the door, “I’m coming in regardless if you want me to or not.” The door swung open to reveal Jack with a determined look on his face. “You need to stop acting like a wild animal before you break the rules any further and hurt yourself.” He spoke in a pleading tone.

Hero looks at Jack with bewilderment, “What, what rules? I’ve only been trying to get answers and keep getting migraines from you and god knows what.” Jack looking heartbroken spoke, “Those migraines are from the rule breaking. Didn’t you get beefed on the terms of this place?” Hero stairs at Jack in silence before be puts his hands into his face and rubs his temples.

Hero gets up and starts walking out, “I think I’m good hearing anything more out of you.” He rushes out, but gets stopped by the detention's teacher. “You are up early Hero. Go to breakfast and get ready for the day to come.” He moves past hero and starts knocking on the rooms. Hero continues to walk to the crossroad of the school and follows the smell of food to the dining hall.

He sits down at an empty row. There were only two other students sitting down at other tables. One of them got up and went to sit across from Hero. “I hear you are on the list man. What did you do bad to get a months detention? Don’t tell me, let me guess… You thought about beating up someone didn’t you?” The guy spoke with intrigue. Hero looked at the guy with bewilderment, “No, I tried bolting it out of here, but I passed out like every damn thing I try to do.” The guy laughed, “This place is so messed up man. When I was new here I just looked at a teacher the wrong way and woke up in detention. Did they stick a Piker on you?” Hero asked, “Whats a Piker?” He responded to Hero question by pointing at Jack who walked in. “He is one of the newer ones. They try to ruin your reputation and humiliate you to get in line.”

Jack noticing Hero sitting by someone else, hugs him and pulls him away from the guy. “Silly goose, hes so boring, hope he did not get you into being depressed. Lets get breakfast.” Jack pulls on Hero’s hand and leads him into line for breakfast.

The fragrance of freshly baked waffles hits their noses at the same time, as the went and got their trays. Hero’s eyes are wide at the sight of these freshly cooked and edible tapestry. “Its real food,” he uttered while he slid a stack of them onto his plate, then dowsed them with a thick brown syrup. The trance of the waffle is broken by Jack looking with askance.

The both of them sit down on a row and everyone else gets up and sits somewhere else. “Shall we eat?” Jack shakily asks. Hero gets up and walks back to the other table and trying to get away, but is stopped by Jack putting a hand on Hero’s shoulder. “I thought we were friends Hero… Why don’t you like me now?” Jack tilts his head into a question mark. Hero looks away and continues to walk away. Hero sits down and begins to eat his waffles as people fill into the dinning hall.

Once the waffles are all down and everyone has already settled down, a voice comes over the intercom, “Vance and Hero, report to detention immediately.” The guy from before gets up, and walks to the exit, but says something to Hero on his way there, “We are up, lover boy.” He exits the dining hall and disappears.

It was once again time for Hero to go to detention. He got up from his seat, and put back the tray at the return box and wondered out into the halls. It was quiet, far too quiet for an early morning. No one was in the halls, it was just him and the halls. Far deep into trying to find the detention room once again, he heard a pen drop behind him.

Hero turned around to see the Nurse with a cup full of a random assortment of office supplies. “Finally you noticed; I was beginning to creep myself out.” She threw the cup behind and it disappeared. “Don’t go to detention Hero, that is not were you belong right now. I need you to go right now and leave through the front door.” The nurse points to the exit that is behind him. He runs and exits through the front door and finds Jack crying on the steps.

“You know you can’t trust Vance.” Jack spoke softly from the amount of crying, “He is a lair...” “But why would he lie about you? It makes sense that you are the root cause of this” Hero spoke down to him. “Because, he wants to see us separated, he knows about what we do.” Jack curls into a ball and puts his face into his legs, “When I heard we could reconstruct and relive our memories, I was so excited. But when I realized you chose to forget me… I thought I could… I don’t know what I thought I could… YOU CHOSE TO FORGET ME. YOU BASTARD.”

Jack collapsed and the nurse opens the door to check on us. “Man, he really took it personally.” The nurse went and picked up Jack by the arms, “A little help here man.” Reluctantly, Hero grabs Jack’s legs and took him into the infirmary. They toss him onto the bed and Hero sits on a stool and watches over him.

“What he was saying, was made up right?” He asked her looking for answers. She sits down and turns to the calendar while lighting a cigarette, “Its none of my business.” He looks back at Jack in silence
